Last night myself and my family (including aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins) went to Castello Restaurant to celebrate my younger sister's confirmation. This was a very special night for her but this restaurant COMPLETELY RUINED her night. When reservations were made my mom specifically asked that we be placed on the lower floor of the restaurant as my 3 elderly grandparents cannot go up and down the stairs to the upper level. It was confirmed with one of the owners of the restaurant that we would be placed on the lower level. When we arrived at the restaurant, one of the servers told us that our party would be seated at the upper level. We clarified that we had asked for the lower level. He proceeded to seat us at one table on the lower level so we started to unpack our centre pieces. He then returned and told us this WASN'T our table and then moved us to ANOTHER table on the lower level. Again, we moved all of the centre pieces to the other table and got comfortable at this second table. Moments later one of the owners approached my mom and said that there was a Christmas coming in and they had reserved the ENTIRE lower level and that we HAD to sit upstairs. This was enraging as we had SPECIFICALLY requested the bottom level. The owner proceeded to tell my mom that requesting the lower level had never been discussed and accused my mom of lying. So much for the "customer is always right". After 30 minutes of arguing about this, we ended up sitting upstairs. My grandparents had to struggle up and down the stairs all evening as there was NO bathroom on the upper level. It is important to note that my mom made this reservation back in September and it was clear that this Christmas party had booked their reservations after ours. This means that the restaurant basically disregarded our request because they knew they would make more money off of the Christmas party. This is completely unacceptable and disgusting. The owner's customer service was AWFUL. The food was so-so, nothing amazing. I would never go back to this restaurant and would never recommend anyone to go there. Save your $$.

The food is nor bad, but the management and the way they handle the staff is sad! We were there for Eastern brunch, just to get to understand that the tips that was marked up on our bill was held back by the manager and not distributed to staff. Shame everyone. Those people worked hard and we found this low act, outragious. We will certainly not go back there.

The service was horrible, as soon as we mentioned we were gifted a coupon the waitress ceased attending to our table. Our water was refilled once (and only half a glass), our food was over sauced, clunky and reminded me of a cheap wedding banquet hall.

To add insult to injury, following an evening of horrendous service and mediocre food, the waitress added a $12 tip to the bill total after realizing she had to make 'an adjustment' to the original bill.

Save your money and go somewhere where customer service and quality matters more than long drapes.

I was there for a family religious party with a guestlist of approx. 30 people. From the beginning of the night I knew I was not going to be impressed. There was about 3 other parties going on when we entered.
Our party was seated; mingling and talking, without ONE single waitress taking orders for what we would like to drink. I'm not saying that I am too lazy to get up and get my own drink, but I am at a restaurant and it only makes sense to for a waitress to take orders. Regardless, I went up to order a drink to a "bartender" who most definitely had no schooling/experience on making drinks. I had asked for a vodka with Cranberry and OJ, she literally filled the cup with a shot of vodka and rest was all Cranberry. When I had asked that I wanted OJ she only put a drop of juice and stated that she only wanted to put a little so it "looked nice".
Anyways, onto the Antipasto... Our table was plated with a mix of grilled veggies, cheese, proscuito, and olives but another waitress came to pick it up and place it on another table within seconds. Seriously? I do not know where they went to school, but putting a plate on one table and then taking it away and putting it on a another table isn't very professional, mind you we did receive another plate within a couple of minutes.
The next course was two types of pasta. One lady came around giving a good portion of the red sauce pasta, but the other lady who came around with the white sauce pasta only put 8 little gnocchi's on our plate. The host had to tell the waitress that she had paid for both pastas and that there should be more than enough on everyone's plate. I guess it didn't really matter how much pasta we had on our plate, it tasted like nothing anyways. (note; the lady serving the white sauce pasta got sauce all over my camera that was on the table, when I saw it I said "oh shoots" and picked up my camera to clean it, she just looked at me and walked away. Not even a sorry!) I have never gone to a restaurant and had to put SALT AND PEPPER on my food. My sister had asked another server for some more bread for our table, the server actually replied with "how many should I bring out?". Last time I checked a little bun only costs about 30 cents each. My sister had then ask her to just bring out a basket for the table. Which should've been self explanatory. The menu was set for all the adults to have lemon sorbet and the kids to have ice cream, the boy that the party was held for wanted lemon sorbet. My mother had asked our waitress for another sorbet, and she actually HESITATED, and said that they would have to see if that was okay. Seriously? Here someone is paying ALL this money and you can't even accommodate them?
Are you ready for the worst part? On my way out, my mother and I saw the "bartender" smell the pitcher of coke, grab a funnel, and funnel it into a container. I should have snapped a picture and sent it to health and safety. That pitcher SHOULD have been tossed down the sink! I am so disgusted that a restaurant charging a big amount of money for a set menu would "save the coke" for the next people. I am even shocked that she did that in front of people. I am beyond disgusted. There are plenty of other restaurants in the city that have GOOD food and friendlier staff!

