Interac machine is always breaking down

Quigley's is a nice place to have a drink - especially on their patio, weather permitting. However, it is most peculiar that their Interac/credit card machine regularly stops working
and you have to pay cash. I have never experienced this on such a regular basis at any other business. Since the place receives cash on a regular basis, you wonder if the owner isn't up to something funny - especially since it's possible not to have a paper trail under these circumstances.

Opened an hour late

One day last week the store opened at 11:00 a.m. instead of 10 a.m.. So I called head office. The following day I received a call from a Beer Store rep who was very courteous and explained that he was a aware of the problem and they were looking into it. He said he appreciated my call and told me hopefully it would not happen again. This was really well handled and and shows they are very conscientous. As for the individual store, with the above exception they give excellent service.

Very expensive

Just about everything at Summerhill Market is expensive. Their vegetables are the same as you get everywhere else such as Sobey's and Loblaws but are usually double the price. The same goes for their shelf items such as juices and packaged foods. Their main claim to fame is their prepared foods. However, they are certainly not outstanding and their prices are often ridiculously high for what you get. The only items which are reasonably priced are their breads, pastries, and organic meats and poultry which are more or less in line with other stores.
However, the staff are very friendly and accommodating. If you must come here by car don't park in the parking lot when it's busy. The place is usually jammed with customers who insist on bringin their SUVs, even when maany live just a few blocks away. It's so bad they often have a policeman on duty to direct traffic.

Outstanding staff

All sorts of people come here. People from affluent Rosedale and not so affluent people from south of Bloor St.. However, the staff go out of their way to make everybody feel at home. The result is a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. No one is ever pressured or hassled and the employees really like working here and always go out of their way to help you. The coffee is excellent too.

High gas price

I've been going to this store all my life. I remember when you viewed the item you wanted to buy in a display, wrote down the information and gave it to a person on roller skates who got the product for you.
Anyway, prices are good but don't expect to find a lot of sales staff. Generally the staff are friendly and helpful except for the odd rude one. Their return policy is excellent. I've never had a problem with them.
The price of gas at the gas bar is always higher than other local stations. Mr. K. W. Mann, the franchisee, likes to get top dollar here. During the oil spike a couple of years ago he charged $1.35/litre - higher than anyone else that I'm aware of in the Toronto area. Save a few cents and go to the Shell station a couple of blocks north.

Great hamburgers

This restaurant is generally clean and there is a small parking area. The main attraction of this and other Harvey's is the food, particularly the hamburgers. In my opinion Harvey's has the best burgers of any fast food restaurant anywhere. The meat patties actually taste really good, even better than some pretentious upscale hamburger places. Indeed most other fast food places like McDonald's have truly tasteless meat patties. Harvey's has managed to buck the trend and make hamburgers that taste like hamburgers instead of all the junk they put on them at other fast food places.

Excellent service

I have gone here a number of times mainly for their free coffee which is quite good. The staff are very efficient and polite and the place runs smoothly.
Recently I thought I'd try a Big Mac to see if there was any improvement. Unfortunately it's the same hamburger they have been serving in the past. The meat patties are quite tasteless and all the flavour comes from the condiments. If you want a good hamburger try Harvey's.

Bill

I took my 2009 Matrix here for the 32,000 km service which was satisfactory and at a reasonable price. However my ederly neighbour had a different experience which has made me think twice about going back here for service.

She recently paid $2400 for servicing her 2006 Toyota Matrix with 50,000 km on the odometer which is a bit high, in my opinion. I know this for a fact as I had a chance to quickly review the bill. 2 new front tires and front rotors; a new water pump - they said the old one had a hole in it, according to my neighbour; $20 labour to change the air conditioning filter - should take about 5 minutes max; they also changed the automatic transmission fluid even when they told her it didn't need changing but she agreed to have it changed anyway - these are a few of the items on that repair bill. Based on this I would advise anyone dealing with the service department to be very careful about getting any work done here and demand to see any parts that were replaced. I certianly wouldn't let my mother go here unless I came with her!
