When it’s not the water lurking on the edges of the fairways, it’s the ravines and narrowness of certain holes that will do you in. It was as if Graham Cooke, the designer, took a perverse pleasure in maximizing every hazard and landform of this splendid plateau in the Lower Laurentians, all the while knowing that the gods of wind would prevail there every day. This young course (1998) of the links type in the Mirabel region fully deserves its queenly name, embodying the famed monarch who cowed so many of her adversaries. You’ll need strength of character, strategy and patience to master this course.
