The Pearl is my new personal spa!!

I love The Pearl!!

This place is truly the jewel of Pickering. I have never had a better massage in my life.

I was surprised as to how sophisticated and elegant it is inside. Design wise, it's definitely better than anything else in Pickering and Ajax.

Mind you, it's not the same caliber as Elmwood Spa, but that's okay.

It isn't as large as I thought it would be, but I liked it that way. I don't like dealing with crowds. When I was at The Pearl, it felt like it was my own personal spa - like my own piece of heaven.

The price is great too! It's the same price I paid at my chiropractic clinic. However, the Pearl has a lot more luxury finishes, and definitely feels more exclusive.

I also like their convenient hours. I often come in late from my office downtown. The Pearl is two minutes away from the Pickering GO station, and they offer appointments until 9:00 pm at night. They're also open...

Good Food - Nice Location - Needs...

The Waterfront is a local landmark in Pickering.

It's Pickering's original waterfront restaurant. However, Port Restaurant has stolen most of its thunder over the past year - deservedly so IMHO.

The menu and the food at The Waterfront is good traditional dining fare. I wouldn't call it contemporary or modern.

However, the portions are a decent size and prepared well - albeit with a lack of flare presentation wise.

The outdoor patio is on the second level and overlooks the busy boardwalk area. It's definitely a great place to people watch on weekends.

However, this restaurant desperately needs a facelift if it wants to compete with the younger and hipper Port Restaurant just around the corner.

Great Indian Food

Mt. Everest was one of the first, if not the very first, Indian restaurants in the Pickering-Ajax area.

The restaurant is small.

The parking is tucked away in the back.

The exterior really needs to be updated. The interior is not much better.

However, the food is excellent!

The Naan is always fresh with just the perfect texture. The Butter chicken is just heavenly.

The lunch buffet is very competitively priced. You can't get much better value.

I work downtown Toronto, and have dined in several other India restaurants. Mt. Everest beats most of them hands down.

Elmwood is an Oasis in the City

At least twice a year, I'll book myself into Elmwood after work, before I commute back into the suburbs.

It is so beautiful and relaxing at Elmwood. It really is like a respite from the noise and chaos of the City.

What everyone says is true. It is definitely pricey, but sometimes you just have to indulge and pamper one's self.

If you get a massage or a body treatment, then you can get free use of the whirlpool or steam room. Hey, that's one way to stretch your dollar.

I find 95% of the staff very professional.

However, there has been occasion, when I felt that the staff looked down on me, because I wasn't a regular. Maybe they knew I wasn't rich or daddy's little princess.

Who cares. I still had a great time.

Yorkdale is the Best

I agree with the OP.

Yorkdale is definitely the mall for a girl's day out. The calibre of stores; the variety of shops; and the whole upscale feel makes Yorkdale the best mall in the Toronto area IMHO.

However, I don't shop there all the time. Only rich people can go and buy there on a regular basis.

I do like to shop around for deals, but when I feel like I want to buy something just for me, then I go to Yorkdale.

Port is the GTA's most memorable...

I absolutely love Port restaurant in Pickering!!

This lovely gem is located on picturesque Frenchman's Bay on the shores of Pickering.

There is no other comparable restaurant in the GTA, with respect to the decor, atmosphere, food and particularly its location right on the water.

The restaurant is divided into three sections - a formal dining room; a lounge; and an outdoor patio.

The patio is so beautiful in the summer. I can just sit and relax for hours and watch the sun shimmer on the waves.

The restaurant faces southwest, so there are incredible views of the sunset from the expansive windows, wherever you sit.

The food is a contemporary take on the classics and well executed. Pricing is very competitive too. I would say it's in line with Moxie's and Milestone's. As such, why would anyone want to eat a chain, when they can dine at Port?

My favourite is the Steak frites. The fries are so...
