The new tech I got was way too rough and unprofessional!!!
But, I'll start from the beginning:

I went to this vet for my 2 cats, for a little while and the vet I was assigned was very balanced and good with my cats. (Even though she was unable to find out the problem with cat#2's wheezing fits...she was experienced and calm). Her 2 technicians were ok too.
Then she left and I was assigned a new vet with new technician.

That's when the problems started. You see, my 1st cat has anxiety when going to vets and gets in a bad state (growling and hissing but never attacks anyone-and she's 9 yrs old so has seen many vet appointments) The new vet, that I only saw twice, was inexperienced and fearful since my cat was growling.
During the first appointment, she allowed 3 techs to come in the room, all talking loud and over each other, while my poor cat was getting more and more scared and stressed because of the noise level and it made her seem like she was being treated as a case study or side show...I was very uncomfortable as well since all the techs were yelling out,all at once, their opinions and advice about my cat and stressing her more. She needed a calm focussed and positive environment, not a freaking rendez vous spot for techs...

The second and last appointment was the worst!
We went in with same cat #1 to vet and after preliminary check from 1st tech, the vet came in with another tech (who was there the first appointment). The tech walks in with gloves and this sphere thing they put on a cat's head to prevent them from bitting. (Though I didn't know about the sphere at the time) Without consulting with me first, she walks directly to my cat and tries to immediately shove the sphere thing on her head! My cat freaked out and almost fell off the table so I pounced to catch her and put her back on the table. I got angry with the tech for just shoving it on her head without talking to me first or introducing it slowly to her.
Other stuff happened that I did not like but all in all that tech was WAY TOO ROUGH and not calm or positive at all with my cat!! Of course during all this my cat freaked out the most I've ever seen her! So much that I ended up crying after the appointment because I was so horrified at the experience she went through!
On top of that, the tech bitched at me for contradicting her and acted like a pouting child for the rest of the visit. Then she laughed about it with the receptionist in the entrance.
VERY unprofessional and negative energy and atmosphere in the appointment. Meanwhile, the vet didn't tell her tech to be more gentle and was just fearful!

Again, I've NEVER had this problem with another tech or vet before, and never saw my my cat react so intensely or hear her scream so loud! That is why I'm changing vets and will NEVER go back there!!!

BAD BAD BAD place!!!
My dog had an accident. I took her there and even though i paid emergency fees I waited 3 hours. I was taken as the last customer. I paid $400 for a cut on the front leg for 10 metal staple stiches, painkillers and antibiotics. My dog jumped from the table at the end of the stiching and they patched her leg and sent us home. After 10 days stiches came out and my dog's wound opened up just like the first time it was cut. It did not heal at all. They did not offer me a free visit. I told them I would write a bad review then someone called me. I went there. They told me such things happen. They told me to keep the wound open but the dog should not lick it. Thats it. Also gave me another 10 day antibiotics for another $50. The wound was bleeing still. I left the place and covered the wound with napkins until we came home. Next day i took her to another vet. The new vet cleaned the wound, covered it and told me to clean the wound once in every 24 hours and keep it covered until it heals which will take about a month. She also told me there was no need for antibiotics but since i bought them I could use them. It was late for the wound to have stiches again. The new vet checked everything about my dog not just the wound!! I will NEVER go to this place again. I paid them $450 absulately for nothing. Meanwhile my dog suffered.

Since a moved to this part of montreal, I go to this Vet.
I found them attentive and friendly. They took the care of explaining the vaccination for me and other procedures. For those who think they are driven by money, I am suprised. For the region I live in and for my small house dog, they discouraged me of paying for an extra vaccin because it would not be usefull to me. After reading more about it, they were right and saved me time and money.

Yes, I too had bad experiences at this place. Mostly staff related. My current vet's (in NDG) is so much better!

I'm looking for an honest caring, non rude, reasonably priced vet in or around Montreal. Which one in NDG? Thanks

I was taking my dog to this vets because it is close to where I live, but I found the staff to be very cold, inattentive, and dismissive. One young staff person seems more interested in looking at her computer screen than helping customers. I'd prefer to take my business to somewhere that actually seems to want my business.

