Poor experience with Trillium.
My wife and I hired Trillium to move our belongings from a storage unit in Fredericton to our new home in Calgary. We chose them from a large pool of big and small movers that all had good and bad reviews. Overall our experience was poor, but from what I've learned since sharing experiences with many people who have hired many different movers, it was a typical moving experience. Maybe the whole industry is broken. Maybe the rates are too low to be able to provide consistently good service.

We had a few of damaged items, a lost lawnmower, and lots and lots of scuffs and nicks and scratches. The damaged items were all packed by the movers, and after watching how a move goes I'm not surprised that so many items got banged up in the process.

My estimated and actual weights were very different (actual was almost double) but since the estimate was done using industry standards for our goods I wasn't surprised that there was a difference. You pay for what the load actually weighs, so there really isn't much use in estimates, only the price/lb and the conditions of the move are important when comparing movers.

I requested a weigh scale ticket to show the tare and load weights and justify the final invoice, and what I was given was a note on Trillium letterhead stating that the load was weighed at their own scale in Toronto and stated the net weight. That wasn't going to fly with my company (who were paying for my move) so I then requested (in fact, argued for) a re-weigh at a public certified scale. It's important to note that using public certified scales is required in the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario Regulation 643/05 (Section 18.1) and the other provincial Regs I looked at as well.

Of course normally there's no way to know what's in the truck when the weights are taken, but that's another story... Anyway, I was surprised to see that there was a significant difference between Trillium's own scale and the truck stop scale. Trillium's weight was much higher (>1200 lbs).

I was provided a refund for the difference in weight as well as the re-scaling fee (the truck stop charged $200, which I payed for out of pocket) without hesitation, but also without an explanation.
Two small but not insignificant good parts of the whole experience: communication was professional and timely, and delivery was only a little late.

I also learned a funny thing: the movers (any movers) have little motivation other than online reviews to provide good service: if you're insured, then the insurance company will pay for damages; if you're not insured, then nobody pays for damages. The moving company is only responsible for $0.60/lb whether we're talking a box of old paperbacks or a big screen TV.

Next time - as much as it will be difficult - we'll get a UHaul and drive our own stuff across the country.

Moved to Saint Laurent, QC
Great experience with Trillium. We moved many times and I am familiar with the process and what to expect. Searched around not only for the best price but also for best customer service. I was happy that we didnt have to deal with 10 different people. I was in contact with the same person from the quote to the final delivery set up. That made things so much easier. Kate was great to deal with.
The crew was good at pick up in Edmonton. Took the time to protect everything which in turn helped everything arrive in order at delivery.
The quote was a smooth process and my work was paying so the moving company was good about dealing with the payment part of it. Great to get back to us which was a bonus.
All in all I think we would move with them again.

Move to Florida
As a person who is on the go all the time, I really dont have time to go online and write reviews. However, being that Chloe was so wonderful to deal with during this stressful move, I promised the company that I would post something following my delivery.

I would like to report that I was very happy with the service. We relocated our office and small family condo from Quebed Saint Laurent area to Florida. We are finally retiring.

Through no fault of the company there were some delays with closing the new home here and we had no choice but to arrange storage at the last minute. The company was kind enough to place the goods in storage, locate the storage facility and pay for it. Once we were able to have access to our home, they re-arrange delivery and everything went as scheduled.

I was extremely impressed with the response times through the company and Chloe was amazing to deal with. We had made changes to our reservation every other day almost and through all of this she was still great to deal with.

We have another part of our office to move and Trillium Moving has already started the packing job on that one. Excellent Service!

Move from Windsor to Ottawa
In November I used Trillium Moving for my move from Chatham, ON to Ottawa, ON.
I didn’t have that much to move and was looking for a good price, but wanted to make sure that I was getting what I paid for. Many of my friends have made the same move, and 2 different friends referred me to Trillium.
I called in and spoke with Kate, she walked me through the process, gave me a quote and got everything set up. Once the move was booked she sent me my guarantee email and off we went. The guys who came to my house were incredibily nice in Windsor, they arrived bright and early in the morning as requested so I could leave for my drive to Ottawa before dark.
When I arrived in Ottawa I was lucky enough to have another great pair of movers, they brought everything upstairs for me and even set up my bed so I didn’t have to struggle with it on my own.
I will happily recommend them to anyone and when they asked me to post a review of my experinece I was happy to do !

