I felt i had to write a review because I was so insulted today. Customer service is usually fine but staff seem too busy to answer questions, like what is the black mold on the strawberries? Ive noticed this for past three years and wont buy them from that market anymore.
Today I was attacked by a staff when she accosted me asking me/scolding me/telling me not to use their plastic bags...really? I have been going here for past 7 or 8 years and today I selected a huge bushel that had about forty peppers in it, as i had knapsack and couldnt carry that huge bushel and continue shopping I took the bushel over to the lettuce area and placed the peppers in two large salad bags. That was when the woman swooped in. I think its rude to accost customers and treat them as though they were 5 year olds that have to be monitored. In any case, that wasnt very nice.
Otherwise, the produce is okay. I dont always know which food is coming from US or China like the garlic and other products. They are also selling cartel avocados from Mexico but I dont dare ask anyone there if they know about that, and I also wonder where some of their produce comes from, as I dont want to support China simply because of how they grow their food, add things to it, etc.
I think people who work in customer service industry should be there to help people, not to accost them when they are shopping. I explained I had been shopping there for many years and I knew they charge for plastic bags and when I said I couldnt carry the huge basket of peppers, she said that I should have used the push carts. Well, the aisles in this market are so small that even two people meeting have to squeeze by and I never thought of using the pushcart because I never do,. But it was her attitude, thinking that she could swoop in there like that. I’ve NEVER been any where in any store where I was chastised as I was shopping, and I am 59 years old, so I hope that the Trottier family, at Marche Cote des Neiges, if they read these reviews, will encourage their staff the be helpful, courteous, not unpleasant and rude, to customers.
