Wedding at Strates Banquet Hall
I am planning my wedding at Strates in September 2010. The owner is very nice and accommodating to all of my requests. The coordinator is very nice, but I recommend discussing details with John (owner) because he will do everything to make what you want a reality.
The food trial was good however I don’t like the fact that we could not taste everything that was going to be at the wedding (i.e colde Verde soup, appetizers ect). We are having a Portuguese themed menu. The filet of sole is not Portuguese style. We have requested a different way of making the fish, and this will be done for our wedding day. The entrées were spectacular. Highly recommend the fillet mignon! The 9oz New York stake was well done but overcooked for my likening. The garlic butter sauce was phenomenal. The best veggies I have ever had: Broccoli and parmagian tomatoes. Mmmm good.
The hall is beautiful when it is all done up in lights. The head table linens can be anything you want (overlay, with lights etc.) however the table clothes are basic. The colors are a nice selection though. Any additional overlay is $10 per table. We chose brown table cloth with champaign colored napkins. The chair cover colors cannot be changed without a $2 fee per table. This really disappointed me because they are a peachy color and I wanted a champaign color. I may change the chair covers before the wedding.
Overall, planning a wedding at States has been hassle free. One word to the wise, no matter what they tell you, the hall capacity is no more that 190 people (and that is with 14 ppl at the head table). We are having 10 ppl at the head table, so the max that we can have in the hall is 170, and that is with two tables half on the dance floor.
Hope this review helps some brides out there!
All the best.