Trillium Moving Review
My family and I moved from Ingersoll, ON to Laval, QC area. We were happy with the service. The crew was amazing on both sides.
We had terrible weather on the pick up date (Nov 7) but the crew never complained once. There was tons of snow and the cold weather temperatures didnt help, but they never once complained. We requested for the same crew to appear at the delivery part but it wasnt promised - we understood.
We were pleasantly suprised when we opened our door and the crew that we requested appeared. We were happy becuase they knew our stuff and were very helpful. Didnt rush the delivery and took the time to place everything where it needed to go.
The storage in between the pick up and delivery was also included as a part of the quote/price and this was a great bonus. We felt very comfortable with the crew in our home and this was a great experience. They are very recommended by our family!

Move to Toronto
Last weekend I completed my move with Trillium.
In august I made the appointment for my stuff to be picked up in Regina, everything went good, the men were very nice and helpful
I had to keep my stuff with them for longer than I thought, Kate was very good and helped me a lot to make the plans for the storage.
Last weekend they delivered my stuff to my new condo in Toronto.
The delivery men were polite and very quick, they helped me put my bed up and they were very clean.
I am really happy I picked Trilium, everyone was great to work with and I would use them again.

Amazing Service!!!
Sincerely would like to thank Lisa and especially Kate for her wonderful work and warm approach. They have treated us with the most care and the follow up after was amazing.

We took their offer after an in-home estimate (gentlemen's name I just cant remember). Everything went as planned. Although the truck did arrive about 40 mins late that was the only downfall to the entire move.

We were surprised when we received a call from the manager following up on the move as usually that doesn't happen. As soon as the company takes your payment, you don't hear from them. However, Trillium Moving took the time to listen to us and was very quick to resolve any concerns that we had.

Amazing Service and Great to deal with on a personal level.

Our Long Distance Relocation
We wanted to take the time to post a good review for Trillium Moving and Storage. They have been very helpful through the moving process and very pleasant to deal with.
We went with the full packing service and were very happy with the result. Many fragile items were packed and delivered in good condition. We had one fragile cabinet that was damaged, but Trillium was very helpful in the claim process and we now have our cabinet back in order. We were happy with the initial follow up and the kindness of these folks. During the claim process we were happy with the manager Lisa who followed up on the estimates and suggested good providers in the Vancouver area who could help with the repair.

After the initial shock of the damage, and the kind response from the team, it was like it never happened. Next time we will be choosing Trillium Moving and Storage for our move.

Savings on My move
Great service from Trillium Moving. I am used to moving with the big guys and paying almost $1 per pound, but this time decided to use a smaller company. Very good results.
Great service and the office staff is very pleasant.
The best thing is the savings that we had with this move. I saved more then 50% and the service was the same. Even better actually as I was able to get more attention from this company because they are smaller and family run.

Move from Calgary to Ottawa
The best part of the move was the service provided by Kate Roberts ,the rest of the move was sub standard. The movers in Calgary arrived and did not have enough blankets to cover our furniture as they had to save some for the next pickup. They used bubble wrap on some furniture, table cloth on the dinning
room table and assured us it would be rewrapped in the warehouse. I phoned Head Office to complain (nothing happened). The movers in Ottawa were a little better but paid no attention to boxes marked FRAGILE .Boxes were crushed and laid up side down. There was lots of damaged goods, lamps, pictures
dinning room set and the loss of my car cover in a special bag
for which I got $100.
I was told this move would be different ,it was not, the movers
said many movers were part-time and really did not care about what they were moving. Seems to us every body was more interested
in the $$$ than the service provided. Won't use again!

