We recently made the difficult decision to euthanize our epileptic dog as his seizures were not getting better, even with high doses of medication and naturopathic remedies being used. Aquitaine Animal Hospital was the only vet available to do this service for us (we called a dozen before them), and we'd used them before, including for this dog in December (when he had my husband help hold him down for xrays, they're not allowed to expose people to radiation we've since learned). We walked in with our dog who continued having seizures in the office. Dr. Aziz wouldn't do anything without a signed quote - which I totally understand for the average pet owner. We are not the average pet owner, we've spent thousands of dollars this year trying to help our dog, we were not worried how much euthanizing him was going to cost. Six or so seizures later, he gives him an intramuscular sedative (which we told him wasn't going to work - this dog was on high doses of medication and heavy doses of diazepam that didn't do what they were supposed to) and left us there for 20ish minutes. When he finally decided that he needed a "heavy narcotic", our dog was sleeping in seconds. While talking to my teenage son in the waiting area after the dog was euthanized, I mentioned the bloodwork that the dog had the day before and how much we'd spent in the two days. Dr. Aziz's response was "I didn't charge you for the propofol". Looking at the bill, he charged us an exam fee of $80, for what exactly? Walking through the door, because it certainly wasn't for examining our seizing dog. The icing on the cake was having my husband help put him in the transport bag. Yesterday we got a sympathy card in the mail and they couldn't even be bothered to look up our dog's name. Today I went in to pick up our dog's memorial paw print, and the receptionist placed a dose of flea medication on the counter without asking what I was there for and all I could do was look at her until she asked "is that not what you're here for?". Please, find a vet that has some empathy. I do not wish this experience on anyone.

Took my cat in for possible ear mites. Dr. checked no mites just an infection. With medication for ears and eyes the cost was $400. Outrageous ripoff!!

Part 2. My dog of almost 9years in June just had a major surgery on February 1st 2017 with Dr.Aziz. I was terribly scared for her; she has never had a surgery in her life and now she is almost 9years old. I knew there was a high risk as Dr.Aziz explained to me. He was very patient with me and went through all the things which I have asked him.
She was spayed (ovaries and uterus) taken out and a lump on her left back leg was removed as well. I spent the whole day beside my phone waiting for Dr.Aziz to call me. He told me if I don't call everything is going well. I picked up my dog around 630pm just when she was in recovery. I was extremely happy when I saw my dog that I started crying. (She is my best friend and my baby :) )
Today is Feb 5th 2017 and Dr.Aziz called me 3 times to check up on my dog. She is healing well and started to walk the next day of her surgery!
I would recommend this vet to anyone!
Thank you so much Dr.Aziz!!!

Dr.Aziz as only one from other Vet`s diagnosed my dog on first visit. Secondly you and puppy do not need unnecessary tests. Thirdly, Dr always respond to emergency calls and was ready to work.

I brought in my senior cat, Kitty, to Aquitaine Animal Hospital and the vet, Dr. Alaa S. Aziz is a great vet, he truly loves animals. I love my cat and I must say I have neglected my cat in terms of bringing him in for yearly vaccines. The Dr. was upset with me for not keeping up with the vaccines. This shows me he is a true advocate for animals. I brought Kitty to the animal hospital (Oakville/Mississauga) hospital and they were extremely expensive and did not give me the honest answers like I believe Dr. Aziz gave me. I'm a teacher and I do my research, and I did my research on the Aquitaine Animal Hospital and they're the best. He was attentive, professional and super loving towards my Kitty! I brought in my cat, thinking he was going to die and he got so much better. If you love your animals like I do, trust me and bring in your animal to Dr. Aziz. He is an animal miracle worker! :-)

I would have to disagree with the person from 12 October..... I have never felt that this vet was over charging me... in fact I say the opposite. He only does what is absolutely necessary, and because he has the lab on the premises he cuts down on costs. My dalmation has a lot of allergy problems, and Dr Aziz did test by test, showing me each result ( I am a medical technologist, so I am able to read each result), until eventually we came to a solution. Most vets would have drawn blood and ordered everything at once and paid a fortune!
As for dogs loving their vets.... Ive been to 6 other vets in Toronto, Polo hated all of them, and out of all the vets I trust dr Aziz

