Worst Service EVER!!
If you are going to buy a VW at Leavens, avoid dealing with Terry in their sales department. He lacks professionalism and treats every question you ask as if it was the stupidest thing he's ever heard. To say he was condescending would be an understatement. Allow me to go over some of the problems encountered on this deal (2011 Jetta Comfortline):
1. Daytime running light on passenger side not working (this was on our second visit to check the car - prior to safety check). Mentioned this to Terry and he assured me that it would be fixed as part of the safety check. On the day I went to sign the papers, I noticed the light was still inoperable (minus one star on the rating scale for lack of professionalism).
2. Cigarette burns in driver's side post. Terry said it would be fixed to match the passenger side post (which looked new). The day I signed the papers it was still in the same condition, although they did try to fix the burn marks, albeit, in a very shoddy way. Thankfully the Sales Manager stepped in and ordered a new one. Good job (plus one star for professionalism).
3. Detailing was not done as per the agreement I made with Terry. He said it would be a six hour job, but clearly they spent no more than thirty minutes as evidenced by the dirty seats, carpet, and other interior surfaces. Took it back in and the Sales Manager had them redo it (or shall I say, had them do it for real this time). That would have earned a second star, but unfortunately they didn't actually detail the entire car as we had agreed. They did clean the seats, but the carpet was not done, nor were the other interior surfaces (so, minus one star for not doing a good job and not honouring what was agreed).
4. After leaving the dealership with my new (used) Jetta, I noticed the heated seat on the driver's side was not getting warm. You guessed it...broken heating element! One more mistake to add to the list of mistakes. This should have been checked along with all the other functions before even putting it up for sale (minus one star for lack of quality - especially since it could have been fixed at no cost to the dealership since it is still under the original warranty).
5. Scheduled another appointment to have the heating element replaced. Drove thirty minutes to the dealership only to discover they did not have the correct parts - they had the seat cover, but NO heating element!!! You'd think they would check the parts when they are received to avoid this kind of problem. (minus one star for lack of professionalism).
I gave Leavens the chance to make things right, but they, as the Sales Manager admitted, made multiple mistakes. Volkswagen Canada has been made aware of all the problems I encountered and are currently investigating the matter. I have chosen to get the heated seat fixed at another VW dealership to save myself any further hassles / wasted fuel.
I will end by saying that this review is an honest account of my dealings with Leavens. I am sure others have had a more positive experience...wish I was one of them.