Great Experience!
Trillium Moving assisted me with moving my son to Vancouver for university. They were very helpful from beginning to end and were always quick to answer my questions. We didn’t move too much stuff, and we didn’t want to spend too much because we will move him home to Toronto at the end of the year, but we always wanted to make sure he got all of his stuff in one piece. Trillium had very reasonable rates and the people in the office were all very friendly and available to us. I will absolutely use them to move him home and would recommend them highly.

Many Thanks
We just relocated with Trillium Moving across the country and I wanted to say how wonderful the service was. I know that many people will not take the time to say a simple thank you, but I definetly felt like the company went above and beyond our expectations. I worked for the military and so did my husband for many years but this was our first move where we paid and arranged everything (and i hope the last one). We researched the company, and although they came out good, the reason we chose them was due to the exceptional service Kate has provided us with. Always responded to many of our inquiries and emails and always returned our calls within the same day.

I was impressed with the pick up crew and the delivery crew was just as great. They were professional, well dressed, and most of all they cared.

I would like to say that I am very pleased with the service and the price was very reasonable for our huge move.

I will post this everywhere I can to express my thanks!

Moved from BC to Ontario
I would not recommend using this company. Our shipment was recently moved from Vancouver Island, BC to Waterloo, ON. Many items were broken and damaged, and many expensive items were lost. We are currently experiencing very slow and poor customer service from Trillium staff, and they do not seem bothered at all by the fact that they damaged/broke our things and have completely lost many large and important items. Trillium is turning out to be the most unprofessional company I have ever worked with. Things to be aware of:

Trillium does not have a proper inventory and tracking system in place. Inventory is unprofessionally done with paper and pencil on the spot by the movers, and things are not itemized nor tracked using any sort of electronic system. And when the items are unloaded, the movers do not verify the items against the original hand-written inventory list. Thus, there is no way to know if anything has been lost at the moment the movers arrive to charge you and then unload your items. You are really taking a chance by paying them first. It will only be after that fact that you will discover any lost or broken items. At that point, it will be too late as you will have already paid them. We also had to request Trillium to re-scale our shipment and it turned out that the re-scaled weight was actually lower than what they first said it was. This saved us from over-paying by a few hundered dollars.

Trillium broke and/or damaged over a dozen items, including broken coffee cups and picture frames, holes in leather office chairs and couches, legs broken off of living room end tables, dents and scuffs in a hardwood kitchen table, and more. Many items, such as chairs and a piano stool, have sticky tape residue on them from careless handling and packing by Trillium. One of our chairs was also used a footstool by the movers - it was delivered to us completely covered in dirty foot prints!

As for lost items, Trillium successfully lost a long list of our items, some very expensive and difficult to replace. Items lost: 32" flat screen television, 22" flat screen computer monitor, SportRack bike rack for 4 bikes, 2 ottomans, a book shelf, two boxes full of books and fancy serving platters, and all the support slats and hardware for our expensive king size bed set. How they could just lose so many items is beyond me. The replacement cost for these will be close to $2000. And, unfortunately, one of the serving platters that was lost was a very special wedding gift that is irreplaceable.

I will post again later as we work at resolving the above problems.

After 30 days of trying to get somewhere with Trillium staff, nothing whatsoever has been done, and I never hear from them unless I contact them. I did, however, receive a warning from them after I posted my first review. An email from Lisa stated:

"Please hold off these reviews and we can hopefully find a good resolution. If you are not able to hold on, then please keep in mind that there will be very little room for me to move in this case"

I can only interpret that one way, and that is, don't say anything bad about us online or we won't look for your stuff or compensate you for your losses. So, it is almost certain at this point that our many missing items will never be found, and that we will not be properly compensated for our losses and damages. If the owners of Trillium can somehow find it in themselves to be honourable and compensate me for my losses and damages which amount to well over $2000 (not to mention my time and inconveniences) I will update this post. It is all in their hands now.