Dr. Aziz is an amazing doctor. He loves your pets like his own, and he understands the fact that our pets are our families. When we took our cat, Maki, in for bladder stones, we thought it was hopeless, and that we had to put Maki down. But Dr. Aziz was very determined to save Maki, and reassured us that he would do everything he could for Maki. Our cat is fine now, all thanks to Dr. Aziz. I highly recommend this veterinary clinic, the quality of service is incomparable. You wont find another doctor out there that will love and care for your pets like Dr. Aziz and his staff do. Thank you Dr.! Juli and Carol

I feel I must comment on the review written on 10/12/11. If you read it carefully I think you will find that the Client didn't have anything done except an exam and the skin analyzed. I don't know any Vet that would charge $182 for an examination and skin analysis. That would be outrageous. This sounds more than bogus to me. You are supposed to tell the truth when you write a review. I have been a Client at Aquitaine since it opened it's doors 3 years ago. I have a dog and I rescue cats, so you can imagine the amount of times I have to see a Vet. Dr. Aziz and his staff have always been professional, friendly, honest and up front. I always know ahead of time what the cost is and what needs to be done. Prices are also very reasonable in comparison. If you enter with a bad attitude, no matter where you go, things will not go well. I hope the review of 10/12/11 will not deter you from giving this Clinic a try. I'm sure you will be pleased.

This is the WORST vet BY FAR that I have ever gone to (in Canada as well as outside of Canada). I brought my four month-old puppy just to get vaccines (supposed to be incl. check-up 77$). He was completely UNPROFESSIONAL limiting with flat-out disrespectful, I had brought my puppy from out of the country and he started questioning the legitimacy of her previous vaccines (although I had a certificate of health from the national agency that is held to international standards, it is the equivalent of USDA- APHIS in the States or the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in Canada) plus they had checked her vaccine certificate at the border and they were all in order CLEARLY since she was in the country. Nonetheless, he kept insisting on "whyyy would I trust vaccines or vets not from Canada" giving me the impression all he wanted was for me to give her AGAIN all the vaccines so he could make more money. My dog did not even want the vet to touch her (this had NEVER happened before and does not happen with the new vet she LOVES him... and you know how they say dogs feel things people don't). After, he examined her skin and decided he had to look at it under microscope, he grabbed the MOST unhygienic tweezers (you could see pieces of other things on it to the naked eye) and took pieces of skin that were flaking and put them on a little glass to check under the microscope. On his way there he DROPPED EVERYTHING ON THE GROUND, "picked it up" (contamination? didn't care) and spent 3 secs "checking under the microscope" --> he wanted to charge me in the end 30$ for his "microscopic examination" without even having warned me or asked me anything before doing it. After this he said she needed antibiotics and a special shampoo (the new vet told me this was not necessary, if anything the shampoo but not the antibiotics because she is too young and sometimes its just a matter of waiting for her immune system to kick in). In the end I ended up spending 182.00$ this NOT including what he wanted to charge me for his "microscope examination" because I refused to pay for it, and WITHOUT any vaccines. He then told me that the vaccines I had to give them to her separately if not it was too dangerous for her (so I would of had to come back 3 times where I would have had to pay 45.00$ + the value of the vaccine per visit) and then I would have to come like 2 months later AGAIN (so another 45$ min.) to "follow-up" on her skin. To this day I don't understand why I just stood there instead of leaving right after the first 5 mins after he had started questioning the skills and professionalism of veterinary services from other countries. The vet I now go to in streetsville is the complete opposite, my puppy ADORES HIM, it has been such a complete different experience from this one. Needless to say I am NEVER going back to this Vet not would ever recommend it to anyone. I have a limited budget and initially this place seems attractive because its supposed to be cheaper. DO NOT BE FOOLED, as my experience shows, you end up spending more money and not even getting what you went there for. It is worth to pay a little bit more of money and go to another vet who are honest about what the puppy needs, and have better work ethic not to mention a much more pleasant experience.
