Greenhouse Landscaping Ltd, Toronto Reviews (3)
Our experiences were very satisfactory. Greenhouse completed all aspects of the project within budget, in a timely manner.
They showed flexibility when required, and courteousness at all times. Their ongoing maintanance services on our property have also been quite satisfactory. I would have no trouble recommending Greenhouse Landscaping to anyone, for all landscaping services.

We retained Greenhouse Landscaping Ltd. to build a substantial retaining wall and outdoor staircase leading to our basement. This project was carefully planned and well executed. Greenhouse obtained all necessary permits and approvals. Greenhouse also took care to preserve our neighbour's flowers and plants and to cause as little disruption as possible to our neighbour, even going to the extent of temporarily transplanting and then replanting our neighour's flowers and plants. (The retaining wall is on the property boundary.) Greenhouse hauled away all the debris and completely cleaned up after the project was completed.
We later hired Greenhouse to build a lattice fence and a gate. When a minor problem occurred with the gate, largely caused by its awkward location, Greenhouse promptly followed up to fix the problem at no extra charge.
Mr. Fred Middleton of Greenhouse is knowledgeable, conscientious and thoroughly professional.

We had a gigantic landscaping problem at our property in the Beaches/Bluffs area: how to control the erosion from the rather steep reverse-ravine(hillside) in our backyard, down to the living area below? We also wanted an attractive backyard we could enjoy living and entertaining in. We knew the solution was going to be difficult, and involve extensive engineering.
Greenhouse tackled this problem with great focus and determination, terracing the hillside with timbers, filling behind each wall with gravel for drainage, and designing/building a weeping tile system that not only carries away the excess water from each of the walls (4 levels!), but feeds into one master system designed to control and divert all water from the back-yard area, right out to the street. 5 years later, the walls are still intact and sound, there are no water/erosion problems any more, and better yet, we have recovered over 1000 sq. ft. of land from the hillside, now used for sitting, relaxing, and playing horse-shoes in the pitch they installed for us.
I will say this was an expensive project, but the last time we had a property evaluation done by our bank, the backyard landscaping put us well over the top, of our desired valuation level. Money well spent overall, and we will enjoy the benefits for years to come.

Greenhouse Landscaping began organically, growing from a family affair started here in our own backyard. Our new swimming pool needed landscaping, as does every new pool, but this one had a very unusual setting, at the bottom of a large hill, commonly called a ‘reverse ravine’. This hill also happened to be the old shoreline of Lake Iroquois, the pre-historic version of Lake Ontario. The level of the lake was approximately 30m (~100 ft) above the present level of Lake Ontario, about 13,000 years ago.
This presented gigantic challenges, so the Quebec branch of the family was called in, due to their lengthy, multi-generational experience in construction and landscaping, which was a good fit with our renovation-oriented experience here in Toronto. With the project being spread over 2 summers, the hill was eventually conquered and converted to an awe-inspiring series of terraced gardens, stairways, and footpaths. Requests from friends for help with their properties soon followed, and it became clear that there was potential for a new landscaping company to be formed.
Greenhouse Landscaping was started officially in the spring of 2007, based on the experience of the family members, and has transitioned smoothly from that one intimidating hillside, through many successful projects, centered around the east end of Toronto, mainly in the more urban areas such as Riverdale, Broadview-Danforth, and the Queen street area known as Leslieville.
