I wanted a deadbolt installed to a metal door. The person on the phone couldn't give me a direct quote, but said that it would be $29 for service and $25 for the lock. The person who came charged me the following:
$30 for Service
$150 for a max tech dead bolt (when questioned why the person on the phone quoted differently, he claimed it was b/c this was a different lock)
$110 for fresh installation (creating the holes)
$35 for installing the lock
and then talked me into an additional $25 tip.
A total of $350, which he wanted to be paid in cash
I later found out the lock was only worth about $6 and $25 was the proper price range. I don't know much about this trade, and I'm sure not many people do. Hopefully this review will give insight on how tricky companies like this can be. All in all, I feel I was swindled and I hope you're not as naive as me.
