Lovely grand hall everything else was pathetic.
The fillet mignon had the consistency and color of soft rubber and tasted like rubber. The chicken chewed like a piece of latex . it seems the meat was cooked without proper defrosting.
The bar was not stocked with basic mixes, no tomato juice, no clamato, no tabasco no worcestershire sauce.
Warm bottles of water were placed on the table.
The sea food buffet served fried shrimps cold , lobster and crab with uncracked shells. How do you expect guest dressed for a wedding to crack lobster and crab shells.
The toilets were not maintained and were practically unusable .
I have a one word advice for the owners of this banquet hall "SELL" you have no business being in the hospitality business try your hand at something else a gas station maybe.

Hall is owned by a successful hall owner of other halls within the GTA so when they switched owners, I was quite happy and decided to keep the contract. I also worked along one of the other halls with a friend of mine whom got married at that other hall. Well, it was a disappointment. Is the place stunning, absolutely. Mainly why I chose it, you save money on decor but it ends there. Staff do not know what they are doing. They are overwhelmed, try and over compensate for there lack of skills and quite frankly do not know how to run a hall of this magnitude. If I were you, I would go somewhere else. This owner needs to spend time at this hall and see that whom he trusted to run it, will run this establishment to the ground.

When GV changed ownership to a man whom runs a very successful hall In Brampton which I was apart of a wedding there, I was very happy. He needs to come into this hall for an extended time and run it. Cuz if he doesn't this hall will go out of business. It's awful, other than how stunning the hall is the staff and the no attention to detail is awful. I'm
Convinced they don't know what they are doing. Thank god we need how to throw good parties b/c GV didn't do anything to make the experience better. I feel that my money should have been spent elsewhere and I wish it had been.

We had our wedding reception at Grand Victorian on 27th February ,2016. We were scared since the management changed after we booked this venue in last Sept ,2015 and the new management got rid of all employees with whom we negotiated and settled terms . Our new contact person Ms. Seema Kaur took over our wedding arrangements and she did an exemplary job. She worked out everything to its finest details and to the utmost perfection.Food was excellent and was appreciated by our Guests from different Cultures and Ethnicity. The Hotel decor was beyond our expectation . The overall service quality was way beyond normal standards . I would give Ms. Seema perfect 10 for all the arrangements and we greatly appreciate her hard work and perseverance in making our function a Grand Success .The whole function was handled as a family affair .We have another function later this year and we will definitely be hosting at Grand Victorian . We were totally surprised to see her till 2 am working hard to oversee the arrangements along with Mr. Sidhu . Services of Mr. Devinder Singh and Mr. Prashanth (GM) were par excellent in ensuring our guests had a wonderful experience .
The only issue we had was of parking since the Hotels lets out its parking to guests who park their vehicles at Hotel premises and fly away resulting in no available space. Before our Celebrations started at 630 PM surprisingly there were only 4 parking left at Venue and we expected over 150 Vehicles that night . Mercifully they had alternate arrangements in adjoining locations but that was a bit in bad taste since guests had to park at different locations and had to walk many times over 300 to 350 Meters in snow and gusty winds but there overall quality of services shadowed this lapse .

Horrible Management and Horrible Customer Service! Our issue is with Grand Victorian but Grand Empire is now running the show for Grand Victorian.

I would definitely proceed with caution especially when working with Gurjeet Singh and Durwinder Sidhu.

We were supposed to have our wedding reception at the Grand Victorian on August 2016 when the ownership was changed. The new Managers (Grand Empire) decided to leave us voicemail's requesting us to contact them. Once contacted, they requested we switch our reception side to accommodate a wedding party that was larger by 50 people. Needless to say we were not impressed, considering we had a signed contract and had put down a considerable deposit to secure the date, hall and time for the event.
Gurjit had presented us with 3 options: switch halls, increase the number of guests or cancel and get a refund. We decided on cancelling our reception there as we lost trust in them and their conduct. We have been pursuing the return of our deposit of $2000+ since October 25th. They refused to put anything down in writing after repeated requests.

