RandyTremjon's Reviews

Poor quality cars, staff and manager...

I was interested in one of their cars recently, but after test driving the car I was less than impressed. There was a persistent clicking noise to my left that I could not identify. Furthermore, the car was very dirty (lots of sand, dry dirt inside the engine and everywhere), and it was VERY HEAVILY SMOKED IN!!!

The price is what attracted me there, but when they slapped on their "fees" on top of taxes, it was much more than I could afford, and wasn't reasonable anymore.
They charge you $600 to certify the car (do safety).
NO OTHER DEALERSHIP CHARGES FOR SAFETY (CERTIFICATION) OR EMISSION!! IT'S ALWAYS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE. ALWAYS.
This is ridiculous - they say the $600 also includes an oil change, a mechanical inspection by their shop, and to clean the car!
Well, oil change is $40, mechanical inspection $100 maximum, safety is $40, and cleaning another $100. Total = $280 maximum.

They sell run-down, accident, used...

I actually went to their lot accidentally, (I was originally travelling to Prima Mazda to see a used 2006 Toyota Corolla, but it was in really poor shape). Hence, When I saw that a Toyota dealership is right next door, I thought ah what the heck? I'm already here aren't I?
Basically I saw a similar Corolla at Woodbridge Toyota.
From my experience with used cars, nobody can trick me!
I immediately saw that the car has obviously been in some frontal collision.
When I put the key in the ignition, and tried to start the engine, there was a delay before the car would start! There was also white exhaust smoke coming out of the tail pipe! Blown head-gasket perhaps? Who knows! Upon closer inspection and test drive, I could actually feel that the car was run-down and heavily used by the previous owner. It was noisy and the ride was uncomfortable (compared to my friend's Toyota Corolla of the similar age).
They tried to sell me that...

Their used cars are expensive and in...

I remember going there last year to look at some of their Ford SUVs, but was sorely disappointed. One $14,000 used SUV was a very heavy smoker car, that even had holes in the driver's seat from cigarettes. The car had a very low mileage, and I was told the famous story that "it was driven by an 80 year old grandma". Right. The car was obviously run down as well, just from looking at the exterior, interior you could tell that it was not the true mileage.
Go there now and you'll see 2005 Ford Focuses priced at $10,900! For that amount of money I'd rather get a Toyota or a Honda!!!

Poor quality used cars, overpriced,...

If you are looking for a good quality used car, this is not the place to go.
They don't have anything in good condition.
Their used cars are not even ready for sale, with visible body damage (broken mirrors, ripped seats, rust spots, scratches etc).
And then when they slap the admin fees and other 'extra' fees on you, the car suddenly becomes $1000 more expensive, ON TOP OF TAXES!! And then you hear their bs sales pitch about how they've been in business for 40 years, blah blah blah blah.
They'll want you to put a deposit down for a car, even before a test drive, but then there will be no test drive because the sales staff are so disorganized, they'll spend half an hour looking for the keys, and then say 'sorry we cant find the keys'.
I've been there several times throughout last summer and this year, and trust me when I say this (I do have a vast experience with used cars), there's nothing to do at North York Chevrolet...

non-existent service, never again.

Never again will I do business with these guys.
I was very close to buying a used car from them. The vehicle was only 4 years old but the under-side of the car was already very rusty (my mechanic told me he thinks it was standing somewhere for a long time, possibly in water). There were scratches and rusted stone chips, and the car was in an accident and repainted (although the salesperson assured me the CarProof was "clean".)
Needless to say, I managed to get the price somewhat down, and left a deposit on the car.
The car had 4 bald tires that they didn't want to replace, so I cancelled the deal.
The salesperson I dealt with was ridiculously unpleasant, repeating the same things over and over again, while not really listening to me, they just wanted to rip me off by not doing any work on the car prior to sale. The manager wasn't very helpful either.
You'd think a dealership of the caliber of "Acura" would...

Used cars are overpriced and in poor...

I won't go into any details, but their used cars are significantly overpriced, and in poor condition (for example, radio/CD player not working, one of the power windows not working, evident accident damage), all while having a Very High and Unjustified price.
Just be careful with them, if you want to buy a used car.
Call ahead and make sure that the car is in at least reasonable condition, and that all the options are working correctly.

Used cars are OK, but sales pressure...

I was interested in one of their cars, but wanted to talk them down on the price.
They wanted a credit card and deposit, before even considering any offers!
I can understand a deposit, when I decide to 100% buy the car, but asking for a deposit up front is too much.

High pressure and not friendly.

Hi Randy,
Even though your post was written in 2010, I thought I should respond by first apologizing for bad experience that you received while visiting the dealership.
Sisley for Honda has undergone a remarkable transformation within our Sales Dept. during the past 24 months. Once our customer selects their vehicle, we will give them a price - without obligation on their part to purchase. This includes full trade appraisals if necessary.
Our sales volume and overall customer satisfaction has increased dramatically because of this.

Regards,
Doug McDougall
