dental insurance worthless
I used my school dental insurance but was required to pay extra. only the bottom half of teeth set got cleaned. had to pay extra for the top half so declined to get it done. I don't see the point of using school insurance on it just to get that result. the dentist was really nice and polite its just i can't afford the price to pay extra

Don't Hold Your Breath For A Reply
I have been a patient at this location for almost three years and have only praise for my (female) dentist. However, when it comes to management I think there is a lot to be desired. It irks the hell out of me when the manager does not respond to the patient's queries. I had issues with the previous manager who would not return my phone calls and when I finally cornered her she was rude and made me feel she is doing ME a favour.
That manager is now gone and replaced by a new one with whom I spoke face-to-face last week (March 2016) and found her friendly and helpful. However, I had a further question about Dawson's EMERGENCY SERVICE and left two messages and an e-mail and did not hear back until I reached her by accident and let her know I do not consider this good customer service.

I called Dawson dental because I required an implant for a front tooth an injury for years earlier that I had been dealing with by using a flipper. I went for the free consultation. At that time I was told that the implant was not a viable choice for me as my bone had reseeded. So I got a quote of $650.00 for a flipper with all the necessary molds. I then asked if the tooth on my current flipper could be used. They said yes but could not calculate at that time the difference in price. My current flipper had a tooth on it slightly larger then my natural tooth to eliminate a small gap in my front teeth. I was told they would be unable to make the new flipper tooth larger then what my natural tooth would be. Confused I asked why they could do this years ago when I got my first flipper but not now with today's technology? That's when it was discussed using the tooth from the first flipper. So I go in for my fitting and was beyond appalled. My tooth from the original flipper was shaved down on the top of the tooth with pink wax put on it, it was explained that this was to aluminate "gums". It was the stupidest thing I had ever seen. From there I was told after they have now made this tooth un-usable by another dentist it was only taking off $20.00 from the original estimate. On top of everything the mold didn't even fit. I was told that it was "too bad" this is what I was paying for. When asked what they were doing, why this was taking over a week, why the soft mold was not prepared properly, why they had altered and ultimately damaged the tooth from my first flipper, I was told "well we aren't a denture clinic". I was floored at this point because your website advertises this very differently. It is indicated under the dental service section that they do complete dentures, denture implants etc. Not to mention I had the consultation, I spoke with the dentist, I was told this is what they do, that I was in good hands. What a complete joke. They are dishonest and a big scam. I was able to contact a denture clinic at Kennedy/Eglinton the same day I left the office, get an appointment for the next day. They charged me $275.00 for the complete flipper with the new tooth (slightly larger then my natural tooth as requested) and I received not the soft mold but the completed flipper by end of the same day as the visit. SHOCKING.

Rude and dishonest
I went to dawson dental to have a mouthguard made. I made sure to get the total price before the mouthguard was made. After the procedure was completed, I paid the agreed upon amount. I received my mouth guard a month later. It took about twice as long to arrive than the 2 weeks that I was told. The transaction was complete; I received a service and product, and I paid the total sum. 3.5 months later, I get an invoice in the mail, for 35% of the amount I had originally paid. I have never had any services done at dawson dental, other than this mouthguard. I called and spoke with Essie, who describes herself as a manager. She tells me that the original price was just an estimate (haha how convenient that this is the first time i have heard that), and that I would be required to pay 35% more than the original cost, because the product costs more than they had anticipated. I thought this was some kind of joke, but she was quite serious. The transaction was already completed, how can they come back and ask for more money 3.5 months later? If I was told of the hidden fees beforehand, I would have purchased my mouthguard elsewhere, as the 35% mark up meant that the product was no longer at a competitive price. Essie tells me that I am unreasonable, and that I should just pay the money. She tried to guilt me by reminding me that the cost would now have to come out of Dr. Moss' pocket, and how little dentists made because they have debt from dental school. I stuck firm to my principals: I will not pay for your error. We had agreed upon a price, you cannot come back later and ask for more. Essie ends the phone call by telling me that patients like me are not welcome at Dawson Dental. "like me" ? did she mean educated, fair, and noncompliant with bullying?​I am a smart consumer. If you are one as well, you should never go to Dawnson Dental
