The following day when my friends and I arrived for our reservation, we were seated by the host, who handed out dinner menus and Michael ended up being our server.
Unfortunately, Michael told us the kitchen had closed early because of a slow night and took the dinner menus away and left us with bar menus. This was incredibly upsetting as it defeats the whole purpose of setting a reservation. Why would a restaurant close down its kitchen when there are still reservations for the evening?
Not too mention Michael's service was extremely cold and unfriendly. He almost seemed pissed off that we were there as he was speaking to us with attitude. To be honest, he seemed like a 20-something yr. old spoiled brat. I've never been treated like this at a restaurant before.
My friends and I left, walked across the street to the Firehall and celebrated my friend's birthday over serval pitchers of beer there.
Compass is a disrespectful and poorly managed restaurant. I'll never go back.
"George" was out wait person and you can tell right away that he is a professionsl and knowledgible person in the industry.

Stay away from the expensive holiday-inn style Sunday brunch...and order from the menu.We prefer weekday lunchtime..because weeknds have become crowded and service has been affected. The staff is pleasant- but a word to management. Stop telling young staff that patrons must BUY their water..because at almost five dollars a pitcher -it is unfiltered goodness. That sales pitch knocked you out of the Cucci, Julia's and Corks first class category. Sell your food,mixed drinks, and oh yes... that unbeatable Bronte view and everyone will keep coming back.
I will certainly be back to enjoy the menu which embodies local produce with wonderful little twists!