We have now been chasing them non-stop for the past 4.5 months for our deposit. Not one single phone call has been returned, as of last week they have actively screened our calls and the office will not respond to any inquiries. Gurjeet is now on vacation after promising we would have our deposit returned the weekend of Jan 23rd, 2016. We found out about his vacation through the front desk. He has actively led us on for a number of months and continually promised the return of the deposit.

Our wedding is now in April, after a stressful planning process to make sure our vendors can accommodate us on such a short notice.

Through all of this one thing is for sure: Grand Empire: obviously does not care about reputation or their customers. Absolutely the worst entertainment company, with even worse management. Knowing that none of this was our doing I cannot imagine what they could do if for unforeseen reasons their clients had to change the date or time or not hold their event there altogether.

To the Management & Staff of
the Grand Victorian Convention Centre:
On behalf of our entire family, I would like to thank you very much for making evening of Aug 30, 2015 my son's (Moaaz with Mariam Tahir) Wedding Reception an awesome and memorable one!
Using your Grand Victorian Convention Centre as the venue was the smartest choice we could have ever made. Our daughter - Asma's function in 2014, here under previous management was nicely organized so our choice was obvious. Though our contract for this event was made with the previous management, the new management cooperated with us nicely. They offered us an acceptable solution to accommodate most terms. We appreciate new management for their understanding and professionalism.
The event was excellent , everything went according to plan. The servers were cordial, far beyond our expectations. The chef did best job .The floor plan designed was perfect. There was more than enough room for everyone and the activities. the Banquet hall looked elegant and beautiful. The staff was courteous and very helpful. The cleanliness of the venue in its entirety was one thing that really intrigued us.
Thanks to Natalie, Samir and Max, you all did great job- far beyond our expectations.
Everyone complimented us on the floor setup and delicious food. Food was awesome, all dishes tasted superb and had generous portions. Your staff, Max was responding politely, quickly acting /communicating and coordinating professionally with your staff --he was helpful with everything we needed. He remain attentive till the end of the event.
The whole evening was truly wonderful and memorable. Thank you again so much!

I wanted to book this venue for my daughter's wedding however, being from Vancouver, I was unable to go see it in person right away. I called the venue and asked to speak to a sales person. Everytime I was forwarded, I received the answering machine. The lady Fatima Bukhari who is the sales manager there never called me back even after leaving countless requests to speak with her which was very frustrating. She did start contacting me via email but she would never completely answer my emails and her emails were very rude and abrupt. When she would make my contract she would always forget to modify it the way we had discussed in our emails. Because of these communication difficulties I requested many times that she speak with me on the phone so that all issues can be clarified and if I did by chance get to her by phone she would tell me she is busy and told me to call her back after which I would be unsuccessful in reaching her. I sent my nephew to go see the place and he took pictures and told me that a lot of the venue's attractions did not work such as the waterfall. Because there was no running water, there would be a dank smell in the lobby. The rooftop garden cannot be called a garden there are just a few shrubs on the edges of the place. Afterwards Danesh Irani (Danny) was in contact with me and when I tried to discuss my issues he basically told me now it was too late to make any changes and he couldn't accommodate me in any way. I have had a terrible experience with this place and would not recommend anybody to go through the torture I went to.

My fiance called Danny (Danesh) and made an appointment with him for Saturday, September 6 @ 4 PM. We called at around 3 PM and pushed the appointment time to 4:30 PM. When we got there, no one was there to greet us or even ask us if they could help us. After asking for Danny a few times from a few different people, a lady called him and Danny informed my fiance to meet him in the lobby. We waited for 30 minutes and he did not show up. The man behind the desk was rude and, in my opinion, did little to make the situation better. I personally believe that his lack of respect for our time is a clear indication that he did not value our business. Only when I was leaving did another gentleman (For the first time) say SORRY and ask me to wait a bit more saying he would call Danny immediately.

