Wind in My Sails Inc. Reviews (1)
Its the day we long expected, when n49 officialy opens their doors to public and lets anyone to become a member. There coudn't have been a better timing for this than Canada Day. (You know .. the all Canadian for Canadians directory) And we decided to celebrate it on the waves of lake Ontario (and some waves there were - gravol to the rescue!!)
It's a beautiful sunny afternoon and Captain Rick welcomes us on baord of "Sophisticated Lady" .. Terri (his wife) is cutting up fresh veggies and putting together our snack bar with cheese spread & crackers & dips, veggies, buttertarts etc.
Boat is amazing. Real elegance. Very compact & clean, design is very well thought through (i guess on every boat due to lack of space) ... very charming. I crack open my heavy red wine right upon arrival .. flop my ass on the deck and enjoy the breeze with a huge smile on my face.
We depart. Its only 10 of us plus the crew of 2 & a puppy (sorry forgot her name) quite the guard i must say, barking at everyone on the shore who was giving us the jealous eye. WE LOVED IT!! lol ... Sailing along the edge of the city, then throught the Toronto Island & around it, off to Ontario Place ... out into the lake and then after the sunset back closer to the shore just for the time for the fireworks.
Thank god for the blankets on board & towel I brought with me .. temperature was not on our side, but the substantial amount of alcohol was keeping our hearts warm. The less brave (or should I say smarter?) coudn't resist and hid inside of the cabin and kept company to the captain, the rest of us kept freezing on the deck singing along for distraction. Unfortunately we had police come to warn us several times that we were too close to the fireworks - well duh, thats the point!! so we had to drift further back.
But after the fireworks started, along with the music playing from the radio (which this year didn't seem to really match in any shape or form) we forgot about the chilly winds for a bit. Pretty amazing. There is something about a group of people collectively going OOOOH & AAAAAAH ... & WOOOOW .. :-)
Back in harbour shortly after 11, everyone had quite the sophisticated look in their face ... thank you Rick & Terri, can't wait to do it again.

I had such a great time even with the chill factor :)
The tour of the island was fantastic and I've never seen fireworks like that before!
