Terrible new car delivery experience...
I usually don't leave any comments on the web regarding reviews of a product or service but I feel strongly to do so in this instance..
I recently bought a new 2017 black Chevy Volt from Dueck Richmond and I am loving it.... The car demonstrates great fuel economy, styling and tech features to go with it.
What I don't like is the lack of customer service from that dealership's employees: Sales Manager, Mike Brown and rookie Salesman, Silvester. I bought the car on Monday, August 15/16 so the deposit was paid and all was well. I was promised that the car will be ready for delivery on that Friday, August 19th. When I arrived to the dealership on Friday at 1pm with my family I was greeted by my salesman Silvester. He went outside to show me my brand new purchase. To my horror I saw this black car riddled with water spots, grime and dirt! The door jams were filthy and the driver's mat still had the dirty foot prints from the lot boys boots?? As any customer would do, I turned around and asked Silvester on what the heck is going on here? Why hasn't my car been detailed or even washed? He was lost for words and mumbled words under his breath and looked at his feet. Even the lot boy who was overhearing this was laughing at him trying to put words together. I told him that this was absolutely unacceptable and I demanded to talk to the Sales manager immediately. This is when I was introduced to Mike Brown (what a real piece of work he was).
This burly guy Mike came from behind his desk already rolling his eyes with such arrogance. He's a big man, his shirt was not ironed and he had these huge black sunglasses perched on his bald head. When I told him that the car was unclean he just stood there with a stare that meant "I don't give a f**k". During my rant this rude man answered his cell right in the middle of our conversation! Once he was done he told me that I didn't have to take the car if I didn't want to. Now I was actually pissed and fuming mad. At the same time I was trying to keep my composure as my family was watching from behind me. He lacked the compassion, caring and understanding that any true Manager would have had. He absolutely had no damage control skills and told me they had inexperienced staff working there and would look into it and walked away. I continued to loiter around the showroom and waited patiently for over an hour and a half to the point I told Silvester that I was leaving as my family was tired and my 4 year old daughter was hungry and sleepy. They didn't even offer us any water or anything! During the walk out I also bump into Mike at the exit doors to tell him I was leaving. He wasn't concerned one bit and told me to come tomorrow at 3pm to have the car.
When I got home I called Emmanuel Kobas another Sales Manager I dealt with during the purchase negotiations and he was very understanding and sympathetic to my experience. He couldn't do anything as it was his day off. I finally let the weekend pass and saw him on Monday, August 22 to finally pick up the car. When I got there I made it clear to him that I didn't want to deal or see Silvester and especially Mike Brown. The car was detailed and I was introduced to Matt (Assistant Sales Manager). What a breath of fresh air he was. He patiently showed me the car and went over the features in great detail. I was impressed. I thought to myself I wish I had this man from the beginning as he deserved the commission not Silvester.
In a normal circumstance I would not even left a review. The reason I am giving this review half a star is because of Matt otherwise it was a pathetic car delivery experience to say the least. I have bought many new cars from dealerships from Lexus to Honda's and they all were excellent in the way they treated me with dignity and respect. If anyone is going to buy a GM car here please go straight to Matt and Emmanuel and stay clear of Silvester and definitely Mike Brown as they are sleaze bags especially Mike Brown!
Rant over... Head hurts and I'm going to have a glass of wine now."