However, after noticing Danny being absent for 30 minutes, we can only imagine what a nightmare it would be to have our wedding with the Grand Victorian Staff. We expected that MAYBE Danny would call my fiance to offer an apology, but in a similar fashion as we saw on Saturday, he did not care that much to retain potential customers (with what I believe is a fairly large wedding of ~ 350 people)

PS - A man working there walked by us and told us to book somewhere else!! He told us the venue has good food and looks beautiful, but the staff either doesn't listen to you, take forever to do what you request or simply don't do it at all. He told us they were not organized at all (and I saw this to be true because they were still setting up for an event at 5 PM and other places I've been to are ready by 1-2 PM).This was when we first came so we brushed it off, and laughed about it. After 30 minutes of waiting though, I could see exactly what that worker was saying.

If we are kept waiting for the first meeting, I can only imagine the horrible service we would receive afterwards. Looking into some of the reviews now, I can see that my wedding would have been stressful if I had it here.

Proceed at your own risk!

Hello,

For all the people who had a party in this venue would you please tell me how it was? It seems like a small banquet and I have a big family. I love the banquet hall and would really like to book it but i just need some advice from people who had at least 600 people at their wedding reception to tell me how tight any if there had to be tables put on the dance floor?!

Thank you

I apologize for not being able to write to you earlier. Thank you so much for all that you did on our wedding day (July 8, 2012). The way we were treated was like royalty and your staff and yourself are the best people anyone can be around. The service staff was amazing, the food was spectacular! My experience working with Danny from Grand Victorian was nothing short of amazing! As with every couple, Martin and I wanted everything to be perfect! Searching for venues came to a complete halt the minute we saw the Grand Victorian. When we met with Danny he was very personable and answered all our questions. After we booked the event he was attentive to our needs and requests (and many phone calls and emails), and promised that if there was something we wanted, to ask him and if he could deliver it he would. He definitely kept his promise!

The venue is GORGEOUS, the service is impecible (before the wedding and on the day of the wedding—- the wait staff, the bar tenders, hotel receptionist, etc). Our guests (a mixture of Portuguese, French, Canadian, and Italian), were impressed with the food, ambiance, and service.

Thank-you Danny and to the Grand Vicorian team. The dreams we had for our wedding day were far surpassed thanks to you and your team of comptent and helpful staff.

It was a last minute decision to spend the night at the Grand Victorian and I must say the whole event lived up to my expectations. The ballroom is very elegant, suitable for any occassion. The food was excellent and the sweet table presented just before midnight really suprised me with all the delicious choices there.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place to hold any kind of event.
Very impressive!!

It has been almost a year exactly since my husband and I had our reception at the Grand Victorian Convention Centre. Danny promised me on my first visit to the hall that he would help to make my dreams of being a bride come true, and he definitely delivered. The food was unbelievable- served piping hot and in perfect time. The sound system was absolutely state of the art and the lighting was indescribable. The entire evening was a princess' dream.
Here is one of my very favourite stories- I love sweets. Very much. And I was looking forward to the 11pm Sweet Table more so than my dinner! Unfortunately by the time I was able to get to the table, the servers were taking it down (it was about 1:30am at that point). I said to one of the ladies 'can I get a few of these in a to go container?' and she said 'oh, don't worry, that lady over there is already putting a couple of platters together for you and your husband. The platters will be in your room when you go upstairs.' That in itself made me feel like a Hollywood superstar. Not only did the Grand Victorian have all of the big details bang on, but they gave a great deal of attention to the small minute tiny details that really gives the experience a certain 'it' factor that cannot be found just anywhere. An incredible staff, an incredible leader (Danny) and an indescribable experience.

On October 15th my husband and I will celebrate our first year anniversary. Danny has arranged for us to stay in the same room that we stayed at on the night of our wedding and for us to have dinner and breakfast as well. What an incredible way to celebrate our one year anniversary and yet another example of the extreme and perfect detail that the Grand Victorian offers.

From one bride to another- a great hall will make your night one for the record books. Best wishes to you all!

We had our wedding at the Grand Victorian Convention Centre on Friday August 5, 2011 and all I can say is everything was a dream come true. Danny was amazing, he understood my vision and handled everything. The staff at the Grand Victorian are spectacular they made sure that all my guests were taken care of and that all their needs were met. I had guests tell me that they felt like they were walking into a ball and that they had never seen anything so beautiful.

