Nature has used a simple process to purify water. Water in rivers and lakes evaporates leaving contaminants behind. As the steam rises, it cools and re-condenses forming clouds. Once the clouds have too much water to hold, pure water is once again returned to earth, only to repeat the cycle forever. We heat water to the boiling point, creating steam, so that impurities are separated from the water, then discarded. The vapour is then condensed back into pure liquid form.
