We went there twice and the food and service are excellent. Yes, we had reservations both times and I also preordered the appetizers since we were expecting out of town guests and I didn't want them to wait too long. Excellent!

Never again! Besides the fact that our food tasted rancid, there was a horrible odour of eggs coming from the kitchen area. When we asked the host what the smell was all about, we were told that it's often like that. It's one thing to eat 'bad' food. It's another though to have a bad meal while sitting in a place that smells like a urinal full of eggs. Eat at your own risk! If for some reason you're still inclined to try it out for yourself, take along a gas-mask!!!

had dinner for 10 people. the service was horrible, the owner had such a bad attitude. what a bad experience. the owner couldn't face the fact that the service was so bad he might have to give something for free. we would never go back and neither will the people in our party.

I will start by saying I have been to stonefire around 30 times. I even organized my staffs christmas parties for the past 3 years at this restaurant. A couple weeks ago, I had organized a 30 person dinner party for my husbands birthday. I have never been more disappointed dining out in my life. It took 20-35 minutes for our drinks (after waiting almost 15 minutes to order them). I even asked the owner if he could get the birthday boy a drink and even that took 15 minutes. After our ONE unorganized and rude waitress took our order, a couple of us went for a smoke. As we were outside around 9 pm in the middle of a huge dinner rush, the owner LEFT. As a manager and barteder myself, i could never imagine leaving my UNDER STAFFED restaurant on an extremely busy night. We got our meals, two people ordered veal and were served chicken, the waitress explained "we are out of veal, i hope chicken will do". We were NEVER offered cheese for our pasta or pepper for our meals. The tables were over piling in dirty dishes and glasses. We finally asked for 4 seperate checks (as we discussed prior to coming with the owner) and the waitress said she was too busy and that we needed to "figure it out" when we said we wanted seperate checks she freaked out on us and went in the back ignoring us as the other waitress had to seperate the bills. The only two things that were exceptional about our night was the kitchen manager MAURO who came out and personally apologized and the amazing food that he contiuously makes. I am more pissed off at the fact that the owner had all my contact information and never once called to apologize. Ive had better service at tim hortons. Thanks for listening to my rant and rave lol

This owner is so greedy he over reserves the restaurant and then can't seat you for your reservation. This has happened too many times. We have waited over an hour to be seated each time we have had a reservation. And he is rude beyond belief. Definately shouldn't be in that business

We took advantage of the Prix Fixe Savour York region menu to give Stonefire a try. The shrimp cocktail was outstanding, the veal parmesan and pasta delicious, and the portions were more than adequate. Even the children's pasta was a good size portion. The Asian stirfry was also very fresh and tasty. The only problem is that because the food is so good and the menu so varied, it'll be a dent in the pocketbook because we want to go back and try so many other dishes. I've got me eye on a pizza, maybe the ravioli... oh too many to choose from.

What a nice surprise to find a place like this north of Toronto. Great atmosphere and food to go along with it. Friendly staff with steady service to top it off.

Before going to this restaurant I did look up reviews on it. For some reason I found MANY bad reviews. I have no clue why though! This place is beautiful inside. THe bar area is also very nice. The service was excellent. Our waitress was very sweet and polite. I ordered the mushroom risotto which was amazing! My boyfriend ordered one of the steaks which he really enjoyed. It's a bit pricey but I would definately go back!!

Our reservation was at 8:30pm. We were not greeted by anyone when we entered the restaurant, even after waiting a significant amount of time (15min or more) just standing there. We were not seated until at least 45 minutes after our reservation time. Things took forever, even just an order of ginger ale. ?!?!?! Also... why would they give us our takeaway boxes WHILE we were still eating? There was absolutely no space on our table for all those boxes. They even tried to put the boxes on the booth seat next to one of my friends. How unprofessional! I did not expect that we'd have to tell them, please hold the boxes until we're ready to leave. The food was fine, but the service definitely, definitely blew. With so many other restaurants offering reasonably good food with much better service, I will spending my time and money elsewhere instead.

Have nothing but good things to say about this place. Have dined here at least 5 times. Food and service were always great. Would definately recommend it. Not sure why so many bad reviews.

