nice place, next time i try the patio...

We went to this place for a little casual business lunch. The place is quite nice and very clean. We got greeted by the hostess and seated, but then the rest of the staff is extremely slow considering this was busy lunch time and the place was almost empty. But they are all very very polite :-)

Our meal was delishious. I ordered my usual butter chicken, it was a bit on the spicey side but the extra kick was toned down with the yogurt sidedish. TinaA ordered chicken dish with salad, and Chris had a wrap, all of which was impossible to finish!! the portions were generous.

Next time I am gonna sit on the patio though, while waiting for the staff I can enjoy the bypassing pedestrians and cars ;-) ... its in a great location near Yonge & Davisville.

Next time I am going to order the Butter Chicken dish. My salad wasn't nearly as good at the other dishes.

I think this restaurant deserves another chance as they are new. They may just be up to speed with service now sinse it has been a few weeks since we visited.

I don't see butter chicken in the photos...?

Overworked and completely stressed out, my boyfriend decided I finally needed a vacation. Mini vacation that is, just to get my senses back in line. And to completely indulge ourselves, we chose Taboo resort - go big or go home kind of deal :-)

It’s a beautiful sunny morning and we hit the road with excitement and my latte in the cup-holder. Two hours later, exiting the highway onto a tree line road, we arrive to the resort. I can’t wait to see the rooms.

The staff welcomes us with huge smiles and shows us 2 rooms to choose from. First one was a more expensive suite with living room, kitchenette and more traditional furnishings. The other one in the newly renovated block, ultra modern room, not a suite, but the balcony and view made my heart sing. Sold. I absolutely loved the décor, it just added onto the whole luxurious experience. I don’t even unpack and go immediately on the tour around the...

Lesson learned

I can't say anything bad about these guys really. I am so grateful this store exists in Toronto. They have the best selection of everything. This incident is quite funny (more than anything else) and can happen just about anywhere.

Just about what do you think happens when you cut the foot of an xmass tree on an angle/diagonally? Well … let me tell you what happens when you cut the tree like that instead of straight flat:

1. First, you buy your regular xmass tree stand. Because you need to put your beautiful, new, $100, really heavy and prickly tree into something. You are so happy with joy and the whole apartment smells so wonderful.

2. Then, you go on a shopping binge. Because this really beautiful $100 tree deserves the most beautiful tree decorations, so you spend another $500 in Pier One on balls, glass figures, xmass lights (I have a nightmare story about that too), this and that and whatever ... you...

haha you are absolutely right ... looking back at the situation makes me laugh unlike the cleaning up of broken xmass balls :-)

oh so stylish!!

I love Spring Rolls restaurant. Their mango something salad is crazy good and so is the pad Thai and the spring rolls themselves etc. Therefore I was really happy to find out they deliver. And what do you know ... delivery service is just close to where I live.

Pick up the phone, order food, I know exactly what I like, easy peazy 30 min later doorbell rings and in front of me stands delivery dude.

He hands me off this great looking bag full of food. Just look at it ... it looks delicious just because! It looks like a shopping bag from a nicer store. I pay, walk upstairs and start unpacking these goodies. The smell is killing me, food is to die for - but we knew that, that's why we called spring rolls. Mango something salad is the most refreshing dish ever, (in my opinion anyways) probably because of the combination of sweet & sour mango and cilantro. If you have it as a dish, they add ground chicken with cashews on it... (Kill me...

i just like milestones

I really don't want to for some reason :-) I guess I like better smaller restaurants or establishments with unique character and personalized approach of the owner caring for you as a guest.

Leaving that on the side, I like everything else about this chain.

1. CONSISTENCY
It doesn’t' matter what location I go to, they all make my salmon (my new obsession) the same way, or doesn’t matter what I order, its all very good and tasty - consistently.
2. OPERATIONS
Its always clean, staff is very polite, professional and quick, never have to wait for anything, ladies room are very clean
3. DESIGN
Its' contemporary designs manage to create secluded areas for privacy, yet open enough for googling over other people (if that's what you are into - I love watching people around me)
4. WINE
Wine selection is great and they have the right kind of glasses (yes, the tall...