From the venue to the dj, to the food and the service my wedding day was a dream come true.

This venue has everything you could ever want for a wedding. from getting married on the rooftop terrace to lobby for cocktails then the ballroom for your reception and hotel suites for your guests. Everything was at out fingertips.

Danny I owe you so much thank you for everthing.

Every little girl envisions her wedding day as being a magical, spectacular and an unforgettable day. Our wedding reception at the Grand Victorian made this brides dream come true! The Grand Victorian first draws you in with its irresistible atmosphere with enchanting ceilings, amazing banquet halls and wonderful individuals greeting you.

Once the process started my husband and I dealt directly with Danny, the hotel co-coordinator. To say the very least he is an unforgettable individual. He treated us like family and was exceptionally accommodating. It became obvious that Danny has a true passion for this business and understands what the couple is undergoing and does everything possible to make it a perfect event.

Moving on to the food....amazing! I heard nothing but praises from the guests. Grand Victorian was able to provide me with a Canadian and Indian sit down dinner and it was effortless and fantastic. Service was great and there was so much attention from the staff the day off.

I highly recommend Grand Victorian for whatever event you may have. The service, food and atmosphere is one of a kind and Danny adds a little of spice in the equation.

Words cannot describe how grateful my husband and I are to Grand Victorian for making our day prefect.

Thank you!

To Grand Victorian Staff,

I don’t know if I ever will able to put my experience about the event into words but will try to sum-up with best possible way. You did a fantastic job of organizing the event, providing entertainment and co-ordinating the menu. Your planning and hard work made the day special and memorable. You are an amazing team. The food, the decorations--you forgot nothing. I can never forget how touched I am by your efforts to make this “wedding Reception” so wonderful. You can have no idea how much this day has meant to me. You are an incredible team and your organization and managerial skills are unsurpassed. My wife felt so special and touched with the kind of hospitality provided. All my friends felt so special and happy with the food and arrangements.

Danny , In simple terms you made my day and will never forget your efforts.

Was there for a wedding this weekend and worst FOOD EVER!!!

venue is nice however the service could not have been worse.

COLD FOOD
Fish bones found in the chicken (there was no fish served at all? where did this fish bone come from????)
they Res-used the Yellow Rice from dinner with the seafood rice to serve at the midnight buffet

After speaking with the bridal party I found out that the dinner was supposed to be a 3 course meal with fish and the hall had messed up. Worse was apparently they paid a small fortune UPFRONT before the wedding.

EVERYONE was talking about how bad the food was it ruined the entire wedding!

My fiancee and I just booked our wedding at the grand victorian for January 2012. I've been in contact with Danny for the last 3 months and although it takes some time to reach him by phone, he is very receptive to your needs. We didn't receive any resistance from him when we asked him for something we wanted at our wedding.
The venue is beautiful and he's working with us to make our European style wedding the way we are envisioning it. I am hopeful things are going to turn out.

I will never have an event at this Venue! I was the social event coordinator for my accounting firm and this place would never make it on my list of venues to attend.

I have never written a review online but I feel the need to share my views on this particular venue. It was a terrible experience!

My family attended an event at the Grand Victorian Convention Centre in summer of 2010. The elevator to the banquet room was out of service and we were guided to another elevator in the hotel side of the building. We were let off on a floor of the hotel and led down a hallway of rooms whereby we ultimately entered a hotel room at the end of the hall. From there we went through the hotel room and out the balcony doors down a very unsturdy piece of plywood and onto a gravel laced area where the air conditioning units were located. We trekked past an area of dirt, dust, gravel etc. until we reached a patio which then led us into the terrace room. The event had not even started and I ruined my heels, I was sweating and was full of dust and dirt from my trek to the event room. Not to mention, I had a stroller with a baby that I had to get through this ordeal as well.

There was a guest in a wheelchair, elderly guests and many infants and toddlers in strollers which had to make the same trek. This route was a safety hazzard to the guests and I am appauled that this was allowed.