I went there with my boyfirend (he's sick of the keg) on a sunday ater I was done work. I must say nice decor! I was happy to see more than one to two salade choices (I dont each much meat). The bread was GOOD! we ate a second. I nor did my boyfirend have a bad experience with our food, the service was fine - nothing to complain. My boyfirend ordered the Seafood Risotto (big protion) I ordered the Vegetable Salade (big portion) - only complaint is there wasnt more brie cheese chunks - I love cheese. I would go back again

I must say I am truly shocked by the reviews below......Am I eating at the same restaurant these people are? My experiances (yes, experiances.....I eat there at least once a week) have been nothing short of PERFECT.....The food is Delicious, staff is friendly, proffessional, attentive and work great together....I ALWAYS request a table in ERIN's section......she is truly the BEST waitress I have ever had.....she makes you feel welcome, caters to your every need....I'm convinced she is a mind reader...always Knowing what I need at the exact time....

I highly recommend Stonefire Grill....and plan to continue eating there on a weekly basis....

What a bad evening... the service was a disaster.
We had reservations for 7:30, they didn't have the table ready when we arrived so they added a table by the kitchen, where we were clearly in the way of everyone.
We originally ordered lasagna;30minutes passed by the waitress comes back to say that they ran out. so wee ordered 2 Seafood pastas and one cheese pizza... We got our food after one hour. The pizza was cold and dry, no one asked us how the meals were... I had to flag down the waitress to get our bill.

Great decor, great background music, Bad service!

We went to Stonefire for the 1st time on the weekend. The food was excellent pizza, veal dishes and pasta we really enjoyed by all. The service was excellent. It was lively inside the decor is great and you'd never know you were in Thornhill. We would all definately go back again.

There is no questioning that the service is downright embarrassing. It's a bunch of amateurs with no one solid taking the lead. This is an obvious problem as it's a growing trend on this message board. The food was hit and miss. Nothing spectacular, but not horrible either. The atmosphere is cramped, too many tables stuffed into the small, poorly designed dining room. If the service was more professional and attentive and the execution of the food a little more focused I would definately go back. But as for now, this place sucks.

We were there for a company holiday dinner and overall, it was good. The bread was very soft and yummy, the food was delicious! The only drawbacks were that the service for the food was a bit slow and the waitress had to take a few minutes to figure out who ordered what. Some of the menu items are a bit pricey though.

I would go back - especially for the Zuppa Di Pesce - if you're a seafood lover, DEFINITELY give that a try!

this place treats the customers apparently like it treats its staff... a revolving door!!! can't wait to get you out!!! I live in the area, so have a lot of the ex-staff... didn't want to pay anyone. Just were all about the cashgrab. I read the other reviews and they don't look too hot. would not recommend this place if my life depended on it. The food is mmm.. substantial... the service... lower...

Just came from dinner at Stonefire Bar & Grill. At first glance, this restaurant is lovely. After that it was downhill all the way. Three separate waiters gave us the same information before our order was actually taken. When the entrees arrived, the server had no clue who ordered what and we were only 4 people at our table! My husband requested more bread to dip into his pasta sauce and the waiter said it was being baked. But, it never arrived. The same waiter asked if we would like to see the dessert menu. We agreed but it too never arrived. After about 20 minutes we decided that it was too late to order dessert (since we never did see the menu) and it was time to leave. The waiter could have cared less. No one ever came by to ask if we needed anything, if we liked our food or if we wanted more wine. The food was just mediocre so the chance of us returning is pretty slim. For the price of the entrees, I'd suggest going downtown in Toronto where the service is far superior and the food tastes good enough to warrant $34 entrees.

I made a reservation for 8pm for 2 friends and myself. After being seated, the man who I think was the manager came up to us and asked if we thought we would being staying longer than an hour. I asked "Why? Is there a rush?" and he brushed it off like oh no just wondering. I did'nt even have a second to open the menu and it seemed like he wanted to give the table to someone else. As well, while I was still working on my appetizer the waitress brought out the main course and was about to take the appetizer away. I had to tell her I was'nt done yet. The food is just Ok and for the price you pay along with the bad service I don't think it's worth it. It's too bad because the decor is nice and the place could be great, but I will not be returning!

How are you supposed to know how long you will be in there for? That is ridiculous being asked that!! Not a great start to dinner I'm sure.

My husband and I went to Stonefire Bar and Grill on Saturday night. It is a very nice restaurant, and our waitress was wonderful. We were disappointed in our meals, especially the caesar salad which was nothing special and quite expensive. I did speak to the owner who was very receptive to my comments. It was a positive experience talking to him as his goal is to make sure that his customers are satisfied with their meals and experience at Stonefire. We will be going back.
