We went here because of the smell outside the building that drew us in! We took the steak combo and the classic golden star combo that was to die for! Golden star has the perfect fries that aren't dry! There mixes of sauces and toppings go so well together! Thank you golden star for this wonderful tasty experience! We will be coming back!

Golden Star is truly in a league of its own. From the moment you unwrap the burger, that incredible charcoal-grilled smell hits you … and it only gets better from there. The patties are juicy, full of flavor, and have that nostalgic, smoky taste you just can’t find anywhere else.

What makes it even better is the portion size. You get a serious amount of food and protein for the price, it’s honestly unbeatable. It’s rare to find a place that delivers both quality and value like this.

If you’re craving a real, old-school burger done right, Golden Star is the spot. No frills, just really good food that keeps you coming back.

This place reminds me of a nostalgic diner. Great food with healthy portions. You can probably share one combo. The fries are good but a bit greasy. The hamburger and hot dogs are delicious. One of my favorite items is a milk shake. Worth a family trip

First visited this restaurant back in 1964 until 1969. Moving out of the the GTA. it was nice to see that it is still owned by the same family. Quality of the burger is just as good today as it was 60+ years ago. Have dropped in a few times over the years and it is the only "specialty restaurant" that I've been to, where they make their burgers by hand . If there is a lineup not to worry their service is a lot faster than the popular "fast food" restaurants A bit pricey, yes, but one has to look at the cost of food today and the fact that their burgers are hand made I will visit again when back in the GTA area.

Charming and nostalgic burger joint serving up no frills diner classics. I seriously enjoyed my meal here. This is probably the best poutine I’ve had in a really long time. Unfortunately too full to try their milkshakes, but will be back to give that a go. 10/10 would definitely recommend to others. Can’t believe it’s taken so long to try this place!

My son looooove it here - great food, great people and 60-plus years of quality good. A staple the area and we keep coming. I was ok introduced to Golden Star 25 years ago and it's still here - thriving!

Home of the All Star Burger is an understatement. Last time I came here I was a teenager. Use to come with my dad and the food was great. Staff are awesome. Family owned and run business... Went today with my husband and daughter for nostalgic reasons... (20yrs since id been)
Food is STILL great! Fries maybe a little on the soggy side but didnt mind it too much as we were really there for the burgers.
Owner was there to visit and over see the place which brought back so many memories. Staff are so polite and make you feel welcomed.
They make the food exactly how you ask for it. Needless to say we all left full and satisfied.

Omg! The food is spectacular and it is the most amazing burger I have tried in my whole life!!! Don’t let me start on the amazing staff there. Mo is the most amazing human being I’ve ever seen and love to eat there only because of his warming and welcoming great attitude. God bless him and definitely recommend it✌🏽

The burger was cooked perfectly and tasted great, just the way I like it. The owner/manager was warm and friendly, which added a nice touch to the experience. However, the cashier came across as unwelcoming. Overall, I enjoyed the vibe of the place.

Golden Star Burgers in Thornhill is a total gem if you’re into classic burger joints. Walking in, you get hit with all the nostalgic vibes—super retro, nothing fancy, just that old-school diner feel. I’d say the poutine is a must-tries too, the portions are big, and the prices are pretty reasonable, so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth. Had a fantastic experience at Golden Star! The Steak on Kaiser and the All Star Burger were both outstanding—juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. The cozy and welcoming atmosphere made it a great spot to enjoy a satisfying meal. Service was friendly and attentive, which added to the charm of the place. While everything was excellent, I felt the fries could have been a bit better. Still, I highly recommend Golden Star to anyone in Toronto looking for a classic burger experience. Whether you’re in for lunch or dinner, you won’t be disappointed with their tasty, fresh-made burgers!

Golden Star Restaurant has great quality food, but what really stood out was their amazing staff! Mo and the team went above and beyond by writing cute comments in my own language on the burgers, which was such a thoughtful touch. They were incredibly friendly, and the whole experience felt so warm and personal. Definitely going back again!

It was closer to a 3.5-star experience for us. The burger was a bit dry, and the chipotle sauce leaned too sweet. We tried the MVP burger, and for $16, we expected a bit more in terms of flavor.

Not the place it used to be. Food quality has declined. All the fries were broken end pieces. What is that?? Small pop with the order now and they don't even fill the cup. Asked for a refill - they don't give refills. The condiments on my steak sandwich were invisible. Tiny piece of tomato, couldn't see the onions. It was awful.

Won't be back.

Revisited this almost forgotten Thornhill greasy-spoon institution. Last visit was pre-Covid!
Had one of the best tasting ' Charbroiled no-filler Hamburger ' for a long while. Well charred, smokey and aromatic with a nice selection of toppings. $20 for a 6oz burger with extra bacon, fries, drink and gravy.

Today we visited Golden Star Burger, one of our favorite spots for a weekend lunch. The homemade burgers and MVPs are incredibly juicy and delicious, making it feel more like a home-cooked meal than fast food. The staff is always friendly and attentive. Today, one of the staff members surprised us with beautiful calligraphy handwriting that truly made our day. Thank you for such a great experience! Highly recommend this place for both the food and the wonderful service!
