Artists Within - Makeup Academy

I just finished my first paid Photoshoot this weekend since graduating from Artists Within and am on such a high! It was so amazing putting everything I learned into action!
I wanted to take my makeup diploma in person but because of covid ended up taking the virtual. I wasn’t sure about virtual learning but everything was really well laid out, easy to follow and still felt like being part of a class. I wasn’t sure in just 12 weeks I could go from zero to professional makeup artist but Tara was tough on us as she said she would be, making sure every line was straight and smokey eye was blended! I’m very thankful for the experience I had and feel like I’m doing what I should be! I’ll be back for Airbrushing and Advanced in June!

I recently graduated from Artists Within after taking the Makeup Diploma, Airbrushing and Advanced Makeup Diploma. I am so grateful for the everyone there, it really was the best choice! I didn't realize how much I would learn when I started. Each course went into a great deal of detail and I left feeling sure of what i needed to do as an artist but also as a business woman! I have started a great client based business that although slow during Covid I know will bounce back. I'm also so glad for the makeup kits we received with each course. I didn't need to run around getting what I needed as it was all thought out for me. Until today I haven't needed to add anything which is great as I have lots for student loans to pay off! Thanks Artists Within, I would highly recommend to anyone :))

Thank you for your dedication to making a superior makeup foundation. I tried it recently at a local hot spring, and through sweat and chasing children, it still looked flawless when we left!

My two stars is only because the instructor is exceptionally cool, and learning the fundamentals was very necessary. You can definitely go to another school and learn a lot more. It is a 2 month program even though it says it's 3. You're drilled more on timing than skill. I feel like I graduated with the same skill I had prior to taking this course, just with a little more background information. You pay about 5G's or more only for a short text book that seemed to be made by the school itself, and for a makeup kit that is also made by the school. Nobody is lying when they say they could've just learned everything on YouTube. I couldn't even recommend this school to somebody who has no idea how to apply makeup, because your skills only improve on a basic level, but not to a professional level. Again, because you're drilled more on your timing than given the time to really learn the applications.

DO NOT GO . Waist of money and time
They give you your so called $1200 makeup kit that has a bunch of worthless dollar store crap in it that burns and is not practical to use on anyone. It's maybe worth 300 at the most. The brushes fall apart the fist day and all they say is ohh well you'll have to glue it.... Umm really. The course is basically you reading out of a book . With some have assed makeup artist as your teacher.. You would learn more off YouTube most that leave the school may have a certificate but can't do makeup... They just want your money.. Save it and goes somewhere else

There is no parking so you have to pay for parking daily.
The instructor was often 20 minutes late in the morning and 20 minutes late in the afternoon.
The kit they provide is no name brand and bad make
And the cost is outrageous,

The training was very thorough, we learned the theory behind each section, saw a demo and then were able to have lots of class time to practice with positive criticism as we worked. The instructor was very good at building our confidence while being very hard on us skill wise. I always felt positive and at the same time felt I was being pushed to my limits which I am very thankful for, it’s made me the good artist I have become. Marty O
