Toronto Airways Ltd, Markham Reviews (1)
August 1st, alarm clock wakes up ray.n49.ca at 6am as usual. This time though he finds a little envelope that doesn't say much except the address and time with happy b-day wishes. I didn't mean for it to be that crippted but he couldn't figure it out all day long. He kept asking everyone in the office what is in Markham, and what it is that i am taking him to do.
Some of his coworkers went creative with this and figured out that there is some old theater in the middle of the fields so he thought (and i am sure very displeased) we are watching some play that night. He was hoping for a golf course, which was a creative thought #2. Lol ... I was loving it of course .. I mean ... have you people not hear about google yet? :-) Hehehe. Thank god it didn't occur to any of his friends otherwise they would spoil my surprise.
"Hun? What should I wear?" was a trick question trying to guess where it is we are going when we met home in the afternoon.
"Anything you want Ray" i answered.
"Well, is it outdoors or indoors cuz I don't wanna be sweating" ... he keeps trying.
"Both really hun, it is indoors and outdoors too" I added onto his confusion. Laughing inside like a madwoman :-)
Hitting the road, driving north on DVP in about 15 min there is a huge sign that says BUTTONVILLE AIRPORT. He failed to notice!!! :-) Thank god luck is on my side ... update: still no clue. Sweet. This is going good.
So I ask him to pull into the parking lot by the Druxy's near the car rental near the entrance and I claimed to need some coffee for the road but that didn't quite fly and he started to be a bit suspissious, so I finally told him we were there.
"HERE?!" Absolute confusion is taking place in his head. Nothing is adding up ... Until we finally get inside and come to the reception .. clouded brain starts kicking into 5th gear.
"Are we going on a plane ride?" big eyes opened and mouth dropped.
"Yes babes .. happy b-day .. hope you are not scared of flying in small planes" ...
" not at all Lutz, this is awesome .. thank you so much!!" .. as he manages to give me a huge smile, small droplets of sweat show up on his forehead. I am sure those have a lot to do with the heat ;-)
1.5 hours in the air heading south towards the Toronto skyline, circling around CN Tower, UofT then back to CN Tower couple more times, then Scarborough Bluffs and over our new apartment back to the airport.
Headset allowed communication between us and with the pilot as well as you can hear the central tower or what's it called passing instructions. You feel like in a movie. Pop up two small bottles of champaign to cheer to Ray (and to get a buzz going:-)
Quite the memorable experience for both of us.
