dishonest and very greedy

Dr. Jeff Sciberras is dishonest and very greedy . I went to him for a simple eye exam and declined any other extra tests even though the guy at the counter tried his best to convince me .

However when I met the doctor he said I might have contaracts in my eyes and it's recommended that I get the "extra tests" done. I still declined . Dr than said it will only add $10 extra rest insurance will cover. So finally decided to get them done . After unnecessary tests the total came to $175 and insurance only covered $104 while I had to pay $71 from my own pocket. The doctor was no where to be seen once time came for payment. "too busy with other patients "

The worst part is I had to go to another doctor because the eye exam was inaccurate. STAY AWAY from this fraud and greedy "doctor".

Hello Dare2liv, I have just been notified of this review so I apologize for a delayed reply. I do not know of any combination of tests that would result in fees of the amount quoted, unless you also had a contact lens fitting, which it sounds like you did not. My staff has specific instructions to not apply any pressure when discussing optional testing. I do strongly recommend digital retinal exams in general because I feel it offers insight to the examination of ocular health, as do many other professionals in my field. Our general eye exam has specific components that will detect cataracts, and so no additional fees are required to make such a diagnosis. I would be more than happy to speak with you if you have any questions pertaining to your visit or diagnosis, or share any information you require with another health service provider. As for the cost of frames in my office, the majority of frames are well below $250, only KIO YAMATO AND SILHOUETT are routinely above this dollar amount, as they are considered premium brands and technologies. Our dispensary does have single vision frame and lens packages for all ages for $150 including antiglare and scratch protection, and $250 packages for digital progressive lenses including frame and similar lens coatings. All patients at the completion of their eye exam are entitled to a copy of their prescription for eyeglasses and are free to use any third party provider of eyewear.
