Warning! Questionable billing practice
I am writing this on behalf of my mother, who is an 80 yr old senior.
BOTTOM LINE: Warning he takes advantage of seniors... Please read below... I got Jim's name from a friend and he came highly recommended. He was hired to fix some stuff at my mother's house. She's 80 years old. Originally I thought Jim was going to meet with my mother to give her a quote for all the work needed to get done. To much surprise, he started work that very day. Jim did not give my mother a quote for the work outlined, he charged her $70/hr. At no point did he ever ask about budgets, or warn her that the amount was rising. When asked about the quote, he says to fix things you can't quote it, you just do it and he will charge by the hour. 40 years of experience and he can't figure out the costs to fix a toilet? Really? And to make things worse, he blamed my mother and me for not telling him that she had a budget and that she had financial concerns. I think anyone in business knows that things like budgets and scope of work need to be discussed. In the end, she paid $2105 for fixing the following: 2 toilets; 5 fluorescent lights, fixing 2 exterior faucets, changing interior faucets washers, painted a ceiling. I feel he has taken advantage of a senior, $2100 is absurd for what was needed.
