Finally tried it for lunch the other day. Thankful that I didn't have to stand in an outside line, which I have seen before driving along Queen st east.

The fresh daily balls of meat in full view tell my it's gonna be super fresh and it doesn't disappoint, but the toppings are as basic as they get, and when faced with this I always go plain cheeseburger. I know. Sure it's boring but at least I got to really taste the fresh flavour of the beef. The bun is soft, burger well done but still juicy and I am left wanting more. The small fresh cut shoestring fries are also good and the portion couldn't be finished. Overall great, but no Messiah.

I never thought I would make this statement void of any sarcasm, but here it goes: burgers are IN. Big time.

It doesn't take a dedicated foodie to notice the infestation of Toronto by so-called "Gourmet Burger" shops. From the ridiculous (see Dangerous Dan's), to the delicate and haute (Bymark's $35 monster), Burger's have carved quite a little niche in the Toronto food scene. Decidely lacking, however, is a simple burger shop. A burger shop that foregoes the organic/local/exotic-toping-craze in favour of down and dirty, old fashioned American cheese burgers. Enter The Burger's Priest.

This place blows. my. mind. I've been more times than I'd like to admit, and each time feels equally special. There's something about their daily-ground beef and loosely packed patty that makes just a little bit of magic happen inside of my mouth.

The no-nonesense bun and simple list of ingredients shows off the meat...which is how it should be, right? When someone describes "toppings" as a reason for heaping praise on the newest burger joint, I just dont care. Call me simple. Call me out of date. I just want to taste the meat.

This place gets 5 stars for serving the BEST burger in town. Perhaps I could knock a few points off for the line ups or the lack of dining room, but you know what, forget about it. What they hand over the counter in a brown paper bag more than makes up for it.

Good, but not the BEST in town!

Additional business details

Who are we?

We grind a custom blend of ultra premium beef multiple times daily on the premises. Our beef is always fresh. We cook our cheeseburgers on a flat top griddle not on a charcoal broiler. We believe in purity, simplicity and over a hundred years of grilling and grinding techniques.

What’s Wrong We have been long exposed to massive portions of over processed over spiced frozen beef that has been charred to petrification.

What’s the solution? Fresh ground beef, soft bun, simple toppings, griddled to perfection.

What time is it? It’s time for redemption...come feast with us.
