Tried to place an order for a Christmas gift basket for my in-laws and the order was said not to go through over and over again. I then received a Paypal notification that I had indeed been charged. So, hoping I could spend some time on hold but eventually get through tried both chat, email, and phone customer service to no avail for over an hour. Chat kept saying I was being connected and then kicking me back out into the cue, the phone system stopped playing the hold music and I sat in dead silence after what sounded like it transferred for more than 20 minutes, and did not receive an email back until days later. At that point (days later after I had spent $150 on an additional basket from another company, the same as I spent through the gift group) I suddenly received a confirmation of my order email and a response from the customer service manager, Oscar, stating that it had gone through and it would be shipping soon... What?! I responded stating I would like the order cancelled and the money refunded given I had to move forward with another gift. Oscar responded again saying it would be hard to cancel given it was processing? Um... It clearly told me it didn't process and I needed to move forward with another gift, so now I've spent $300+ on two similar items from different companies because yours doesn't work right?
Once I responded stating I totally understood that it may be difficult to do, but I could not afford to spend that much in the middle of a pandemic he STOPPED RESPONDING. I have now sent two additional emails to no avail.
Do not order here.

I ordered on 12/20 for 12/23 guaranteed delivery. You still haven’t even sent it yet by the UPS tracking. It is late and ruined. I can’t get a refund. No delivery and no refund. This is a scam and I will spend every last effort I have to try to help prevent others from falling prey to you

DO NOT ORDER FROM HAZELTONS! I paid $22 for shipping and the chocolate dipped strawberries were inedible upon arrival. They will only refund 1/2 the purchase price because I should have read the fine print and ordered same day shipping...Right. What was $22 for??!

I ordered a cake for Father's Day. It arrived late, stale and the frosting melted. It was just placed in a box with no cake plate and delivered by two young girls with no identification. I have tried to contact you but to no avail. I would like a refund.

DON'T BUY FROM HAZELTONS.CA unless you're happy with possibly not getting what you ordered and not being able to do anything about it!

I ordered a box of 4 different Brix dark chocolates (that go nicely with wine) for a 14th anniversary gift. They delivered 2 boxes of another brand, including one of milk chocolate, which doesn't go well with wine.

They say they won't do anything to fix the problem because I agreed to their "Substitution Policy" that allows them to substitute items that can be ordered on their websites but they don't actually have in stock. And I have no recourse. This is classic BAIT AND SWITCH!

Hazelton's by the Gift Group has the absolute worst customer service ever. I ordered a gift basket for a recently married couple - the husband is deploying to Iraq to serve our country, so it was imperative that the gift be delivered by a specific date. While placing the order I was prompted to enter my delivery preference and I also paid for expedited shipping, however once I received my email confirmation it was clear the gift would not be delivered in time. I immediately called the company, however the 1-800 number advertised on both their website and the order confirmation email was not in service. Next I live chatted a customer service agent (they advertise 24/7 assistance) and was told that she was the only person working due to it being a Saturday and did not have authority to cancel or refund my order. She stated I should call Monday morning at 9am EST. I sent emails over the weekend as well - both Saturday and Sunday - only to be met by additional unhelpful responses refusing to cancel the order by placing blame on me as the customer and shipping providers. I called at 9:00am on the dot Monday morning, and received a voicemail stating all lines were full, so I requested a call back. By 9:45am I had yet to receive a call back, so I called again, and received the same response. I then live chatted AGAIN, only to be told no one could help me. This is ridiculous. I've been trying since I placed the order to cancel it, and continue to try to get in touch with a manager 2 days later. By 2:00pm EST I still had not received a call back, so I called a final time. The agent I spoke with flat out REFUSED to escalate my case to a manager after I made numerous pleas. Why deny a customer an opportunity to speak to someone in charge? This is the absolute worst customer service I have ever received in my entire life. The company refuses to cancel the order, to allow me to speak to a manager, or to let me pay additional money for further expedited shipping.

DO NOT ORDER FROM HAZELTON'S GIFTS. Go to Harry & David's instead. Hazelton does not care about your customer experience or satisfaction. They overpromise and underdeliver, then refuse to provide alternative solutions.

