Bike malfunctioned after only 2...
I went to the Scarborough (Bartley Dr.) store to enquire about buying or renting a stationary bike. First I was shown a very expensive one that I could rent for a minimum of 3 months - this was fine as that is the time frame I had in mind. When I asked about the rental price, I was told that I would have to purchase the bike and pay for delivery, then after the 3 months, I would be refunded the remaining money, minus the delivery charge, but would also be charged for the pick up. This would have cost about $800. So the salesperson (Keith) showed me a less expensive model - Pure Fitness brand - so I decided to buy this instead. The cost, plus delivery was $300. Two months later, the pedals on the bike are very wobbly. I phoned the store and ask about service or replacing the bike, or a refund. I was told that there was no warranty on the bike, only for parts but, to get it serviced I would need to pay for the service call and would have to first phone the service dept. I phoned the service dept. and was told that there was nothing they could do about the pedals as it was just a design of the bike. I then phoned the store back to ask for a refund (it had only been 2 months) and they said NO refunds but offered to give me a credit towards a more expensive bike - the $800 one.! The sales person I talked to (Scott) was extremely rude and insisted that he could do nothing for me. I do also think that because I was female he didn't think he had to accommodate me. I WOULD ADVISE ANYONE LOOKING FOR FITNESS EQUIPMENT TO GO ELSEWHERE. DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY.
