I had an amazing experience with Ubaid from U-Haul! He was incredibly professional, friendly, and went above and beyond to make sure everything was smooth and stress-free. I rented a 15-ft truck, and everything went great! The staff was polite and professional, quickly handled the paperwork, and explained everything clearly. I especially want to mention Ubaid – a very friendly and knowledgeable employee. The truck was in good condition, and there were no issues. Thank you! I will definitely come back!
I rented a U-Hual from black foot trail.
The rental agreement was for 80km. I went over my 30 kms.
I picked up the truck with just under 3/4 of a tank of gas. When refilling the truck I over filled it bringing it past full. Spent $100 in gas. So I called them this morning to ask if they could maybe apply the extra gas amount to my overages. They told me that U-Haul is not responsible to give any refunds if you overfill your gas.
This makes me to believe that the company has been getting free gas out of customers for a long time and not having to spend money out of their own pockets. It's not easy to tell how much gas to put in a giant truck with a massive gas tank to refill the thing Plus I never saw anything in my contract that says that if I refill or overfill, I don't get a credit back. Renters beware. So in total it cost me and extra $102.67 roughly to rent a truck. Bring the grand total to $303.65.
Makes me never want to use them again. Next time I'll try enterprise trucks

Fake Pricing and hidden charges that are doubled up, I booked a 15ft Uhaul, set it up online for pick up with up without no front desk contact.

This is my preferred place to book a U-Haul. Easy to access, lots of trucks, tons of supplies, and very friendly customer service. I did a move for January and booked my truck almost last minute. I was in and out in no time flat. Recommended!
If you are going to get a hitch installed here DO NOT GO HERE I REPEAT IF YOU ARE GOING TO GET A HITCH INSTALLED STAY AWAYFROM THIS U-HAUL. absolute crap service I got my hitch installed on Saturday they messed all my break lights up there not put together back in place I will be getting the name of the people who worked on my car and making SURE they are recognized for the terrible job on my car. It looks like a 10year old put it together there’s screws that I can literally loosen screws where they did work on my car as well there are screws missing . I have pictures and videos of everything on top of wasting my time gas and messing up my car they told me they can’t help me until Tuesday that’s 3 days that snow and water could get into my car where they left it open and did not put together properly. I am now at another U-Haul location hoping they can help me I will never deal with 5519 6 st SE Calgary u Haul ever again absolutely livid with this U-Haul they never even compensated me or anything. I’ll be sure to double check the hitch before doing anything with it as to make sure that’s on properly as well heck probably not even screwed on properly either what a joke !!

Called ahead of time to question the drop off process whomever we spoke to said that the manager michelle would be around that she could help us with our question we had about the extra KMs we paid for and or thought we paid for this is where the misunderstanding an everything went wrong happens. We got there an instantly my fiancee was met with attitude about the kms she refused to show us just insisted we had to pay more there was a miscommunication somewhere but again wasn't giving a solution to help us at all just kept demanding payment . When I walked I was greeted with snarky looks an bad vibes all 3 ladies behind the desk were giving my man attitude so I obviously was not please as his woman I stepped in to speak on his behalf as he was getting upset an I was met with the same attitude he was getting . I asked them to call the manager multiple times so did he prior to me an they just kept refusing at that point I started recording the altercation The 3 woman at the front desk that were very disrespectful to my fiancee an myself the attitude snarky behavior and comments . telling me you are going to charge my visa just to piss me off then laughing about it in my face , refusing to resolve the issue just because you can doesn't make it right! swearing an speaking in another language about me laughing at me an just being straight up taking advantage of the situation because you guys all work an because you didn't like getting called out for your behavior!!! Absolutely 0 stars for your disgusting behavior ! Happy holidays to us I guess ! They forgot the blankets and then i downsized the truck and they didnt refund me the difference, then said i owed them 10 dollars .
The truck they gave me had no fuel in it and sounded like it was going to die on the road.