I made a purchase with this scammy rip off company. I ordered to custom gift basket for my sister's birthday and needless to say... the only thing in the basket that wasn't damaged or was actually in it was the cheap champagne. My cake, balloon and chocolate strawberries we're not included, flowers were ruined, the stuffed animal was a flamingo and not the birthday bear, and some cheap cocoa that was ruined as well. I paid quite a bit for my sister to have a great birthday especially during this pandemic and they insult me and her with this crappy gift basket. I'm calling tomorrow and if I don't receive a full refund, I'm contacting legal representation, BBB and every platform I can find on social media to slam these rip off artist.

I ordered just over $3000 in baskets in Dec, 2020 and they have yet o be delivered. No call backs, no emails, nothing! I'm beyond a review.. these guys have been reported to the government agency today. They said that all were shipped and delivered, however none of my clients received them. Never again! STAY AWAY FROM THESE GUYS!

What a rip off!!!
I ordered a gift basket for a client to be delivered by Christmas, even paid extra for the delivery, and it was set to be delivered on January 26th. I called after Christmas knowing that the package was not delivered to my clients and they never once returned my call or email about the parcel. Today I receive an email from "Sam" basically stating that there is no refunds.
Save your time, money, and just order from anyone else. This company is incompetent....

Worst company I have ever dealt with. They don't respond to phone calls nor emails. Finally got a response stating they will not refund my money even though my order is now 20 days late. They have 89 complaints with the Better Business Bureau and 81 with no reponse. They were profiled on CBC as a company with serious delivery, product quality and customer service issues. ( cbc.ca/news/canada/toron…) I have experienced all of the above. Steer clear of this group. They are a useless middle man. Deal directly with your local shop.

Customer Service is NONEXISTENT! I placed an order for a holiday fruitcake and a few small bags of dried fruit arrived.  I have tried for over two weeks to correct but it is impossible to reach anyone by phone and the 'live chat' on the website is neither live nor a chat (you basically submit an email that falls into an abyss).  Contacting Customer Service via e-mail address on their website is no better - it either gets no response or an auto-generated message that has nothing to do with the issue or attempts to resolve the problem.  I'm usually patient and sympathetic but using the holidays and COVID as an excuse is no longer acceptable.  I just wanted the fruitcake shipped.  Now I need to dispute it via the credit card company.  They've lost my business forever.

Purchased a gift to be delivered on a certain day and it didn't show. I ordered this product 11 days be fore it was to arrive to the recipient. I've tried contacting you in everyday imaginable with no response. my suggestions to you are as follows try keeping you promises. A gift for a Birthday, Anniversary or an event is not worth much if it doesn't show up or its days late! Answer your Phone, respond to emails and if you offer live chat respond in real time.

Warning!! Do not order from this Company! I did not receive proof of payment or email confirmation and my order was never delivered - the payment was charged to my credit card. I was not able to connect with anyone, no response. This company uses the name Hazelton's and Montreal Gift Baskets - The Gift Group.

Unfortunately I have to agree with the negative reviews about Hazeltons' customer service. To be fair, we ordered two gifts last year. Everything seemed fine and family members were happy. We did the same again this year (gifts are on the way -- we'll find out if they're as good soon), but we had a bad experience ordering a Christmas tree for ourselves this year. What we got instead was some sort of house plant with yellow foliage. Hazelton's customer service gave us their policy spiel about how they sometimes have to substitute out-of-stock items with a same-value item. They did this without communicating with us. There was no apology, no option to reimburse us for the tree, and no offer to send us something else. Instead they sent us a sad-looking plant that looks nothing like a Christmas tree.

Maybe they can get away with that when they ship gifts direct to someone else (family, friends, etc), but after this experience of customer service, we're not ordering from Hazeltons again. They don't care! They just take your money for something you never ordered and then hide behind their policies. Honestly, they should have sent us a cactus instead of a droopy house plant. At least I can hang Christmas ornaments on a cactus.

