We celebrated our wedding reception at the Capitol Event Theatre and would just like to thank everyone involved, especially Rene, for providing us with an absolutely perfect night!

From the moment we finally arrived through the cocktail hour, dinner and the last second of the last dance everything about the evening went smoothly and was had led with the greatest of care.

We have hear nothing except how much everyone loved the venue and its spectacular views and how much fun each of our 200 guests had during the whole event!

Thank you so much for making our special day totally magical and perfect!!

Can't wait to have another celebration at the Capitol Event Theatre!!!

We recently held our "2nd Annual C.C.E. Awards by deluxe" at the Capitol. The easiest decision our awards committee had to make was whether to return to the Capitol for this, our second year. The Capitol, with their great food, great interior, large bar, fantastic mezzanine, and hard working staff, helped make our first awards such a great success. They did not let us down for our 2nd Awards. Once again, not a single guest had a negative comment; everyone seemed thrilled with the ambience, the food and the staff.

Working with the Capitol leading up to the event is made easy by the wonderful event coordinators and schedulers. Friendly, accomodating and understanding!

The C.C.E. will look forward to a hat trick of awards nights next year at the Capitol!

Many thanks to all of the staff at the Capitol.

cannot even begin to express how pleased we were with the Capitol Event Theatre, where we held our May 2011 wedding. Everything about our wedding surpassed our expectations. Our guests were so impressed with the venue and loved the fun atmosphere. The huge bar and lounge area really set a fun tone and create a social setting unlike a standard wedding/banquet hall. The grandeur of the main room (with hardwood floors and a huge chandelier and stage) is classy and traditional, but with a modern vibe. We also loved that we could use the original marquee outside to put our own names and customized posters.

We held both our ceremony and our reception at the Capitol, with a cocktail reception on the Mezzanine level in between.

The meal was delicious, and we received such great feedback on all the various menu options (we started with a broccoli soup with goat cheese ravioli in it, and for the entrée, guests had an choice of chicken or braised short ribs – the nice thing was, they got to order their choice AT the venue, rather than having to make up their mind in advance via the RSVP. For dessert, we had crème brulée, and my Maid of Honour tells me it was the best dessert she ever had). We have heard nothing but raving reviews, even from the celiac vegetarians, who must have been a challenge for the chef. The food was still of top quality - my braised short ribs fell off the bone and practically melted in my mouth – and the presentation was also impressive. The late night snacks we chose were comfort foods – mini grilled cheese, sliders, and regular and sweet potato fries. Everyone enjoyed the meal so much that we heard many people say that were too full to enjoy the late night snacks. A good problem to have!

But above all else, the service was the most notably impressive aspect of the day. The staff at the Capitol were so incredibly accommodating to any and every request we made. Upon our arrival, my Mom asked how difficult it would be for me to get a cup of tea to calm my nerves before the ceremony began. We were worried that we would be putting the staff out during a very busy time - but the staff were so eager to help, and delivered a hot cup of tea to the “Green Room” (bridal suite) faster than we could have imagined. They also ensured that the Green Room was well stocked with water, wine, and anything else the bridal party might have wanted. They servers kept asking us if there was *anything* we wanted. We truly felt like VIPs, all night long.

During the dinner, the staff kept the napkins folded on the tables. And one thing that really impressed our guests – at each table, the plates were all laid by the servers at the exact same time. It felt like such a classy affair!

The bar staff (who even concocted a yellow drink to match with our wedding colours) and serving staff were amazing - so personable, so accommodating, and of great spirits all night long. All this while maintaining top-notch professionalism and class. Our guests truly felt welcomed, and I believe that the friendliness of the staff significantly contributed to that.

Leading up to the event, Carmelinda and Katelyn (a student I believe, who has since moved on) were both very pleasant to deal with, and quite organized. They really ensured that all our special requests were made. My only issue, which really had no impact on my day – was with the in-house A/V guys (Evolved Entertainment), who were slow to respond to emails and not overly helpful. We brought in our own DJ, but had to still pay $750 to use the Capitol’s audio system.

We cannot stop talking about what a perfect day it was. We recognize what a unique and customized event it was, and don't believe that we could have achieved that same feeling at any other venue. We have not one single regret about our day. We will be very quick to recommend the Capitol to anyone looking to throw a big event.

Capitol Event Theatre (Yonge and Eglington) -Service horrible, Food a Rip Off. Beware!!!!

We had our wedding at the Capitol Event Theatre at Yonge and Eglington in Toronto. Beware of this place. Only can I talk about it calmly 5 months after the disaster. I was crying on my wedding and was still shaken 1 month later. The service was down right horrible and the food was nowhere in quality in comparison to their expensive pricing. Most people at my wedding were left hungry and some people had to eat out after my wedding. That is not what you expect for $170 per head. That does not include the alcohol charge. Carlo Parentela, President & General Partner and Lisa Barbieri his Executive Assistant never compensated us for the disaster to this day nor did they even call me back after I sent my letter of complaint in. Dishonest business practices!! They charged us gratuities in full before the event and have tip jars at all of the bars?

This is an example of how the chef and event planners Kaitlyn Isles and Carmelinda DiManno treated us. I asked for an appointment or even to be able to discuss the food with a chef so he can help us select the menu. When finally did call me back this is how the conversation went. I said “Hi, I am so happy to hear from you. My fiancé and I wanted to be able to discuss the menu with you quickly and he said to me. “What’s your problem with the menu?” He said it with an attitude like me asking to speak to him was inconveniencing him. He then said with attitude “ Didn’t you choose this menu? You did not taste this stuff? “ Why was he being rude to us? He was not even aware of the circumstances regarding the food and he was rude to us. When we finally did meet with him. It was such a rush, again like we were inconveniencing the hall. It was so important that our food was enough because I did not want 172 hungry people and they kept reassuring me that the food would be enough and it would be great. From the canapés that I tasted...the vegetable wrap did not taste good and so people hardly ate it. There were pieces in the wrap that were not edible and that I had to politely put in a napkin. The little toast crackers with a cheese on it were also not tasty and I could not finish mine. The chicken skewers and the lamb lollipops were good. I was praying that the salad, entree and dessert were amazing like Kaitlyn, Carmelinda and the chef reassured me but they were not at all.

They got the most important things on the day of my wedding like...what time the reception started (my guests were clueless when they walked into the venue because the place was not even set up. They forgot where my head table and cake table were to be placed and they asked my when I was greeting my guests. They dragged me into a room to sign a credit card slip that was already processed for a small amount of $300 before they were going to greet any of my guests even though I had already paid over $25,000 in full including all of the gratuities. This could have been done after the perhaps.

I am just warning anyone thinking of spending your hard earned money here. Think twice and do not be fooled by their description of what the night will be like. There were so many more problems but that should be enough for anyone.
