Vital Hockey Skills

My son was 8 years old playing select hockey, a friend recommended jim vital hockey, we book 10 hour private lesson, 1 on 1 with jim vital. It’s was $220 per lesson once a week , last about 50 minutes. Yes it’s expensive, but we wanted to give a try our friend highly recommended. We had good impression for the first 2 lesson, my son enjoy the lesson, jim is professional and good with kids. But unfortunately half way, about on the 4th 5th lesson, he sto to cancel our lesson without letting us know ahead of the time, we were prepared and arrived at the rink, and jim had no show up, we made a many calls , we went to the rink front office, we just couldn’t reach him. This happen at least 3-4. He usually get back to us few hours later, saying he forgot to let us know the lesson is canceled, due to he is out of town. Ok jim, but at least let us know ahead of the time, we though Jim would reschedule our lesson, but he never did. And he give no refund, 4 lesson that we missed , I ask this is not our fault that you were out of town, at least do a make up lesson or refund the money, but he totally ignore our messages, so disappointed with Jim vital. Dear parent Don’t take with Jim vital, he may be good at teaching hockey, but he is a terrible human being. Will never recommend to anyone to go though the same thing like us. My son has been attending hockey camps and training sessions with Jim Vitale and Vital Hockey Skills for years he likes his attention to detail and the way drills are demonstrated and corrected .After returning from a 1 year absence of not playing hockey Jim Vitale and Vital Hockey was able to work with his edging ,shooting ,speed and stamina were he was able to compete at the AAA level once again .Thanks Vital Hockey

Jim focuses on the most important part of skating/puck-handling instruction: repetition of the fundamentals. He emphasizes proper technique with edge work, and encourages players too work outside of their 'comfort zone' with and without the puck (falling or losing the puck is ok). This creates a very productive learning environment for players of all levels. Young skaters are able to come to Jim and develop alongside elite players, while the latter come to perfect areas of their skating and puck-handling that are not emphasized enough at club level.

Jim is able to demonstrate all of his drills, which is a great learning aid. Overall, Vital Hockey sessions are a great place to perfect skills in a positive and competitive environment.

I am a former competitive figure skater, who has been involved in the development of 6- 13 year old figure skaters and power skaters. The parents of the kids I taught that also played hockey, would frequently tell me how much the skating lessons greatly improved their children’s game. Out of curiosity I wanted to observe the skating skills that were taught to my friend’s son at Jim’s hockey school. I was quite impressed by the quality of coaching. It was evident that the coaches had educated themselves on not only hockey skating, but also on the fundamental skating techniques of other skating sports and applied it to the hockey drills being run at the camp. The students demonstrated high quality and control over their edge work, as well power and explosiveness in their strides. I would definitely recommend Jim’s hockey school.

My son is entering his Bantam year of hockey this coming fall. We wanted to concentrate on his hockey skills including edging, stride, strength, balance and agility. Jim at Vital Hockey Skills has helped enormously. He offers unique drills every week, makes it interesting and challenging at the same time, and fun too. Despite the hard work he expects every week, my son looks forward to it every single Monday night. Wish Monday nights could continue all summer long.

Someone gave me advice early on with my son for ice hockey as he began his journey in house league at 6/7. Outside of team practice take him for additional "skating". I was introduced to Jim Vitale of Vital Hockey Skills not long after that and then things changed for the better. We started semi-private lessons with Jim learning edge work and other repetitive drills that were not being done at regular practices. The following season we entered into REP hockey after some of Jim's hockey camps and more direct lessons and it's been all uphill from there. I've tried a few others but honestly Vital hockey's teaching method and repetition of true edge work has worked best for my son as he enters into Pee-Wee this year we look forward to sticking with what works. Highly Recommended.
