Being able to listen and communicate openly with your patients and their families are very good skills to have as a family medicine provider. I love working with kids and getting to know their families. Building relationships with all my patients throughout their lives is something I'm really excited to do when I come to work every day.

Only the patient knows how they feel. I urge my patients to advocate for themselves and to speak up if something is bothering them. Even if they've been shot down by other people, if it's a problem and it's bothering them, I would encourage them to speak up and continue to address it until they are satisfied with the answer.
