Big Al’s Pet Supercentre – Brampton / Mississauga

I’m extremely disappointed with how Big Al’s handled my recent experience, and I feel it’s important to share this publicly so other customers are aware.

On October 27, 2025, I made an in-store pre-order purchase at the Big Al’s Brampton location for one cage and two sets of birds. Two payments were processed that day, totaling $1,430.47. At the time of purchase, I was not informed that the Brampton store would be closing permanently the very next day.

The following day, I was contacted and told that the store had closed permanently and that my order could not be fulfilled. I was clearly assured by management that a full refund would be processed within 5–6 business days.

It has now been well over a month, and despite multiple follow-up calls and emails, I have not received my refund, nor have I received any meaningful response from management. I was repeatedly told that someone would get back to me — no one ever did.

This is not a small amount of money. The complete lack of accountability and communication has been extremely frustrating. As a customer, I paid in good faith, followed up respectfully, and provided proof of payment when requested. Unfortunately, Big Al’s has not shown the same level of responsibility.

I am sharing this review not to attack anyone, but to ask for basic accountability and to warn others to be very cautious with pre-orders or large in-store purchases, especially during store closures or transitions.

I sincerely hope Big Al’s corporate team sees this and finally resolves the matter properly.

Big Al’s Aquarium in Mississauga is an absolute paradise for fish lovers! 🐠✨ The moment I walked in, I was impressed by how clean and well-organized the store was. They have an amazing selection of fish—from beautiful freshwater varieties to exotic species—plus everything you need for aquariums, tanks, plants, décor, and high–quality food.

The staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and genuinely passionate about helping customers. They took the time to answer all my questions and gave helpful tips for setting up and maintaining my tank. You can really tell they care about the animals and the hobby.

Whether you’re a beginner or a long-time aquarist, Big Al’s Aquarium is definitely the place to go. Highly recommended!

Just came to roam around but back when I had fish 10+ years ago, this was my go to place. They have aquarium equipment, fish, reptiles + equipment, and reptile food. There's quite a big collection

The store is quite large and very beautiful, they even have birds and lots of reptiles. Despite their fish selection there was quite a few species of fish I did not see there that I would have expected to see in a fish store like black knight ghost fish, green phantom pleco and syno petricola for example. However they did have some other varieties I normally dont see like the vampire shrimp which was nice. The only issue I have was the lack of assistance at some areas in the store, it wasnt overly busy, I had to grab someone at the front counter for some questions about aquarium kits then in the back where the fish stock is the issue was one of the staff talking on the phone while on the floor about sports and TV. Normally I wouldn't mind if I wasnt looking for assistance. I eventually had to have another associate call for someone to come help me. I'll come back again next time im in mississauga so hopefully next time will be a bit of a better experience. Either than that it is a solid store and I will revisit my rating of this store as I get more experiences with it.

This store is absolutely amazing. They have everything you would need, a huge selection of everything. Knowledgeable staff. There fish selection is unbelievable.