I will never ever return, and I will make sure to pass on my thoughts about this restaurant to everyone I know.
This restaurant is designed to hold different functions going on all at once. Please do not make an excuse that there's a lot of people and it was overwhelming. I have been to functions at other restaurants and NEVER had issues like these!

Save your money!

We visited Castello with a group of friends last night and I must say to the negative reviews, they must have mistaken this restaurant with another one in Vaughan, our service and quality of food were exceptional. Service was quick and efficient has was the dishes we ordered. Will definitely be returning soon and would highly recommend to anyone.

We Picked up and left and went to Mandarin. It was the best decision ever. Save your money and go somewhere else. They clearly dont care about there customers.

We celebrated my boyfriend's parents 50th Wedding Anniversary at Castello on December 16th and all I can say is AMAZING! First of all the restaurant is beautiful, elegant and romantic but during the Christmas season with all the Christmas lights and tree it was even more beautiful! The owner Mary and her daughter Patricia were amazing, they treated us amazing and it was because of them the anniversay was a hit. They were always coming over to make sure everything was good and also came over to congratulate my boyfiend's parents, they could not do enough to make sure our guests were taken care of. Mary and Patricia are a class act. The food well what can I say but AMAZING, fresh, delicious and presented beautifully. The cake they ordered for us was beautiful and delicious. The piano player was great and added the extra touch of class. Our whole experience was just amazing, our guests raved for days after. Castello is definitely the restaurant I will have all my family functions. Mary and Patricia thank you again for everything, your restaurant is beautiful, the food is amazing and your entire family and staff is just amazing.

see you soon!

Please save your time and money and dont go to Castello Ristorante. We had a terrible experience. The food was not fresh it was old and cold and tasted awful. They probably served us food from a weekend party. The risotto was mushy and not fresh. The pasta was overcooked. One of our guests got served undercooked chicken. We complained and the owner did not even apologise. We asked for bottled water they came to our table with a frozen bottle of water. What a joke!We had ordered salad and forgot to bring it. The service was so slow had to wait forever for our drinks. The servers were busy text messaging. We had ordered crepes with fresh fruit from the dessert menu and the fruit and the crepes was served forzen. We made sure that we told the owner/managemnt of the terrbible experience we had, and that we will not be returning and we made it cleat that we will tell all our family and friends of the bad experience we had at Castello Ristorante..she just found excuses for everything and did not even appologise!!I eat better at Mcdonald's.

Went to castello with my wife and another couple on saturday night for dinner and was never more satisfied with the quality of food and ambience. The portions were good and the food was very tasty. Our waiter Rick was very professional and attentive to our table all night.
Would highly recommend this restaurant for when you want to impress someone.

My wife and I look forward to Savour Vaughan each year as it provides an opportunity to experience a new restaurant at a great price. Last night we had a reservation for 7pm. When we arrived, the restaurant was beautiful and the greeter (I believe the owner as I will get to that later) was very nice. We were told our table was ready. A woman asked us to wait a moment and went off towards the area where we would eventually be sitting. She appeared to forget about us as I noticed her taking an order for another table then speaking to patrons at yet another. When I finally said something, we were finally led to our table.

