Sentinel Storage Richmond

had problems with my landlord and needed a storage to start moving. I received an exceptional customer service at this location. Varun has been very helpful and professional and he does things very fast.

I rented a walk in unit here, which is a container outside their building. The floor was always wet whenever it rains. I talked to the manager but he said there was nothing he can do until I move out. To be fair, he offered me a smaller indoor unit but I have to move all of my stuff to the new unit myself. I just don't have the time. After seeing the wet floor today, I had enough and finally decided to move to another storage company. I am mentally prepared to throw away all the stuff in the boxes on the floor. So disappointed. Lesson learned is DO NOT rent their walk in container outside the building.

I had an excellent experience thanks to Don, the store manager. He went above and beyond by taking the time to walk us through different storage units and really understand what we needed. His patience, professionalism, and genuine care made the entire process smooth and stress free. It’s rare to find someone who listens first and makes sure you get the right fit, but Don did exactly that. Highly recommend working with him!

We're partnered with Storage Vault/Sentinel Storage and have been using a locker here for a few years. The team at the facility as well as their operations team has been easy to work with and very reliable. For us, it's very important to be able to access our event equipment and other field-gear quickly and easily. The facility is clean, modern-feeling and easy to navigate. There's always dollies and carts available and parking is easy. They make it super simple and low-stress to securely store our equipment off-site. It's been a perfect location for our off-site storage. We recommend Sentinel Storage for all storage needs!!

I rented this small locker from Sentinel Storage from March 2019-March 2025. Easy access by code, clean facility, and automatic billing. I rarely had the need to contact anyone but when I did, the service was always great.

I've been super impressed with the service at the Richmond Sentinel. Looked all over town for vehicle storage and these guys seem to have the best deal and a great secure area for large and small vehicles. Don was super helpful in the office today! Many thanks team!

Rented a storage locker for my needs. Rates were very competitive. Most important is the customer service, cleanliness and professionalism. This company deserves your business. This review was based on 2 different visits and both times different folks with the same excellent customer service ethics. As business owner several times over, I appreciate a good place to do business.

The staff are particularly good, very patient in solving problems, and very professional. The storage is also very good, I highly recommend everyone to come here! And you can enjoy the first four weeks for free!

My experience with Sentinel, after only a few days, has been very good. The site manager was very friendly and helpful, and walked me through the procedures. My storage locker is clean, well lit, and seems quite secure.

Clean. easy to access. Friendly staffs. they are very helpful. Make sure you double check on the closing time. The first hour tab is for "call centre". You have to click on the 2nd tab to see the store hours.

A bit confusing but they close at 5pm

I had a very good agent who assisted me in determining my storage need by providing choices. I signed the lease of a parking space, however when I got there the space was not adequate. I was refunded my money and assisted in finding another storage space. I had a great experience with the staff. Much appreciated.

He took the time to answer all my questions and ensured I felt comfortable with the storage options available. Cons:
28d billing and changing due dates (If on a tight or fixed budget, you will be dinged by late fees, as due date keeps getting earlier in the month. My payments ballooned to 27.9% higher in 6 months with the rental increases and late fees compared to when I started).

Due date will get so early that you will be billed twice in one month. (highly inconvenient + negates the 4 week promo).

Rent increases every 6 months.

Lack of transparency (they do not make explicit/put policies in the user agreement ex. the rental increases).

Mandatory protection plan that does not cover anything. At least, the staff was unable to give me a direct answer as to what the coverage entails. (This is different from what is excluded, basically everything). Just an unfair money grab.

No repeat customer loyalty/ lack of interest in customer retention or referrals. (This would be the most frustrating aspect having been a customer for approx. 2 years in total).

Overall poor experience with this company that still leaves a bad taste. Despite receiving feedback, they made a very late and sorry attempt at "making amends" (offering me a monthly billing option, conveniently at their newly opened location, 2 months after I had already moved out and paid to hire movers to relocate my items to another self storage provider with monthly billing ...when I had been requesting this and trying to find a resolution for several months prior). What a joke. Was I supposed to rehire movers and move back to them? Or to now spend more money with them at their newly opened location after such bad treatment? The management team here are trolling.

I recommend using a self storage provider with monthly billing to avoid surprises. And I highly recommend going elsewhere for a better customer experience.

Every self storage provider on the planet allows the customer to start their rental cycle at any time during the month, regardless of billing method. (This was my experience with monthly billing). But if not, they'd prorate. What a lousy response. The due date will be constantly changing with the 28d billing anyway, with no regards to the customer's preference.

Case in point.. this is the level of poor customer experience you can expect from Sentinel. Good luck with the short sighted approach.

Everything well maintained and clean. Very secure and easy to navigate. Manager and staff very friendly, patient and helpful. Our first experience with storage and would definitely not hesitate to return and use again.

Don and Sasha were very helpful, patient and supportive. They went out of their way to make our experience as smooth as possible. Not to mention that the storage facility is very clean and well kept. Also, it is very easy load and unload, no ramps or awkward landscape just an automatic door and elevator.

I was very anxious about getting a parking space for my car because I had a flight Wednesday morning But Sasha (the agent at Bridgeport) found a place close to airport and was very pleasant, professional and patient with me as I got my insurance up to date and car registration information etc. Big relief to have that all sorted out so that I could spend Tuesday evening with my aunt.
