GLOW Academy has played a MAJOR part in developing my career as a Professional Makeup & Hair Artist. I took the following courses - Beauty Beginners , Bridal Makeup , Bridal Hair design and Editorial Hair Design.I was fortunate enough to learn from amazing teachers that taught me the KEY fundamentals about Makeup and Hair Artistry. I received a lot of support and guidance on how to manage clients and run an independent Freelance Artistry Business.

I was able to attend a few industry practicals that gave me a glimpse of the real life experience as a makeup artist.( i.e Fashion Against Poverty Fashion Show, Miss Canada Globe Productions , MAC tours) I also Freelanced on my own at various events (i.e Top Model Search Canada 2016 and Miss Teenage Canada 2016) . GLOW Academy also helped me establish a Freelance Makeup Artist position at MAC.

I launched my own Freelance business - “GlamZee Beauty” in early 2016 partnering with my best friend who is ALSO a GLOW Graduate. At GlamZee Beauty, we provide mobile makeovers to clients across GTA with the following services – Makeup, Hair and Henna.

I Thank GLOW Academy for helping me bring my passion for artistry to life! I LOVE GLOW Academy !!

I'm currently enrolled @ Glow Academy in the Bridal Hair Design Course and also recently completed the Beauty Make-up Course. I highly recommend this beauty school because of their knowledgeable teachers, one on on hands-on learning, friendly staff, and student practical opportunities to help new grads transition into the industry. I never expected to learn as much as I have in a short period of time. Also, the class schedules and times made it convenient for me to take part-time (as I work full time during the week). The teachers were incredibly helpful and easy to talk to.I really enjoyed my time at this school and still plan on taking other courses.

I attended Glow Academy in Toronto for their eyebrow waxing course. Ioana did a wonderful job and was extremely patient and informative. Jennifer (who I spoke to on email/telephone) was wonderful as well, she was extremely quick to respond to emails or any questions I had, and went above and beyond expectations. Overall, this is a great school and would definitely recommend.

I took some esthetic courses. The instructors were good and experienced. They knew what they were talking about. The facility looks really good too. For my manicure and pedicure courses, I had to bring my own model, so I brought a friend of mine, which was really fun. I didnt have to buy any supplies because everything was provided in class but I learnt what kind of things to buy later for my client. Course was short and price affordable. Iwana was great!

Teacher was great, very experienced. I would say if your a student who does not know anything about acrylic or gel nails, never have done it. Then this course is way to advanced for you.

1)The school it self needs to be more organised with how they run the school. when I went to the information session I was told I will not need to bring a model, that the school will provide one. Then a few days before the class date they called and told me I needed to bring a model on short notice. 2) In information session they told me I will be getting my own nail kit to use. But instead I was using the teacher*s personal tools. 3) Then when I was finished the courses they told me I will receive my certificate in 3 weeks. I had to keep calling to ask about my certificate, when I will get it.

I have a cousin who attended their Toronto location and had a great experience so she suggested I check out the missisauga location as I live in milton.

I took their bridal makeup and hair course and my instructor was great! Very knowledgeable in what she was teaching in terms of technique and she was very patient with me as I practiced my new skills. She was also a working professional in the industry so she was able to give our class a lot of in sight into how the industry works which was invaluable.

Overall I had a good experience and am planning on taking some of their advanced makeup courses next year.

I realize a lot of the other reviews are positive but my experience with glow academy was awful. Initially I signed up for the course and they changed the dates and nobody contacted me, after that got sorted out, anytime I called or emailed the school nobody EVER replied. The teacher forgot her keys oneday so they cancelled class altogether for one whole day and we didn't reschedule it. In addition to this and several other problems I encountered, the makeup the school provides is awful awful awful makeup. I opted out of an expensive Toronto school because of the cost but glow academy ended up costing me the same in the end. I really regret giving the owner my money. All she does is post pictures on Instagram of the things she buys with her money, and pictures of herself and her awful makeup. Do your research before attending this school!

I know lots of people replenishing kits with the same product, maybe you arent using it right lol and the owner gives a lot of free business training and motivation to grads from her achievements from before the academy so that they can be successful, see it as inspirational. your money is a waste if you quit after classes theres so much more available to us

I had high expectations of this school since I paid so much money. However, on the first day the teacher was half an hour late. While practicing make up on one another the teacher saw everyone make mistakes and did not bother to go up to them and correct them. She only sat on her chair and looked around. She only showed us one kind of a smokey look. Half of the girls in my class didn't even learn to glue lashes the right way and the teacher just went around and said good job instead of correcting it. It's not worth the money we spend. Therefore, I don't recommed this school. Ps. the room is so small that you can't even move around they dont even have an AC. It's very hard to work in such a tight space.
Comment by monikat4 on Oct 07, 2015
no ac? small rooms? teachers not correcting student mistakes? what's left then? none of this is true based on my experience.
this is what an internet troll looks like. lol!

I attended Glow for some makeup courses and the eyelash extensions course. Overall I had a great experience. For the MUA courses, I was able to get my makeup case with product in advance so was well prepared for the first day. The instructor was nice and always came to class looking good and remained professional. I really liked that we got opportunities to do makeup events along with the in class to practice what was learned but also start up an MUA resume.
The eyelash course was also good. Got plenty of hands on experience which helped me get use to the technique as it can be time consuming. I appreciated being shown the business side of being an eyelash tech as I now have my own clientele and know how to price/market my services.
At times it was hard to get a hold of someone at the school but once the ball got rolling I was pleased. Glow Academy is a good place to start!!!!!!!!!!