The lady who greeted me was very friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Everything was ready to go and worked as it was supposed to. I was very happy with the experience and my move went easily because of it. Thank you!
My U-Haul’s headlight was not working. I didn’t check it because I rented it during the day but it had gotten dark during my return drive. The branch was unapologetic and made no adjustment to the billing despite everything I said about endangering others and risking a fine.
Picked up a 20ft truck for an in city move in November - so snowy & cold. Trucks are not well equipped (no snow tires) for winter and you are only provided with just enough fuel (1/8th tank) to just get to a gas station. Risky in poor weather conditions. Staff were nice and truck was ready as expected.
I made a reservation for Monday morning and needed to change it. I called at 4:00pm on Sunday and was put in hold. I waited 20 minutes and then tried to make change on the app. I could not do it there so then I phoned back at 4:30. Again out on hold. I waited on hold until 5:10. Now the office is closed. If you have staff at your location and they outright refuse to help your customers and just put them on hold until the office closes you really need to address that.
This is the second time I’ve used U-Haul on Blackfoot. The manager goes above and beyond to help select the proper vehicle or trailer in my case a trailer the staff were Very helpful and fast , Thank you for all your help, I highly recommend U-Haul on Blackfoot
The state of the vehicle we received was an appalling. Someone clearly chain smoked in it, so we had to drive with widows down the entire time just to get fresh air. Not to mention the spilled coffee all over the seats and dash. When I pointed my concerns out to two of the staff members, they fell on deaf ears - not even an apology or acknowledgement was made, much less any compensation.
Have been using The Blackfoot location in Calgary for a few years, because it’s close to home, and the people who work there a friendly and knowledgable. Highly recommend people go there for the great service.
The online booking, phone, and in person customer service has been an absolute horrifying at the U-Haul Blackfoot Trail location. The online booking system malfunctions and some customer service representatives were rude and unhelpful. It’s inexcusable.
Timeline of abhorrent events:
1. August 6: Online hitch installation booking completed and fully paid for. Hitch installation booked for Aug 14 at 7AM at the U-Haul Calgary Blackfoot Trail location. I made a follow up appointment by calling U-Haul to confirm my appointment and if I needed any other parts installed to mount a Thule bike rack to my hitch. It was confirmed that i only needed the hitch and my appointment was correct and she had looked me up in the POS system.
2. Aug 14: I drove 30 minutes to arrive for my appointment Aug 14 at 7AM and was told that the hitch was not received and that the installation could not be completed. I was also told that they did not see my appointment in their system and the reason being that I booked it online and the booking system doesn’t work. The customer service representative was extremely rude and unapologetic about the inconvenience that this caused me. She booked another appointment later in the week and settled on Saturday Aug 17 at 7AM. I had requested that a confirmation email be sent and that I receive a phone call to confirm my appointment and that the hitch was received.
3. Aug 16 @4:40PM: I still had not received an email confirmation or phone call from U-Haul about my new installation appointment booked for Aug 17 @7AM.
I called U-Haul to confirm my appointment and ensure that U-Haul had received my hitch to be installed. The female customer service representative was extremely rude and told me that they had not received my part and that I “just need to wait until they call me to tell me it’s ready”. I then questioned what the point of booking an appointment if they were unsure of whether or not the part would be ready. I also questioned why I didn’t get a call to tell me the part wasn’t in so that I didn’t waste another hour of my day driving to and from U-Haul for no reason. The lady told me she didn’t know why….
4. Aug 17 @ 8:09AM: Missed call from U-Haul customer service representative telling me I had missed my 7AM appointment and that I will need to rebook. I spoke to one customer service representative outlining the above mentioned timelines and questioned why I was called this morning stating I missed my appointment when I was told the previous evening that the part was not available and to wait for someone to call me. She told me to hold and wait for the person who called me to pick up.
I spoke with Laura and she worked with me to book an appointment in the Calgary NE location instead of Blackfoot trail. She was the most helpful and only helpful person at U-Haul. She deserves a raise.

The AC was not functioning at all in the truck and it was hot as hell.
I booked online to have a dolly with my truck but there was none. It would be great to have a representative call me if there was none available. This made my move a lot difficult especially when my pick up was 30 minutes before closing.

I had booked a 20 foot truck for 8am. I arrive at the location and that app tells me a truck wasn't assigned to me, so I had to wait until 9am for them to open with 7 other people having the same problem. I waited an additional 45 min in line for the attendant to tell me they don't have the truck I had reserved and that they could give me a 15 foot truck. They were running around frantically unorganized burning rubber and screeching tires all over the place, so I decided to wait until I returned to talk to someone about this.
When I arrived the person I was told was the "boss" ignored me when I tried to get his attention to complain about the whole situation. So I left. This is by far the worst customer experience I have ever had. How in the hell do you approve a reservation without having the truck, and why the hell do you have an app for early booking that DOESN'T work. Absolutely ridiculous. Moving is stressful enough without having to deal with this kind of incompetence. Enterprise rents trucks.

