I searched many places for my dress and I finally found my dream dress at Sposa Italia. Unfortunately, I had the WORST experience there. When I asked Lia, what brand the dress is she said “it’s our in house brand – Sposa Italia and they are made in New York.”
So I bought the dress.
A few months later, as I was searching the internet for bridesmaid dresses, I saw my exact dress on the Allure website. I was shocked.
At this point, I decided to look into the situation and made a few calls. I called Allure and explained the situation. They couldn’t help me out much because they said it is possible that the dress can be their own in house brand and they copied it. But I also had my friend call Sposa Italia and ask if they had the Allure dress in stock because they are Allure carriers. They do the dress and they also told my friend the price- which was $1000 less than what I paid for my “Sposa Italia” brand dress.
Fast forward, it’s time for my first fitting. I printed out a picture of the Allure dress to have on hand.
I tried on my dress, and then asked Lia what the difference is between MY dress and the dress in the picture. Well, she came up with some b.s about the lace being different, the beading, etc. So I told Lia that I know that they are Allure carriers and the Allure dress is $1000 less than what I paid. I also asked her why she didn’t show me the Allure dress since the store actually admitted to having it in the store.
Well Lia seemed “confused” because the original style number of the Allure dress and her “Sposa Italia” dress were different – so the dresses must not the same. Yea right.
At this point I went to take my dress off and what do I see in the tag of the dress – ALLURE BRIDAL. Yes, not Sposa Italia’s tag.
So in the end, Lia apologized for her “mistake” and gave me back the difference. But the moral of the story my friends, do your research first and do not buy a dress at Sposa Italia especially if they claim the dress in made in house. There is no such thing. My dress was an older Allure model and many stores in the area did not have the sample to try on. They took advantage of this and decided to claim it as their own.
Luckily, they forgot to rip the tag out and I was able to catch them in the act. This isn’t the first time I’ve had something like this. I was lucky enough to catch them because they hadn’t replaced the tag with their own yet.
