Would not trust Paul Barrington as...
I was in the store on December 5th with my husband looking for a shearling coat. I found one I liked. My husband asked Paul Barrington whether the coat was on sale. Paul said, "No". Then my husband asked whether there were any sales coming up. Paul said, flat out, "No". I asked whether they had more of the coat in stock, if I decided not to buy it that day and think about the purchase for a few days. I was told they could not get another. No one checked the computer inventory to answer the question. By the way, the saleswoman whom we dealt with would not answer any of the aforementioned questions. She nervously referred them all to Mr. Barrington. I bought the coat. I paid $2,450.00 plus tax. After wearing it twice, one of the buttons was almost falling off. I called the store and they told me to bring it in. So I took time out of my vacation to return it to the store when the seamstress was available. I took it in on December 30th and lo and behold! All the shearling coats were 30% off for the annual Boxing Day Sale! That's a difference of $830.00 including tax from what I had paid three weeks earlier! Of course Paul knew he was having a Boxing Day Sale when we inquired on December 5th! He could have said there would be a Boxing Day Sale but could not guarantee the coat would still be there. I could understand that. But to flat out tell us there were no sales??!! My girlfriend was with me when I picked up my coat on the 30th, and Paul was trying to sell her a shearling coat. They did not have her size in the store, so Paul checked the computer inventory to tell her what sizes he could bring in for her. I got no such courtesy when I had asked about availability of stock for my coat on December 5th. Pressure, pressure, pressure to buy. And I spend that kind of money and the button is loose after wearing it twice. Mr. Barrington seems only concerned about the almighty dollar and getting the sale, not about developing a good relationship with people who will chose to shop there. I happen to live in Oakville, and got 'attitude' from him about being a downtown Oakville store Really?! Hope the 'ladies who lunch' will keep him in business, because this is one working woman who works hard for her money and will NEVER shop there again.
