Always good food!

Not exactly a 'classy' place but it's a truck stop and it does what truck stops do best: serve huge portions of "almost" home made food for a reasonable price by servers who make you feel more than welcome to be there. From the train track that runs around the ceiling on a wooden track that my kids used to just love watching, to the many mobiles hanging over the cash register up front, to the big juke box at the back to the little table top juke boxes, this place is exactly what you expect in a truck stop. I've been a customer since before the restaurant was in the building it's in now (used to be part of the gas station right on the corner) and can't ever think of a time when we had bad food or bad service.

No problems here

My son and I brought in a truck load of bottles and cans about six weeks ago. We added up the amount of $$ we thought we were getting back so we wouldn't get ripped off. We sorted cans from bottles, 1l + under from over 1l and up. Removed bottle caps, etc to make their lives easier. Turns out we didn't need to sort and our math was wrong. We got back more than $10 over what we calculated. We brought more in since then, and never bothered to sort or calculate. The service is very quick and I do believe they're very honest.

The only thing I wish though was, that they could crack a smile. I find they don't talk to their customers at all. While they're counting, I can understand. But at the cash register or while they're cleaning up between customers is another story.

I think the smiling thing is cultural. I find a lot of immigrants aren't that friendly

I got turned off of them....

A few years back, they had a stand in the Round Up Center arts and crafts section during the Stampede, and had a selection of camera`s. I saw the Rebel and told my husband that was the camera I wanted. The jerk behind the counter said, `NO YOU DON`T! YOU WANT THIS ONE!` and proceeded to try to sell me a point and shoot camera!

We bought a Rebel XTi from Best Buy and my lenses from The Camera Store. I refuse to shop Vistek because of this one idiot who told me what I want.

The only take out chicken we eat

I`ve been taking home Chicken on the Way for 31 years. They make the best ever corn fritters!!!! It`s take out only, but so worth the trip clear across the city. You get a LOT more food for your money than you would at KFC, and it tastes so much better. Don`t let the run down look of the building scare you off. There is almost always a line up inside, which tells you it`s good food! We always get the 3 piece bonus meals. There`s plenty in each meal to fill you up. Extra fritters are always on order too.

Love this place

Worth the drive across town to go to. We`ve been fans of this restaurant since they were on 52nd and Memorial. Now we drive a lot longer, but it`s worth it. The portions are big, and I love how they wrap everything in brown paper. The fish always tastes great and the customer service has always been great.

The map for this location is wrong. It`s by the Safeway on the corner of McKnight and 52nd Street.

yes I see thanks. funny because Google has it write - and we just use the Google feed. Perhaps Google recently updated it. I checked out address and postal code is correct.

never shopping there again

As a customer of Shoppers for over 30 years, the last straw came 2 weeks ago when a blow dryer/curling iron was purchased at the Sunridge location. I asked if it could be returned in BC and the cashier said as long as there is a receipt, it can be returned anywhere. The next day, it was used and was too hot, so we returned it to the Forest Lawn location. The supervisor said she had to get permission from the assistant front store manager for a refund. The assistant front store manager refused to refund us our money because it was against health policies to return hair care products. I told her that as a former employee of that particular store, I knew the policy and health reasons only apply to earrings and under garments. She still refused to refund us our money and told me to call head office. I already had them on my cell phone and was on hold, waiting for an operator. We headed for the Sunridge location where we were told that because the package was opened, we had to...