BE AWARE THAT YOUR RESERVATION DOES NOT MEAN ANY COMMITMENT! I was put in a very stressful situation, as my reservation was canceled the last minute! I did it 2 weeks in advance, and made a whole bunch of different arrangements (elevator booking, paid security guard, day off at my job, bought a supplies) and you know what? I was told a day before that they don’t have the vehicle I need to move my apartment! Now I need to hire a moving company urgently, as I don’t have a place to stay, bough a bunch of unnecessary items for the move the receipt I don’t have anymore, and it’s the end of the month. I was calling places today for the whole day non-stop, everybody is fully booked. I don’t know what to do, but what I know for sure - do not rely on this company. They won’t take any responsibility, no actions, no nothing and there is no help at all. Greedy business, why allows their clients to experience serious inconveniences. NEVER AGAIN 👎👎👎
I had a trailer hitch installed by U-Haul. It took almost 2 hours to complete and once it was done I got in my car and heard as very loud creaking sound clearly coming from the back. I drove around a little bit and it didn’t stop, so I called the Blackfoot store. They connected me to the mechanic who worked on my car. I notified him that the car was making a very loud sound, that was never there before and seemed to be clearly coming from the hitch. He told me that he heard the sound when he got into the car to pull it into the shop, prior to installing the hitch. I told him there is absolutely no way that is true, as I would notice if my car was making such a loud noise like that. He told me it was an “old car” and it wasn’t anything he did with the install, as it was there before. He didn’t offer for me to come back in or any solutions. This was completely rude and extremely disrespectful.
I called back an hour later asking to speak to the manager. She told me to come in. She got in my car with me and heard the noise. The car was then hoisted up and they showed me where the hitch was rubbing on the exhaust. The sound DID come from the new hitch and not because my “car is old”. They told me that if I had a friend who had a metal grinder (??) that the metal just needed to be ground down. They were not able to fix it and said it was installed properly it was just “how my car is”. The mechanic put a piece of rubber between the pipe and hitch, which didn’t do anything.
The next day when the sound was still happening, so I went to the Hitch Store and they removed the hitch for me and told me it was installed completely incorrectly. I had a new one installed and took it back to U-haul for a refund. They did issue me a refund and the counter staff is friendly however no one apologized for this or seemed to care that I spent 1.5 days dealing with this and 3 visits to U-Haul, with my 1 year old in tow! I very clearly told them it was not installed correctly and do not appreciate being told that the noise was there before and not their fault. Again, no one apologized.

They called me the night before I moved to tell me they didn't have a truck available unless I travelled 3 hours out of Calgary to pick it up myself. No incentives. Ten days isn't enough to notify them that you need a moving truck. The representative was rude and left me in a stressful position. Thankfully, other companies in Calgary were available and had staff who wanted to help with my situation. Do not count on U-Haul to help you move.
The checkout and lot people are super helpful. I came in stressed out about our move and they had me set up and on my way with ease.

I don't know. It honestly felt being a customer with your company is kind of stressful. There are so many extra fees and little threats for penalty payments spread throughout the transaction. 20 bucks extra if the machine is dirty? 30 bucks plus an extreme gas price per liter if you are under the gas level on return? Getting the right amount into the tank is very difficult, and it feels like a bit of scam to have people add a little extra to avoid the penalty. It's just not a comfortable experience, and I really think you need to find a better way to structure some incentives into your processes, rather than just penaltiespenaltiespenalties. I understand people can irresponsible with your assets, but I'm a customer not a potential vehicle damaging moron.

Used U-Haul as we were moving houses. The person who helped me check in was great very nice, helpful, and polite. Joanne was her name I think. She also helped me when I came back the next day because we underestimated how much stuff we had! I recieved a text saying to do a self pre-check before I left, only recommendation would be to mention that since it has to be done while on site.
I also wanted to comment on the self service return check-in: it was way better than I expected! Quick, efficient, easy. From dealing with other companies I fully expected it to be terrible but it was great. Honestly. And the self check-in was also easy, which I did the next day.
