Just picked up our poor Harley at Camp Cookstown. She was attacked on Saturday by another dog, they are telling me it was completely unprovoked. These dogs are supposed to be vetted for bad social behaviour. How does a dog suddenly attack another dog for no reason? This is the forth incident she's had at Camp Cookstown. Two bouts of kennel cough, a broken tooth and now this. To add insult to injury no call, no vet visit and they leave a poor young girl to "explain" this all to me on pick up, and suggest I take her to the vet because she believes the wound is infected. All this and they have never offered a discount, or to pay any of our vet bills! This time the owners of the other dog will be paying our vet bill, not them, nope they will make them pay, even if they allowed an unfriendly dog to mix with other dogs. I've forgiven way too much and now I'm paying for it. We won't ever go back and I strongly suggest you don't either. I hope they enjoy their money, while we deal with a skittish dog and a very upset 10 year old! I'm so mad and upset right now, I

Got a call from Camp Cookstown to tell me that my dog had received a cut on his back. Left work early to pick him up and found out that the "cut" was, in fact, a very bad bite (according to my vet, through the skin and subcutaneous tissue deep into the muscle, requiring 2 layers of stitching). It turned out to be the worst of SIX broken skin bites he received along the entire left side of his body: side of his face, ear, upper and lower front leg, 2 on his back and one on his rear leg. The vet said that the one-sided pattern indicated that my dog had been against a wall or fence while other dog(s) went at him. A supervisor from the facility (who was not even there when it happened) stated that this was "impossible since the dogs are under complete supervision at all times - staff would have seen this". When I pointed out that my dog had received six bite wounds, NONE of which were observed by the staff when they happened, and five of which were not noticed by them after they happened, l was told that, perhaps, he was "nipped" by another dog when running around the yard. No explanation as to why they were all located along the same side of his body. Camp Cookstown refused to take responsibility or provide any sort of recompense.

Had our two dogs stay at camp cookstown. The stay was for a week. First day was told our dogs were great. Second day we received a phone call that one of our dogs had a fight with another dog. They told us that the dog had to leave. What!! We were already out of the country. We had no other means to get our dogs, let alone place them when we weren't even in the country. It was so upsetting and stressful. So be prepared that if your dog acts up, you have to remove them immediately. They had no sympathy. They also have the dogs alone in the barn from 7 pm - to 7 am with no supervision. We will never recommend this camp. They are all smiles at the beginning and useless when it comes to controlling dogs. We actually had to come back early because of them.

Thank you so much for your wonderful care of our Chloe! She is very tired, but so are we from our trip, so it is lovely to all be home together and relaxing from our fun holidays! It was so exciting to watch her run up to us from "the barn" when we came to pick her up, obviously happy and healthy. We were told she'd be tired for a day or two once she came home, from all the running and playing she had enjoyed for her 5 day stay, and you are correct! She has found her sunny spot on the floor and has literally passed out!

Our initial tour convinced us that yours is a well run establishment. Your team introduced us by name (and nature) individually to all your guests already at camp - what fun! How impressive that your team could speak easily about each camper, and how they observed initial interactions between ALL the dogs to ensure a great start. When we dropped Chloe off a couple of days later, we were so surprised that she didn't even look back as we left!!! She was much more intent on getting to her new friends.

I have to also add that your rates are VERY reasonable when you consider the quality of care, the EXTREMELY CLEAN and comfortable accommodations, and particularly your program using animal group theory - not one single chain link run or cage/kennel used was something I was very impressed by. All that room to run, to play and to rest was amazing.

Thank you to your entire team of PROFESSIONALS. We were so impressed during the first tour right through to the moment we picked Chloe up, and truly appreciated all the communication in between (you responded to our emails so quickly, wonderful peace of mind for us), we could not have asked for a better experience.

Now that we have found your awesome doggy destination, we will be sure to pass along your info to friends and family - folks are ALWAYS looking for quality care for their beloved pets, and clearly Camp Cookstown is the place for furry family members.

Thanks again,
Bob and Darlene Mulligan

I am very appreciative that we now have Camp Cookstown as the boarding option for our dog Teddy! With our previous dogs we felt that a traditional boarding kennel was a safe and great option......and then we adopted our shy and fearful husky. He has been terrified of new people and situations but I was amazed at how quickly he caught on to the positive environment. After his first stay at Camp, we know that the staff helped him come out of his shell and the interaction with the other visiting dogs helped take care of his physical energy. We met a more confident dog, who was tired and happy after his stay. I got to see a clean and inviting facility and I can't say enough about the enthusiastic and positive staff. I saw them caring and handling a variety of dogs in a changing dynamic as visitors come and go. The pre-visit is a smart and responsible step to ensure that the boarding dogs are friendly interacting with the others. I only wish they were on my way to work so we could also take advantage of doggie day care. I have found the best place for my dog!

The camp is a wonderful place to take your dog for a long stay or just for a day. The people are wonderful, and your dog comes home complete exhausted. My Great Dane is so excited when we arrive there, so she can play for the day, and make new friends. The concept of this camp is awesome! I highly recommend it to all dog owners.

My high energy Lab came home exhausted!

The sleeping arrangements ensure the dogs are not lonely. The kennel itself is very clean and well maintained.

I highly recommend
