7 Numbers is the type of cool neighbourhood restaurant that I wish I had in my neighbourhood.

From what I know, it is a family run business - and it definitely shows. That's not a knock on the establishment, but rather a testament to the quality and pride in the food and the friendly interaction with customers.

To me, the restaurant lacked that level of polish and sophistication, but therein lies its appeal. It's not supposed to compete with our City's finest Italian restaurants.

It's that place where you want to stop by after a long day at work and enjoy some uncomplicated, but tasty "homestyle" Italian cooking. I don't know who the chef is, but I imagine that she is some matronly grandmother in the kitchen lovingly tending to her fare.

To tell you the truth, the food didn't blow my mind. While it was unpretentious, I felt it was very satisfying. I appreciated its simplicity, but my date was a bit underwhelmed. Regardless, I think the restaurant is great value for the money.

As well, they have a fixed menu of about $30. We weren't able to get that, because it's only for groups, but I definitely think that's an amazing deal, and would love to try it one time.

I would appreciate hearing any feedback on this deal...

I went with a few friends last weekend and the atmosphere was very romantic and welcoming. The service was also very good. I must say though I was a little disappointed with the food. We had a variety of antipasti which was 'ok' the one that stood out was the deep fried calamari which was excellent and of course the deep fried dough with peppers and tomatoe sauce. The pastas we had were terrible. The 'lasagna' has a very strong smoke flavour to it and all the sauces used in the pastas were very acidic. The secondo's (egg plant, rabbit and rottoli) we had were edible but again just ok. Its to bad because the atmosphere was wonderful. I would not go back to this place because for me its mostly about the food.

oh sorry to hear you didn't like the food, we usually go there after work and all pretty much love it .. and the tomato mozarella salad - my ultimate favorite and their pork is just delishious ... maybe they had a bad day?

Went for dinner here last night with a group of friends. I'd have to agree with your comments. The restaurant was packed and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. It was extremely loud and the music was playing very loudly. We literally had to shout to hear one another. The food was OK. I understand that the restaurant is connected to the old Gio (nose) establishment, and there are certainly similarities in taste and concept. I found the salad appetizers to be very tasty. I agree the pasta sauces were not particularly tasty and I wouldn't order them again. The mains were just OK. But you do get a lot of food for the money.

We opted for the family special, which gets the table a variety of salads, pastas and each patron selects their own main, all for a price of $27 a person. It worked well for a group, so that everyone could have a taste. Otherwise, each dish is inexpensively priced allowing you to try a number of items on your own.

Our waiter was friendly and helpful, though too busy to properly service us. We had to ask several times to refill our water, and waited at least 1/2 hour for him to do so.

Overall, a friendly local restaurant that you would go to for the atmosphere (if you like loud) and to sample a variety of dishes
of OK quality at inexpensive prices.

lutz.n49.ca and I decided to stop by 7 Numbers for a glass of wine. We had no idea it was sooooo cool! The place was packed with people, the food smelled amazing..the music was groovin so we got a table.
We both ordered a glass of wine, Lutz.n49.ca ordered the tomato and bocconcini as well as the grilled and lightly battered squid. She was not impressed with the tentacles but I loved them! lol! We had a fantastic time.. I met Vito who is the son of the owner through Ben who works at Spaccos (Check out Spacco's) I hear he helped with the renovation of the restaurant. The wine was fantastic, so was the service, the food was delish, the music was great...the whole ambiance was amazing!

eglinton west(foresthill villate) is lacking in many things and one of them is afterwork hangout places to go for a quick drink (or 3) to unwind or just celebrate co-workers' b-day ... so glad we found this bistro style restaurant. It was about time!