BEWARE!!! Save yourself the headache of ordering from this company! They're using the pandemic as an excuse not to refund orders! I placed an order November 25th to be delivered NEXT DAY and 13 days later it's still not been delivered and has been "delayed" for at least a week. I have requested a refund multiple times! They say no ....their excuse? They recently updated their policies and because of COVID-19 "customers are not entitled to refunds or cancellations " Basically "Tough luck" if it it's late or lost because of COVID-19. I'm sorry I'm calling BS, every other company out there has sorted out their shipping issues besides the fact that this is the function of the company itself! They do absolutely NOTHING to resolve the issue.Ridiculous , unacceptable and super shady to scam people by taking advantage of a pandemic

I hope this business is closed soon they are crooks. I ordered a gift basket for my wife's birthday. She is away visiting her sister in Dallas. When I searched for local delivery gifts Hazelton's came up. I liked the customizable options, so I ordered a basket with a cake, some cheese, vodka, and other things she likes. A day later I received notification that the order had shipped from CT and would take 4 days! with perishable items!

I got a text from my wife with the attached photo of the cake that was extremely poor quality and smooshed. I called her and apologized. She said it arrived in a packing box with the items thrown in. did not include my card or the special box I had ordered, the vodka leaked and she had to throw everything away.

I notified Hazelton's and they asked for photos of the items. I sent the photo of the cake and told them everything was thrown out and that I wanted a refund. They offered to send another cake. I was furious so I called them. They said that their terms of service stated that items sent beyond on day shipping required expedited shipping (i think that cost a couple of hundred dollars). There was absolutely no way of knowing this. Their website does not have their address anywhere, not even in the contact section. They refuse to refund my purchase. I spent a lot of money thinking my wife would be happy with the customized items. instead, she is disappointed and I am furious.

This company is money-grubbing trash. they care nothing about their services. They are horrible no good thieves.

My New York Spirits gift basket was beautiful and arrived on time. Substitutions were suitable including brand of upgraded whiskey. Recipient was thrilled. It was a thank you gift to my spouse for looking after me through broken hip so I saw the basket and knew what I had ordered. I was completely satisfied. This basket contains no perishable goods.

I have never been so disappointed in an online service than I was with my Hazeltons order. I specifically ordered a Mother’s Day gift since I was able to chose which date it would be delivered. Living more than 5000km away from my mom and not being able to see her this year due to the terrible situation we are all going through, I wanted to send her something special she could enjoy at home. The gift was supposed to be chocolate covered strawberries in the form of a bouquet with a cute coffee mug, a wheel of Camembert cheese and cutting board and a bottle of champagne and flute. The order came close to 100$, but I thought it was worth it considering the photos and lavish description of the products on Hazeltons website. Firstly, the order arrived 3 days early. The damaged box was simply left outside my moms door without notifying her of its arrival, nor putting any thought into the security of the item OR the fact that the outside temperature was not adequate for perishable products to be left out in. When she opened the box, it was clearly tossed around with little care; the bottle of champagne was cracked and the edible bouquet broken. The wheel of Camembert cheese was missing and when she finally decided to try the chocolate covered strawberries, there were no strawberries inside. The bouquet looked nothing like the photo, but looked rather like cheap cake pops stuck into styrofoam which was super glued into the coffee mug (and can now never be used). While this experience was bad, the worst was yet to come. When I wrote to their customer service team to let them know I was not satisfied with my order, they questioned the truth in what I was saying and asked for photos of what was missing and damaged... through again another explanation of the situation they rudely told me that I agreed to their terms and conditions when I purchased the gift which advised against sending perishable items further than a two day trip and that they replaced the strawberries due to this so they wouldn’t perish. They never contacted me to ask about this substitution. Then they continued to tell me they could only refund me for the missing cheese and that in their “years of experience” customers prefer to have their orders early so they just ASSUMED again, without contacting me, that I wanted the same. I had to then chase after them for four months! Following up multiple times by email and by phone to remind them of my refund which they never made. It is September and I have still not received a refund after their manager Quinton advised I would in writing via email back in May. I do not recommend ordering from Hazeltons and wasting money on subpar gifts which are falsely advertised on their website.

An absolute joke of a “company”. Why are they still allowed to be in operation??? I ordered a gift for Mother’s Day and the gift basket arrive the next WEEK! What sense does that make??? They refused to refund my money and they also sent the wrong fruits!!! I orders oranges and they sent grapes. I orders a basket with a kettle and it was NOT in the basket!!!! If I could give them -5 stars I would! Stay away from this company at ALL costs!!!!

I ordered a $114 same day gift. I checked online on progress and was told it would be 3 days. When I complained they smugly told me they didn't care.