We love Milestones too, but hate to admit that we enjoy this CHAIN food restaurant. But as you said, food is consistently good no matter which location we frequent. And the spinach-artichoke dip is delicious. It's great establishment to come to whether as a couple or family.

I KNOW!! hahah that's funny .. why is it that people don't wanna like this place, yet they do :-)

End of our summer trip

Last summer, visiting my family in Europe, we ended the trip in Halifax for my boyfies family reunion. We stayed at this hotel located directly at the waterfront, steps away from the cutest part of the city.

The hotel was very clean and our room really spacious, appreciated mostly after coming from Europe and their standard hotel room sizes just simply don't compare (don't get me wrong, I love them so much better ;-) Modern/contemporary furniture, overlooking the waterfront, comfy bed, just everything one needed at the moment. And that was just that. Nothing special, nothing too exciting, just plain good. Though their spa facilities looked really welcoming, we couldn’t get appointment for the next day due to the busy time of the year. Oh well, there is always next time.

There were about 2-3 weddings happening at the time and we didn't get to try any other facilities or restaurants. I am sure that may have sparkled a bit...

So Delicious!!

I am never crazy for the totally organic and natural places, lets face it, the stuff just don't taste too good, but something smelled really good when walking by this location. We walked in and looked at the menu.

To our surprise, there were lots of choices in terms of the pasta itself. From some organic spelt (don't even know what that is really) whole-wheat, to gluten free rice flour pizzas, not containing any commercial yeast and made out of sourdough starter. Ok so I ripped this off of their website, but who is to remember all this ;-)

And the result?
Humungous pizza was so flavourful because the ingredients were fresh and they made sure there is tons of it on top. Crust was thin just the way we like it but the flavour of it was really intense. SOO GOOD!! And we ordered the regular dough with some pepperoni and chicken and green peppers ... the regular Joe kind of deal. Scrumptious.

Next we...

SOMETHING LIKE IN ... COMMUNISM?

Somebody please help me to decide which one of these plants will work well on my patio!!!

In a search for nice flowers for our roof top patio, we have run into several bumps on the road. One of them quite upsetting to me but this one applies to Canada (or at least Toronto) in general.

It’s the beginning of summer and there are NO flower-plants left in Canadian Tire garden centre. Well neither there are in Home Depot really - only green plants - hardly any flowers.
(Just as it’s before xmass and there are no xmass lights left in the stores, or its the middle of summer and there are no bathing suits left in the stores or middle of winter and there are no ski pants left in the stores)

I know, I know, I should have done this in spring, but in spring there was no need for me to get my patio ready and get some potted flowers. With the condo development craze happening right now, there has got to be such a...

Breathtaking creations

I walk by this store every time I take a stroll on the Danforth, with my latte in my hand, on a nice sunny day.

Couple of weeks ago I actually walked in because I couldn’t resist. They had the most beautiful creation in the store window. It was some chunk of old tree brunches intertwined with exotic flowers, very elegantly placed in a beautiful container, I think it may have been a clay pot.

Going around the store, one display after another didn't fail to amaze me. The simplicity of these nature elements combined with exotic flowers and ultra modern vases - either wall-mounted or free-standing, clay or glass or wood, sure didn’t lack on imagination.

Even palm leafs were braided/woven to create a visual interest and elegant, polished sophisticated look. They import all the wood pieces from around the world, some of the locations include India and Africa.

Just the most beautiful things I...

Always a good time with the lolitas

We found this cute little hidden gem by chance one night, looking for the "not so Greek" place on the Danforth (yes, I know). We wanted to have the "last drink", before the last call, before calling it a night. So here we are, entering the doors, not knowing what we are getting ourselves into.

We get greeted by basically everyone, the staff and the customers alike - some dancing in the middle of the restaurant to the happy house-ie tunes, some sitting at the bar and some still munching on some deserts!

We get lined up at the bar, one shot, two shots, and the next thing you know we are all friends, dancing together, having a good time. It was no different the next time or any other time we showed up late at night. Not so long ago we actually met the chef David as well and we couldn’t resist but try one of his deserts. They make them all in the restaurant.

Thick, chocolaty slice of heaven, with spoonful of...