Moving to Toronto, ON
I had my stuff moved from Vancouver, BC to Toronto, ON a few weeks ago by Trillium Moving.
My moving planner was Kate, she was wonderful to deal with and was always easier to get in touch with. She answered my questions and helped me make this a good move.
The men were nice and polite at Vancouver and Toronto. I had no damage to my furniture or boxes which was great.
I would recommend them to anyone looking to move, and will use the service again when I move to Edmonton next year.
They told me if I write reviews they will donate to charity

My Move to Montreal-Est
In December 2012 I made a move with Trillium Moving.
Chloe was my sales representative and asked me if I wouldn’t mind writing a review about the experience that I had with my move.
Everything was great and I was happy to write this review, I was told they would donate to Sick Kids hospital for each review I wrote.
The men were professional, clean and friendly, I was not worried being on my own with the movers and they made me very comfortable with the loading of the stuff and the delivery of the stuff as well.
Chloe was diligent with responding to my messages and emails, clearly making sure I had a good understanding of how my move would work.
I have one damaged item, which I claimed and got a response that was quick and the refund for the damage was very reasonable as far as I am concerned.
Thank you Trillium, I would be happy to use you again if I need to move.

My Move to Montreal with Trillium
In September 2012 I hired Trillium Moving to assist me with my move from Saskatoon to Montreal.
I received an email from my sales rep asking if I would mind posting a few comments about my move online to help promote their company. As incentive they are offering a $5 donation to the charity of my choice for each review I post.
I had a really good experience with Trillium, no damages, the price was right, the guys were very professional and the office staff was competent and honest.
I learned the hardway from past experience that the lowest price is NEVER the best option, like anything else you get what you pay for. Do your homework and find out about the reputation of your moving company without letting the low price distract you.
I am happy to recommend Trillium Moving to anyone looking to make a move.

September Move with Trillium
In September I did a move with Trillium from Vancouver to Hamilton. Kate contacted me and asked me if I wouldn’t mind sharing my experience online, and I was happy to oblige.
This was a well-planned move, with lots of logistics and even a pickup in SK to deal with, everything was well handled by Kate. The dates that I was promised were fulfilled, the men arrived in the time windows promised at the pickup and the delivery.
Overall I had 4 cheap dollar store plates broken, but everything else arrived as it left.
I would strongly encourage other customers that worked with Trillium to go online and post, for every review that is posted online they will donate $5.00 to Sick Kids hospital!

My move from June 2012
I made a move with Trillium in June 2012, recently Kate contacted me and asked if I would write a review of my experience with the company. With the current promotion they have running about donating to Sick Kids hospital for each review I post I was happy to do so.
I moved from Nanaimo, BC to Toronto, ON this past summer. I had arranged to have my pickup at the end of May to ensure my furniture would arrive in time for my families arrival at the beginning of June, they promised me time frame and came through!
They called the day before the pickup to let me know approximately what time they would come, and the driver called when he was an hour away. At delivery it was the same.
Everyone was very nice, in the office and at the move locations. We went through the details many times because I didn't want any surprises, after everything was organized all the communication was through email (my preference) as I have had many friends that had bad experiences with moving company and wanted proof just in case.

Very reputable
Hi everyone, I promised the sales person that helped us with the move to post a good review about the company Trillium Moving. They were very easy to deal with and took my stress levels to a minimum. I was happy with the move, and was really relieved that everything came in one piece. Aside for some small items (2 bowls) that were damaged, I am happy to report that my moving experience went just great.
The team was excellent!

Very happy customer!
We had a very good experience with this company. Moved a very long way away from our home and needed storage for more than 9 months. But I was very happy with the service and would like to make sure that future customers know that as well. I would be happy to recommend them.
Customer service was excellent and that made all of the difference with me. we received tons of quotes, but after speaking to the office staff, i felt like they will take care of my worldly possesions. Very happy customer.

Great Service
I was very happy with the service of this company. They came very recommended by family and friends who also moved with them. We moved from Alberta to Ontario and I was very happy with the service. Customer service was great, and everything arrived in one piece. We had a little delay with closing our house, but storage was an option which was great.
We are moving again once we purchase our new home and I will be using them again.

Great service. Special thanks to Kate who was really helpful through the whole process.
