Great Furniture, failed service
I have purchased well over $50,000 worth of furniture from Barrow over the last 20 years. Several purchases were made in Dothan, Alabama and the rest were in Mobile. The service was always great until a couple of years ago when my wife and I purchased 2 leather reclining sofas which cost somewhere in the neighborhood of $4500.00.
The sofas looked great in the showroom and the leather quality was impeccable. The only reservation I had was the recliner mechanisms.
You see, wife and I had purchased a similar couch from a different manufacturer about 10 years ago. The first couple of months were great but after that we began to notice the sag in the backs. They wouldn't go completely and evenly back up and after a while we would hear what sounded like cracking wood in the seat backs. The couch was replaced by Barrow and the new set lasted well into 5 years when we decided to give it to a family member. The family member still uses it to this day.
Now, 2 sofas later we went back to Barrow to find our current couches. I expressed my reservations to the sales lady and she assured me that Barrow had never had any complaints about this expensive line of furniture whatsoever. She assured me that this manufacturer used highest quality mechanicals and it took very good care of its customers well after purchase because of their impeccable reputation.
Well, 3 months after purchase the same thing happened to these. Keep in mind my wife and I are not heavy and we do not abuse our furniture.
Barrow sent a repair guy out and parts were ordered. When he arrived with the parts a couple of weeks later, he proceeded in taking the couches completely apart in my living room! The work was so sloppy that I am still poking wires back and stapling the black fabric back under the bottom. Since that repair, other problems have occurred including transformers shorting out on the motors and thread breakage where the flex points are positioned. When I called Barrow, they brushed me off and replied "sorry, we've done all we could". " The manufacturer refuses to do anything more". We still the furniture but we have sworn that we will never step foot in there nor will we buy from Barrow again. Sad