I went to Glow Academy and it was an amazinggg experience!!!! Not only did I get my Advanced Bridal Certification but I built a great resume from the practical opportunities which enhanced my hands on skills. Staff and teachers were so friendly and helpful!! Kit was fab and after a few classes I was able to book my first clients. I honestly love my case, one of the best. Such a trendy and positive atmosphere. I highly recommend Glow!!!

I had taken some makeup classes at another school a couple of years ago and I attended glow academy for additional makeup classes in fall of last year. Really enjoyed my time there. The instructors were professionals working actively in the industry, so they were able to give a lot of insight into how it was working and freelancing in the industry which was really valuable information. The class sizes were 10-15 students. The class had an instructor and TA so the student to teacher ratio was good.

I shopped around and compared prices among schools and glow had very comprehensive courses, with practical opportunities that we could sign up for along the way, professional photoshoots were also done with images provided to add to our portfolios. The shoots turned out really well and really gave me an edge when it came to applying for jobs and showcasing my work for potential makeup bookings. They also provided a beauty business class that told us about how to go about starting your freelance business on your own and if we needed any one on one help with doing that then they can do that as well. Everyone was very understanding and accommodating.

All in all I was very happy with the school. They even let me make up a class at no charge that I had missed due to a family emergency as I know most schools charge for any additional classes. I am planning on going back this summer to take some more classes.

Honestly biggest waste of money!! Worst school ever the teacher showed no interest what so ever, super disorganized, they never pick up the phone, and seriously should look way more professional if your a beauty school-- like don't have ratty looking hair with crusty eyelashes eww... Our make up kit trolly didn't come till pretty much the last week of school so we had to carry our makeup in a thin bag that ripped so easily. The teacher showed up like an hour late and we didn't even makeup for the time lost, don't even get me started on the makeup it self!!! For contouring we had to use this tiny mini eyeshadow with a big fluffy brush like why did I pay so much money for this program and kit when it was so not worth it.. While working on each other in class the teacher just sat there and did nothing, and on practical day for our "photo shoots" the teacher wasn't even there and to top it all off if we wanted all of the shots we need to pay an additional $25 which is rediculous considering we didn't even get marked on them (money grabber). I don't know about other people but this is just my experience and I thought It was wayyyyy OVER PRICED and I would NEVER recommend anyone to go here!

omg. I suggest you contact the school and allow them to help you. i graduated last year and still get invited to so many things that we dont have to pay for. my friend went to another school and our kit has way more things and all. i think maybe you have nothing to compare to it. anything negative feedback give to the school so they can clarify or help you, writing this is tarnishing the rep of a place you invested in, makes no sense. so many more good things to focus on. trust me it will be good for you.

Attended glow academy back in winter of this year. I took a couple of their makeup & hair courses. I had shopped around and glow definitely had the best overall offering. The teachers were people who are currently actively working in the makeup industry, the facility looked great and was kept clean and I loved that I had a full professional makeup kit that had everything I needed. They also have a professional studio space with a professional photographer that did a great job with all our portfolio shoots. I will be going back next year for additional courses and can safely say that this school came out on top when I did my research.

I had to upgrade my skills to include Airbrush makeup since almost half of my clients are asking for it and also add some advanced looks to my portfolio.

I chose and liked glow academy because they seemed to have a good hands on course, they have a studio onsite where we did portfolio shoots and students get lots of industry opportunities.

Only thing is that I wish prices were a bit lower, but then again I got a great kit, portfolio edits and a lot of industry work while I was there so really it was a fair price.

Some other schools cost more, private lessons were much cheaper elsewhere but in the end it was worth the investment. With airbrush now my rates are at least 40% more which makes up for what I paid. People respond well when I say that I studied at GLOW, that's the best part.

The teachers are great, very helpful and understanding. The overall environment of the school is friendly and everyone is so helpful in achieving my career goals. Ive learned a lot of great new techniques in all the courses I have taken so far. Great school! I would recommend this school to all.

I think this school is great with their teaching techniques and teachers experience, however a few things I have noticed which i would like to point out:

- they seem very disorganized with the students schedules
- they dont answer the phone and sometimes take way too long to answer emails
- the airbrush class is no good (airbrushing doesnt even show up on the skin with the product they use)
- in the practicals, you are asked to complete tasks you may not have been trained for

Overall, the school is great and you will definately learn the necessary skills to be confident in this business, however you may wish to consider the facts above before making your decision.

Currently enrolled at this school. A family member recommended glow to me.
Love going to class. Very fun environment and atmoshphere.
Teachers are REALLY good.
The place looks really nice!
The school has flexible class schedule which worked best for me as I work during the day.
The opportunities we get for our portfolio shoots and practical placements is amazing.
Worth the money I am paying as I've started getting booked for paid jobs already.
Will be taking additional courses in the future at glow.

I attended glow academy earlier this year for their lash extension course and the training I received was very very good. The instructors truly care about their students and the small class sizes really makes a difference when you receive individual attention. The great thing about the school is that they give you lots of opportunity for practice until you feel confident enough to work on actual clients.