I have taken my dog to this clinic a few times because it is so close to where I live but every time I set foot in there it costs me a minimum of $300. The final straw was when I took him in with a back injury and they warned me that he might have to be euthanized if he didn't recover from the pain but this was before they even did an x-ray. It cost me a bundle in medications and procedures. He was fine by the next day. They tried to convince me to get an MRI even though he was back to normal. It would have cost over $1000. I really always got the feeling that they added more tests and more procedures on every visit to make more money. Their bedside manner leaves much to be desired as well. I would not recommend this vet.

Dear Marcy,

I am one of the owners of that Clinic and felt very disturbed by your comments. I would be very happy to review your file in order to understand what went wrong in more details. We try to use these experiences to better ourselves when possible.

As for the money issue, veterinary fees are never ever a driving force behind a vet's decision to go into vet med care. All the vets I know find it excruciatingly painful to discuss monetary issues and only advocate for what's in the pet's best interest. If this wasn't the case in your visit, once again, please contact me directly so I can look into it and correct the situation.

We also understand that the rising costs behind veterinary healthcare are putting pressure on pet owners and strive to reach a healthy balance between the cost of services, the level of care, the quality of our service and our love for pets. We obviously didn't reach that balance with you and will definitely try to improve these aspects in the future.

That being said, we were aware that our vet was not meeting the expectations from our clientele and after trying to correct the situation for a while, she is no longer with us. We have a new doctor on board since mid November. She is a great Vet, lives in the area, speaks perfect English and has great customer service skills.

If you are willing to give us a second chance, we'll be more than happy to show you our best level of care and service.

Please contact me if you would like to discuss your case.

Respectfully,

I took my dog to this clinique when he had what I thought was an ear infection. The vet looked at my dog for 60 seconds, told me that it is not an ear infection, but rather some neurological condition and he would have to go to neurologist for consultation and a surgery. I was devasted and I argued with him to give me antibiotics anyway which costed me together with this 60 seconds checkup $200. In two weeks my dog healed... I cannot believe these vets, either they have no idea what they are doing or they don't care at all about animals... It's probably both. I would never go there again.

I always go there with my animals, since the past 2 years when I move in that area. They have always been very concerned about by needs and those of my pets, they are very precautious, and we can sense their love for animals! I would definetly recommend this hospital to my friends and family!

If you care about your pets, don't take them to this clinic. One of the vets who works there made a serious, inexplicable mistake with my cat. I used to go to this clinic because it's close to my apartment. The second time I went, I told the vet that my cat had been limping and getting upset when I picked her up, and I was concerned that she might have arthritis or another problem. The vet said that my cat was too young to have any physical problems, and the meowing when I picked her up was just a personality problem because of her breed. I was confused by this explanation, but assumed that the vet had some idea what she was talking about. However, the limping and meowing continued, so I took my cat to a different vet for her next yearly appointment. I explained the situation, and this vet did an x-ray, which I now realize I should have insisted on in the first place. It turns out that my cat had a fractured femur and could still function but had been in pain for a very long time. She had to have surgery to correct it and now is better, but could have avoided a lot of pain if I'd known to avoid this vet in the first place.

oh, I was thinking about going to this clinic but checked the reviews first and found yours...I'm not pretty sure if I will go now!

Was the service still good ? Something positive there?
Any places you recommand?
Comment by plasmoid on Mar 28, 2010
The service there was OK once when I went, and not good another time- very brusque and unwilling to explain anything. Regardless of the service though, I wouldn't recommend it, since your pet's health is at stake. I would recommend Clinique Veterinaire St. Louis, which I found out about from a friend. The staff there is really knowledgeable and helpful, and great service. It is kind of expensive, but I think you will save money in the long run.

I've been there twice and my overall experience is pretty good. The staff was busy but still very concerned and energetic. I (and my little dog) would recommend this place to my friends.

I have found this vet to be very concerned with maximizing the bill rather than find a cost-effective solution to treating your pet. Staff is hit and miss - sometimes kind and attentive, most of the time they ignore you and make you wait while they chat in the glass room.
