Hot tub service problems
My hot tub broke down. Emailed Cal Spas to come over and assess. The email said $95 for the service call, ok i thought thats reasonable. Two men show up 30 minutes later, (they look unkempt and not professionally dressed at all) they take ten minutes to look at the tub and say you need to replace the main board. Thats what I thought was wrong all along as well. They say that will be $200 for the service call. I say thats not what it said in the email. They say too bad the extra 100 is for the actual looking at it. I pay the bill and right away send an email to their supervisor who never replies back. I complain in the email that the men never left me an invoice for the work so a few days later one appears in my email from the company. Still no reply to my complaint about being over charged.
The guys who came tell me as they are looking at the hot tub that it will be another $1200 to repair it. After they leave i start to look into things a bit deeper and finally decide to order the part from a supplier here in Canada and find out the part is only $600 shipping included. The part arrives and it takes me no longer that 20 minutes to put it in. Keep in mind I have never done it before.
Based on what I have been through I think Cal Spas is a rip off! I have no problem with paying a tradesman a fair living wage but $600 to do 20 minutes work is in my opinion a bad faith operator. I would suggest you look into another more reputable company before you use these folks.