The bathrooms were not located on the same floor as the hall and for anyone who could not walk down two flights of stairs or who had a child, we were told by the staff people that the hotel room that we had initially exited through was provided for our use as there was no other access to the facilities and no change tables for the infants/toddlers. So we had to trek back through the gravel, dust and dirt every time we had to change our infants/toddlers. At one point, while we were changing our baby, the staff was also using this same hotel room as a throughway to bring the food back and forth to the event room...yum!

The day that we attended this event, it happened to be a scorching hot day. We were in the terrace room and very soon realized that as more guests arrived and entered the room, the temperature inside the room was rising. We asked one of the staff people if they could turn on the air conditioning and they responded that because the doors to the terrace were constantly being opened that they would not turn on the air. Again, we were appauled by the unprofessionalism of the staff persons response as we sat in a sweltering room without air conditioning. They were kind enough however to put a fan at the corner of the room towards one table where an elderly woman was seated. Unbelievable!

The staff was obviously untrained and very unprofessional. The manager of the event was dressed as if she were going to the gym with some sort of black track pants and a shirt.

When we asked our waiter for grated cheese for our pasta course, we finally received it when we received the entree course. Very efficient!

I don't know how to put into words what a great disappointment this place was. I am very sympathetic to the guests of honor who held their event here merely because the ambiance appeared to be nice. Remember, things are not always as they appear. The facade of this venue is just that...a facade. There is not an ounce of class or prestige with this facility nor with the management and staff.

I was only a guest at this venue, but wanted to warn anyone who is looking for a great venue to hold their special event.....to stay very clear of this one.

Finally, someone is telling the truth of a horrible event.

Venues such as Grand Victorian are used for special occasions. These occasions take many hours of planning and great expense to make the memories last a lifetime.
With this event, the memories will definitely last forever as the worst event attended.

Yes, it was in the dead of summer with no air conditioning. Just imagine that...a room full of people and no air conditioning.

Considering the quality of service that is advertised, why were the servers so inexperienced, not even knowing what utensils to use to service each course, not to mention the proper etiquette for servicing.

The meal was served and returned back slightly touched. On my table of 10, not one person ate even half of their meal. What a shame.

There was a beautiful expensive cake to help celebrate this event, which was left totally uncut. Did the servers think it was a decorate piece????

I could continue commenting on the displeasure I have have for this venue, but will only mention one more, the fact being that 3 guests at my table experienced gastrointestinal upset later that evening. I wonder why??

USER BEWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Please anyone who is considering holding an event at the Grand Victorian....don't do it! We had our son's baptism at this venue June,2010 and the day was a complete nightmare. To reel us into booking **&%$ pulled out all the stops and once the booking was complete and they had our money staff's mannerism changed completely. The day of the baptism "nothing" went right...NOTHING. We were not given the food we asked or paid for (some courses we got something different and some courses we didn't get at all), were not given a champagne toast (which was in the contract), our $300.00 cake went into the garbage because they never cut it...and that's not everything. We had our function on the rooftop terrace. The elevator was broken so they brought guests up through the "back entrance" with gravel walkways, plywood ramps (for our guests with a wheelchair) which broke while being used and refrigeration units and pipes all around for people to see. Staff were highly unprofessional and rude to us and our guests. They completely ruined our son's baptism day and we wish that we had gone with a reputable hall instead of going "somewhere different". Each and every one of our guests left our function very disappointed....not to mention every guest vowed to "never" set foot in the Grand Victorian Convention Centre ever again. BEWARE!!! There is nothing grand about this place!! They ruined our son's day, our day and our guests day!!!

I just had my wedding at the Grand Victorian in July, 2010. The hall is beautiful for sure but the service provided by Danny is amazing. I have dealt with him from day one and he has been extremely professional and very accomadating to all our requests. Danny's excellent service made the event extra special. The hall, the food, the staff is all perfect. Highly recommended!!!