We asked for the wine menu and were asked if we would be ordering from the Savour Vaughan menu; we confirmed and waited for the wine menu. A short time later the same woman who forgot to sit us and went to get the wine menu came back to ask if we needed anything. I reminded her about the wine menu.

When she returned, we ordered. We enjoyed our wine and the bread drenched in olive oil and waited for our appetizers. Then we waited some more. 40 minutes later they finally arrived. The calamari which sounded so nice on the menu was thrown on top of a few pieces of salad and was incredibly bland. My wife ordered the portobello mushrooms which were equally bland.

No more than 5 minutes after the appetizers arrive, the same confused woman came by with two orders of sea bass. She asked if it was "too soon" for the entee and I laughed. I said yes and my wife did not order sea bass, she ordered veal.

I watched as a party of four sat two tables away from us. One of the ladies asked if there was a coat check and the owner(?) pointed to a coat rack near the washrooms. The lady's face was priceless! I also noticed she asked 3 times for a fork.

Next to us a young couple sat and waited for their menus.

The table lady at another table behind my wife was friends with the owners as the woman from the restaurant kept parading her family to the table, including her father, the owner. I chuckled as the patron raved about the food.

Finally the entrees arrive. I took one bite out of my sea bass and thought something was amiss. I would probably perform well on Hells Kitchen as I immediately noticed the fish was not sea bass; it was tilapia. As a further insult, I called over the same woman from the beginning of the wonderful experience and asked if she was sure I was served sea bass. She seemed to think for a second and then confirmed it was. I asked where the risotto was as it was part of the entree. She apologized and went off to find my risotto (I should mention the first time she came by with the two orders of sea bass, there was no risotto there either). The risotto finally arrives and not only is it sitting on a bread plate in 1/4 inch of water, it's overcooked and the mushrooms appeared to have been just sliced and thrown on top. On top of everything, it was equally bland as the calamari.

By now, the young couple got tired of waiting and left.

The only positive note was my wife's veal. It was fairly decent and I am not a veal eater!

As we neared the point of disgust, we asked for the dessert and the bill. We asked for two tiramisus. Someone else brought out a tiramisu and a creme brulee. We had to correct her and we finally got our dessert and the bill.

Perhaps the restaurant was overwhelmed as a result of Savour Vaughan; however, don't serve someone one fish and try to pass it off as something else.

I would never step foot in this restaurant again and would highly recommend no one else does either.

Last night 13 friends and I went to Castello Ristorante for dinner. Let me start off by saying that we had a reservation and confirmed that the restaurant would be able to handle our party during Savour Vaughan - we where told yes!
We arrived at 730, ordered our drinks and then our food, standard restaurant practice. Once the order was in we waited, and waited and waited some more. It took close to one hour for our appetizers to come out, needless to say we where all starving! Thirty plus minutes later our server came around and started, slowly, cleaning the dirty dishes that had been sitting infront of us. Another 30 minutes goes by and our entrees started coming out. No ones food was spectacular - everything was over cooked/had been sitting in the kitchen for too long. We then sat there for another long while until our dishes where cleared away again, and this time not all the dishes where cleared away. We where them asked if we where ready for dessert which we obviously where. We had ordered our desert at the beginning because it was a prix fixed menu for Savour Vaughan. We where told that 1 of the 2 options was no longer available so everyone had to change there orders. Desert and coffees where not as painful as everything else but it didn't come out in a hurry.

At one point one of the ladies in our party went to the bathroom to find it completely flooded! We told the manager who didn't even flintch. The rest of the night we had to use the facilites in groups because we needed a man to take us into the men's restroom!

When we received our bill that already had the gratuity included we decided to say something to management. If we had even once been acknowledged about the lack of service we would have been satisfied, but nothing. The management thought of every excuse in the book as to why the whole night was out of their control - again no apology or acknowledgement for the FOUR HOURS we sat in their restaurant. Eventually after 10 minutes, our husbands/boyfriends having to take us into the mens restroom to use the facilities and not-so-good Italian food the manager took our drinks off the bill.

Thankfully the company was good because the rest of the night was not.
