Fitness Battalion, Mississauga Reviews (1)
Flavio Gracile is the owner of FB and after having a lengthy QnA with him over the phone he invited me for a tour of the facility. Even though Flavio has the build of a brick house he is gracious, personable, and friendly. The first thing you will notice when walking in is a military style obstacle course with a climbing wall as Flavio is heavily influenced by the functional training by Military Forces, specifically Navy Seals, which intrigued me in the first place. Through his suggestion I attended the various fitness classes he teaches: Strength & Conditioning, Functional Fitness, and the Olympic Lifting to get myself back in the routine of things (pun intended). Within a month I gained the confidence to perform the daily workout routines that compliment the classes. The classes are not heavily accompanied allowing Flavio to give more personal attention. His approach is different then the typical classes and incorporate a full spectrum of strength and stamina after doing a baseline routine. The classes are challenging and are meant to help you find where your threshold is that you will carry with you in your pursuits of health and fitness. Flavio is patient, very educational, encouraging, and nurturing. There is absolutely NO EGO at this gym and he treat everyone the same as he greets everyone on a first name basis. He even takes pride when he sees other's accomplishments, whether they are just a patron of the gym or a personal client.
Fitness Battalion's personal mantra is "Every Kind of Strong" meaning not only it is a physical approach to fitness but it wouldn't be complete if it wasn't building up a mental and spiritual strength as well. On the Tuesday of every month, at 7pm-8pm, he conducts a seminar that is to help teach you to break through the barriers that are holding you back in the gym and in your personal life, conquering fears, and finding inner balance. This was also another selling feature for me as I find a lot of gyms don't really develop this aspect of fitness. They even have a Kickboxing classes too with the punching/kicking bags and speed bags.
I HIGHLY recommend Fitness Battalion! If you want to get away from the mass-produced corporate gyms where everyone looks pretty on the outside but looking for a place that encourages fitness and health from within first then you will not be disappointed! In the two months that I have been there I have made a significant physical change and i'm just getting started!