The best wedding reception and hall ever.... this is what all of our guests, photographers, DJ, and all of our people said when the day came.
My fiancé, now wife, and I just got married at the Grand Vic on June 5th, and the experience was more than we had imagined. The room was gorgeous, the lights and sound were fantastic, and the service was excellent. Danny, the GM was on hand and made sure everything went smoothly and the night was run with the utmost in professionalism.
I am a details type of person, and believe me they had every detail down perfectly, from the well place cutlery to the slight mist in the air that made the lighting pop. When I saw the room and the setup that night, my jaw dropped (and that is hard for anyone to do), it was beyond any expectations I had, and it fully validated everything Danny said it would be.
We were referred to the hall by my sister's friend and went there and met with Danny back in January. From the first meeting he was very accommodating and explained everything to us. We then had several other meetings and phone calls to work out the details, some repetitive but Danny accommodated as it helped put our minds at ease knowing that all details were well worked out. We booked the whole facility including the rooftop gazebo and garden view room as we had two ceremonies and a lunch, we also had another function on the Friday as well. Each function was handled perfectly. We also booked several rooms in the hotel for our out of town guests, they were all highly impressed with the rooms and service. The rooms are fantastic, the whole facility exudes luxury. Our photographers said it was the best hall they have ever seen and it is a photographers dream.
Danny showed a genuine interest in making sure all of our functions leading up to the wedding, and the wedding itself, ran perfectly. He really goes the extra mile, not sure how he manages with the long hours he works, but he does and does it well.
I have been in the hospitality industry for several years (restaurants, banquets, bars, clubs etc...) and this is one of the best facilities I have ever seen, if not THE BEST.
My wife and I could not have been happier with the way all was handled by Danny and the Grand Vic. GREAT JOB DANNY!!!

Would I recommend the Grand Vic... YES, hands down. You don't just get what you pay for, you get more, and you will be more than happy…. and most importantly your mind will be at ease knowing that your function will be handled extremely well.

Hello,
My star rating is for the first impression only.....I will update it after the event !!

My sister has recently booked the Grand Victorian for her 2011 wedding.
She has been dealing with Danny. Personally, he seems a little shaddy at first, but the more she spoke to him, I could tell he was very excited about the facility and in making the wedding day a special and memorable one. He is passionate about the venue, the food and the service. He offers many ideas. He is not pushy and lets you know its up to you he is just offering his thoughts. I am sure he has seen alot and knows what works.
The DJ cost is a little much, but taking into account that teh DJ booth is out of sight above the floor level is a bonus. Personally, I hate speakers in my ear when sitting right next to a floor level DJ booth. Loud music throughout dinner is a BIG N NO ! Dinner is a time to get to know those around you. Loud speakers takes away from that intimacy of being at a wedding NOT A CLUB ! The extra money is worth the in house DJ service. The venue offers a tasting before you wedding. You knwo what you are getting and you can always make in known that it is exactly what you want or not. Change it. Try it again until its perfect. Why go into it blind. Food is as important as the venue. If someone offers you steak and you get roast beef don't pay for it. Get that in the contract. You have a right to get what you pay for. Ask questions, get it on paper always. No matter what you are booking, buying or selling. A contract is a contract. Read it.
The only dislike about the venue is the exterior grounds. It could use for a some landscaping, parking lot smoothing and removal of that aweful horse and carriage statue out front. Its takes away from the beauty of the venue's interior. Its more like a sleepy hollow looking statue rather then a cinderella one !! REALLY get rid of it !!!!
The cost is great for what my sister is getting. But, she is getting 75% of the hall. The other portion is booked by another wedding. This allows for full capacity so the venue is making as much as a single room hall would be making if not more. It holds more people then most single room halls do. He is not loosing by dropping the cost.
Also, I have heard many great things about the hall and service since Danny has taken over. He could learn to be a little more customer service friendly. Its great that he is really passionate about the hall ect, but he should be as passionate for those who want to book the venue. Afterall, its these types of reviews that make it or break it not his passion for the venue. I'll take his job any day and make the first impression even that much more pleasant !

We have attended some of the parties at the Grand Victorian. Oh the banquet hall is so good. It looks so royal. The appearance of the place makes you feel king.....the expensive chandeliers and paintings....the food ....their service....it will really be successful in coming years...
