Having moved from Ontario, I needed a safety check in order to register my Blaser in Manitoba. (I had had the vehicle fully inspected at a GM dealer before leaving Ontario for the drive here, and was told that everything was in A-1 condition, but as this was not an official safety check, it was not accpetable for registration) I was amazed to be told that the technician at this Canadian Tire failed my vehicle, saying it needed the lower ball joints replaced. So I took the vehicle to the GM dealer up the road, to have these replaced. They checked the vehicle, and called me to tell me that in order to fail a safety inspection, the ball joints would have to register at 125, yet mine were only registering 25, so they were perfectly FINE !!! So the GM dealer issued my safety inspection certificate as a full pass.
Both garages would have benefited from the $500 they would have charged me for parts and labour, so it is obvious which of the two is carrying on the more honest business practices.
