The SmartShape surgeon is an amazing person. He takes the time to talk to you, listen to your concerns and even phoned me 3 times. My nurse Rhonda at the clinic went above and beyond with care and info. All of the staff at SmartShape have been wonderful. Very professional, knowledgeable and caring about their patients. I look forward to continuing my weight loss journey with you all.

I've been wanting to write for a while but honestly, couldn't find the words. I am down 125 pounds since my surgery on August 11, 2015. I feel wonderful. I'm a better mom and wife and just a happier person. My body no longer aches and I no longer feel like I'm living in someone else's body. I am much more active and am preparing to run my first 5K this weekend with a 10k to follow in the fall.

I cannot thank the whole team enough for this new life! The work you guys do is really life changing and I hope that everyone knows how much you have improved my life. I've never had better care in my life than the care I received with you. Your surgeon is by far one of the best, most caring doctors I've ever had and I cannot thank him enough.

It is apparent that the many professionals work together as a team. I very much appreciated the help from Kim as I waded through websites and books trying to decide what to do. Their lead surgeon was very forthright in my initial meeting and was easily able to address my concerns. I felt accepted as a patient and a person. I did not feel rushed. Everyone at I have met or spoken to so far has been grand. I appreciated the follow calls from the nurses and the dietician here on Day 3. Thanks to everyone.

Lap Band surgery was not a choice for me in British Columbia. I am six years beyond the upper age limit. But I'm a determined old lady and from the moment the sergeon said that he could do the surgery in Ontario, I was ready to walk there if necessary. I'm glad I didn't have to walk and I'm very glad I had the surgery. All the staff have been wonderful, patient, supportive and prompt. The pre-surgery portion of the program is the hardest part by far. The surgery itself uncomplicated and recovery very quick. I've had no issues with heartburn, vomiting or food intolerance of any kind. Six months and three days from surgery, I have lost 79 lbs and I'm thrilled and far, far healthier. Thanks, everyone for your part in this amazing journey.

I have been a patient here for almost nine years, and each and every appointment has been timely, pleasant and helpful. I travel a fair distance to go to this clinic, and only once, when an appointment got screwed up( my own fault!)..was there the tiniest bit of a wait. And even then, when the whole office staff was heading to a conference one of the nurses, Tina, stayed behind to help. She is an amazing, cheerful, compassionate woman and a credit to the clinic. All of the nurses, Tammy, Tina, all of them are consummate professionals but they always seem to have a few extra minutes to be "human" as well!

I can't tell you enough how happy I am about my surgery and the results.
The staff is absolutely wonderful. That isn't even a good enough word to describe them all!!!
I've built a relationship with TINA and I couldn't be happier. She is inspiring ...supportive and just all round GREAT!!

I began the journey for weight loss surgery with Smart Shape in February of 2015. Having to plan a surgery that was several provinces away, was to say the least, intimidating and uterly terrifying to think of. From the moment I received my phone call consultation from My Surgeon, I knew that I was on the right path. There is nothing more important than having confidence in the very person who would have your life in their hands and I felt completely confident in My Surgeon through our several conversation over the phone. He was not only clear and direct in his explanations of options for me, but confident in giving me enough of the information I needed to come to the conclusion that gastric sleeve surgery was my best option. And to be clear, I researched other programs for weight loss surgery before making me final decision to travel across Canada to Smart Shape in Toronto. I even tried to go through a free program in my province through its health Authority, and realized that I just wasn't going to put my life in the hands of a program where the initial people promoting it were uninterested in the wellbeing of those they would be helping. Being in the medical field myself in nursing, I was able to ask more specific questions than the general public and not once did I ever feel resistance on My Surgeon's end to answer them. And believe me, I was persistent in finding all the answers I needed to make my final decision. As a mother of 2 young children and in my late 30's, failure was not an option for me. I knew that if I didn't have this surgery, my life would not only be filled with more medical illness, injury, and additional comorbidities, but I may never see my beautiful daughters grow up. I flew to Toronto and met My Surgeon officially in person the day of my surgery may 25th. The surgical team including the most amazing nurses at the Don Mills Surgical Center guided me through pre op and post op with genuine concern and faith in me. It has been 5 months since my surgery and as of today Oct 22nd, I have lost 99 lbs in total. 99 lbs and so many years added to my life that I get to spend with my children and husband. 99 lbs and no regrets. No regret of reaching out to Smart Shape, no regrets of choosing Smart Shape and the gastric sleeve surgery. To date, this has been the most important and best decision I have made in my life thus far. I will forever be greatful for the opportunity to restart my life path towards a healthier and brighter future. It is not an easy road, but the road worth taking never is.
Just to be perfectly clear...This is not a ploy to get people to choose Smart Shape, I am not getting anything out of this review but the satisfaction of knowing that maybe I could convince one needing person to ask the hard questions and start their own journey towards the endless possibilities that come with prolonging your life. Think about it. Choose life.

Forever greatful

I had a great experience at on the day of my operation. Everyone at the clinic goes beyond to make the patient feel special and to answer any questions. The nurses there are very personable and give great care!!! The added benefit of talking to the anesthetist and the surgeon just prior to surgery is very helpful and their upbeat personalities made me feel at ease.

Just want to add that Kim Midwinter is amazing!!! She is not only helpful, funny, knowledgeable, but she is kindhearted and that is rare in nursing today unfortunately. She has always made herself available either by email or phone for any questions I might have.

My only negative comment might be that more afercare info and management from a person rather than just the booklets and paperwork might have been nice. I only received 1 phone message from the physician and never did get to speak to him in person after the surgery, perhaps because the nurses are so good at handling questions, I'm not sure. I am currently 2 weeks post op and have not heard from anyone since the weekend of my surgery. (Other than an email to fill this review out). Another call reinforcing the post op care and expected hurdles might have been nice.

Over all I am extremely happy with SmartShape!! I feel if I do contact anyone with questions they would be happy to answer them!

I must say that I have had the most wonderful experience right from my very first visit to my last. The support and kindness and understanding is just over the top. Special thank you to Clarissa Aznar who always was there with encouragement and help whenever I needed it.
This was and still is the best decision I've ever made.
