Weight Watchers, Barrie Reviews (4)
I have battled weight all my life. With the help of the incredable people here in Barrie I am starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. I recommend weight watchers to everyone who has a weight issue. They have shown me how to enjoy holidays and special occassions without beating myself up over weight gain. Its not a diet it is a life style change and you are never to old to start. Thank You Weight Watchers and thank you Barrie.
I have been an "on-again/off-again" member for MANY years and am overall very happy with Weight Watchers. I love the new program and the new concept of it,but have 1 major issue...no PointsPlus Calculator! I am finding it VERY hard to follow the program to the best of my ability because I don't have a calculator. I know there is one available online but it makes it very hard as I don't have access to the internet at home. I have to write down the nutritional value of my foods for the day and calculate them once I reach work. This makes it hard to plan my meals ahead, plus I have to use my office computer. I am not going to be 100% satisfied without being able to utilize all the tools to sucessfully do the program and this is actually playing on my emotions to give up the program.
I've tried all sorts of diet and exercise regimes, all with the same results - I lose, fall off the wagon, go back to my normal eating habits, then gain it all back (with reinforcements).
What I've enjoyed most about Weight Watchers, is that I don't feel as though I'm on a diet. I'm not bound to the 'you must eat our food', or 'we plan your meals' or 'you must eat this cup of yogurt on day one, even if you hate yogurt' rules of most diet programs. No giving up of carbs... no giving up of meats... no sixty-days of salad, or entree the size of a pudding cup.
It's real food, in real situations. Parties, restaurants, work events, meatloaf Tuesdays with the family.
My lifestyle has changed! Instead of counting calories, I am simply more conscious about what is going into my body no matter where I am eating. I feel as though I can still live, without having to constantly compromise so I don't 'cheat' or 'blow it'. (And I have to admit, I feel pretty shrewd and crafty when I find ways to make the most of my points!)
I mean, I've never had a diet where I've been told I need to eat MORE to keep losing weight!
With recipes that give sit-down restaurants a run for their money, and delicious (guilt free) dessert recipes like the all bran brownie muffins... I don't feel like I'm missing out.
So far, I've lost a very easy 20lbs in three months, and well on my way to my goal of losing another 30. I have so much energy, that exercising is a treat - not a chore anymore.
Granted, I know that what works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another (or their lifestyle), but I have to admit that I've been pleased with my progress so far.
Even if you aren't into the program, their cookbooks are a great thing to have on hand. They have some wonderful recipes hidden inside - and a little healthy eating never hurt anyone. =)
Good luck, all. Happy eating!
