My son rented a truck on March 28 from this location and paid everything in full by debit card, when he returned the truck the next day at 7.30 am. He was told that the credit card (mine) will not be charged for anything. However, a charge of $24.75 appears on my credit card statement, posted on March 28. I've contacted UHaul at Royal Windsor since then, to ask what is the charge for. I have also been talking to various customer service representatives, trying to get this charge straightened out from my credit card. I was told twice that my payment receipt for this amount will be e-mailed to me but nothing happened. How hard can it be to solve this issue fairly after all this time?

I'm a big fan of reviews written by (jennyk.n49.ca), so I was kind of shocked when she slammed the folks at U-Haul on Royal Windsor.

It appears that she may have gotten a US operator, who down there a debit card is issued by Visa or Mastercard... so no biggie there.

I needed a mobile storage unit, and an 12' truck from U-Haul fit the bill nicely!

Anyone else looking for a mobile Meth lab right out of Breaking Bad like me... then U-Haul is the place to go!

I also tried to book with this company more than a month in advance. Received a confirmation email and everything.Getting closer to the moving date I gave another call to confirm booking just in case. After giving the confirmation number they replied that the booking is there but there won't be any trucks available for that date !! After a while they decided that they can offer a larger truck at the same rate, as it is there mistake. Then the guy told me to come for pick up on Friday night instead of Saturday morning. Since that wouldn't work as I live in a building and have very limited access to parking they agreed that I'd pass to get the keys on Friday night and the truck on Saturday morning.
Following what have been told, I went Friday night to pick the keys, when they told me that they can't do that ..??? We tried to negotiate different options and it was really tough with their team.
The gentleman finally offered his final offer which was to take the truck the same night and park it anywhere close by, and then return it back by Saturday 12:00 NOON !!!!! When I asked how come the return would be at 12:00noon which would be only 18hrs. If I pick up the truck 7:00pm friday night I have to return at 7:00pm saturday night (24hr service) as mentioned. He bluntly replied back:"You booked it that way" .. Baring in mind that a minute before we were discussing options of returning the truck at 8:00pm next day instead of 7:00... When i told him how come he is saying so, he denied he said that and then he said: "Ok i may have been wrong" !!!
That was the biggest LIE from him that day. He had done much more of bad quality service but am trying to keep my story short :)

Finally, he said it is either u accept that and return it tomorrow noon ( which was impossible cause i had to move from Mississauga to waterloo and having an elevator booking from 8:00Am - 12:00noon) I told him that by the time we would move our things to the truck it will be the noon return time !!! He aggressively repeated his sentence again!! Like take it or leave it matter of fact.

That night my family were left on Friday 7:00pm with canceled truck rental, and spent nervous wrecking hours searching for other companies, but finally managed to get one and moved on time.

In short: Extremely bad service!!

I read the last review and have many thanks i didn't get the same response. I called, got the automated thing which is kinda annoying, but then pressed 2 for truck rentals and waited a minute before a guy named Darryl came on. He was polite and quick. Got my booking at a good time (booked 3 days in advance for a Saturday). Guess they fired that girl who didn't care for her job.

Ok so I'm moving to Toronto in September and decided to book my moving truck early (I've learned from past mistakes that September is a very popular month to move). I called this U-Haul location this morning at about 9:30, looking to get everything set up. No one answered the first two times I called, and after sitting there listening to about 15 rings you don't even get an answering machine (just that weird dialup noise). Finally, after a third try a very bored sounding woman answered the phone and then put me on hold to go get someone who can actually help me (why do you work at U-Haul if you don't know how to set up a reservation?). This "hold" lasted for about 10 minutes before I finally gave up.

So THEN I called the 1-800-GO-UHAUL number to try booking there. The girl was actually pretty friendly, but when it came down to paying for the truck she was out of her league. The conversation went something like this:

Uhaul: "So I'll just need your credit or debit card number in order to hold the truck for you."

Me: "I didn't know you can use debit cards for this kind of thing...weird."

Uhaul: "Um of course you can. Duh." (ok she didnt really say duh but the tone of her voice did)

INSERT ACCOUNT NUMBER HERE

Uhaul: "Ok and whats the expiration date on your debit card?"

Me: "Uh debit cards don't have expiration dates."

Uhaul: "Uh yes they do."

Me: "Uh no they don't."

Uhaul: "Can I put you on hold?"

INSERT HOLD MUSIC HERE

Uhaul: "So does your debit card have a Visa logo on it?"

Me: "NO IT DOESNT, ITS A FRIGGIN DEBIT CARD!!!"

Uhaul: "Ok then I'll need your credit card number."

Eventually I got everything booked up and settled (WITH U-Haul no less) but should I move again, I think I'll check out companies at move.ca other than U-Haul.

EDIT: The bored sounding woman is named Melissa. And she wasn't just having a bad day. I've called 3 times since this experience and I think she's just in a perpetually bad mood. I actually ventured to ask her if she likes her job and she summed it up pretty nicely: "No."

I like that you both start your side of the conversation with "Uh,"...I can hear the mutual disdain in your voices!
