A few months ago, I was with my husband eating lunch. We decided to go to HMV to check on DVD's. I noticed a cool looking car parked outside the store. It had a Soprano's (the tv show) logo on the hood. Bullet holes and a dead leg hanging out the trunk.

I was curious on what was going on so we walked up to the people standing by the car. There was a lady who was dressed in a news reporter outfit, a man in a suit, a bigger guy who looked like Pussy from the Sopranos. They asked us if we were fans of the show, and gave us t-shirts and hats. They told us they were promoting the 5th Season of Sopranos coming onto DVD. I made a remark about how I was not happy about the ending of the show and they then told me to give back my t-shirts. I thought I was being punished for telling the truth. But then they told me they knew I was a true fan and gave me a HUGE bag. It had dollar signs on it. They told me to open it up and then they started filming it. When I opend it up there was two sopranos shirts, two sopranos hats, 2 money clips, and a CELL PHONE! I was then told that I needed to go to Toronto on a certain date and time outside the HMV and bring the phone (which i got to keep) If the phone rings than I win $5000.00. It was all too much for me to handle at once and I was crying I was so happy.

Fast forward to a few weeks later and my husband and I show up at the HMV super early. I had hours to wait around and meet new people. Suddenly a car coming speeding down the street and these thugs jump out. They start questioning us about Tony Soprano and how we know him. The camera start to roll and there are only 17 of us waiting for our phones to ring. They interviewed each of us and really put on a show. I felt like this was the real deal.

In the end I didn't win the Five Grand but I had a great time. And I have a whole different look on how Boom Marketing advertises their product. They have created something that nobody else has done. They could have just have handed out shirts and hats and be done with it. But now I have a deeper appreciation for the Soprano's tv show :) And I have a new cell phone to boot!
