One of my favorite things about family practice is seeing members of the same family. Knowing the family history makes it easier to provide care and anticipate what to expect as patients age.

I think the most important skill a primary care physician can have is compassionate listening; the patient will tell their story. We're just here to listen and interpret what we're hearing. I also think it's important to have coordination of care. We're there to put the whole picture together and treat you as a whole person.

The best part of being a physician is the relationship with the patients and really the families when you're in family medicine. Because you do all ages, you tend to get children and their parents, and maybe their grandparents and so, it's just that relationship with all of them.
